Excellent approach and fantastic landing! Kudos to your student for hand flying the approach. Textbook Cirrus approach 100% in line with the iFOM. Only one comment for you to consider. Although activating the approach from the PROC menu is an acceptable method, I have found it to be a bit risky versus selecting your desired fix on the approach in the FMS and then selecting “ direct to” enter, enter. I nearly busted my instrument check ride using “activate approach” because I had not double checked which fixed was loaded as the IAF on the approach, and when I activated the approach the AP tried to take me in a direction I wasn’t expecting. I am also finding more and more instances where I am instructed to join the approach at an intermediate fix, rather than an IAF. So I now only activate approaches by one of two methods. First is by cursoring to the desired fix on the approach, visually confirming that is indeed where I want to go, hitting “direct to”, visually confirming one more time that it is the correct fix, and then activate. The other method is VTF (vectors to final). Again, excellent approach and your student did very well flying in IMC.
