A legend, that voice Lord that voice and the way that band played with Ronnie singing like only he could, we will never be blessed with the likes of these guys again, RIP my brother....now and then we all are Aliens.
I met Ronnie - when most of ARS walked into a bar where I was playing. Ronnie Hammond was a decent human being. You would never know what a huge talent he was by talking to him. Brother - I pray you are playing and singing your heart out in heaven.
I've been in construction for 30 years and lately I've been working with a guy who was very close to Ronnie and I love to hear all the stories he shares about there times together!
Thanks Ronnie for all the great songs you left for us to love. RIP my friend ARS was so far ahead of there time. Thanks for all the great songs Peace be with you brother.
Although Mr. Hammond had his troubles during his life, from what I read about him he was the true salt of the earth. After leaving music, he became an accomplished carpenter and house framer. I believe a late friend of mine actually worked with him or knew someone that did work with him in the south.
I loved this group , I loved Ronnies voice, one of a kind!!!!!! And it didn’t hurt that he was a Fine ass Man too!!!! Love you Ronnie. You haven’t missed a beat here, still playing loud and loving it!!!!
Been a fan of ARS for so long, have had tickets in my hand on four different occasions to see them and they cancelled each time, got to the door each time and was told they weren't coming. Twice in Birmingham and twice in Houston. Then once I went to see Steppenwolf in Houston and dropped my card in a box not even knowing what I was trying to win. The radio station called me about 2 weeks later and told me that I had won a guitar! When I went to pick it up, the guitar was signed by Ronnie H. and the entire Atlanta Rhythm Section! How is that not a movie? Great band, wish I could have seen them live.
@@tubetea got to see them in Jacksonville, FL for the Champagne Jam tour!😁 It was EPIC!! 2 rows from the stage, standing room only, center stage. OMG!!What a night!😃
What a voice, what a band! I saw ARS in the mid seventies, right when they were starting to really break out, and they were great! They were a class act from start to finish, and didn't have to take a back seat to anyone. Man, I miss those "good old days!"
I saw them before their name became known. It was a religious experience !! Have always loved the music and always will. Ronnie Hammond was definitely the best vocals then and he will always be.
I've Loved this Band Forever! One of the Greatest Sounds Ever As a Fact. Normal Love Shall be Played at My Funeral. Along with Others. God Bless Y'all. Sincerely & Confederately Yours. GEN.TYLER {CSA/SIA/TN.}
I really hope these guys are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. RIP, what a voice. We'll all enjoy his voice again someday, in the meantime, we got this! Peace n Love to you All!
I was about 8 or 9 years old when I remember hearing Atlanta Rhythm Section on the radio. "So Into You" and "Imaginary Lover" were my two favorites. I wish I could have seen ARS live. I grew up loving them and so many of their songs. Ronnie Hammond had a wonderfully distinctive KILLER voice. So sad that he and guys like Marty Balin (Jefferson Starship) are gone now. You were an awesome singer, great talent, and easy on the eyes. ❤❤ RIP Ronnie Hammond
I didn't know him, but I had the pleasure of meeting him in Gastonia,NC of all places. He was very nice to me, I was on top of the world. It"s still up there with the greatest moments of my life. His vocals were better than great. We lose the great ones way to soon.
Lucky you to have known him...as a person and a star. Of course all performers are just average humans in most regards but a guy like Hammond...soul and a certain charisma. I saw him twice and just thought he was way too cool and this was when I was in my 40s. His pain most of us could not know of but a lot of us have our Demons so I can imagine his pain.
I sincerely wish I'd had the privilege of seeing him perform live and I'm so sad that I can't do that now. Love you Ronnie and so many thanks, you really had a great impact on my life.
Saw them at Belmont Park back in the 70's.... I was able to witness the phenomenal bass break in Another Man's Woman live and up front. Words cannot describe that amazing jam by Mr. Goddard. Best bassist ever...
Atlanta Rhythm Section was a great group I didn't get to see live. I'm sorry I missed my chance. I Will and always play their music and still do today. Ronnie you're one of a kind and will keep you and your original band members, family and friends in my prayers. I grew up listening to those great songs. Thank you for all your talent.
Thank you for sharing this touching tribute with us. His beautiful voice was part of my formative years, and I still get chills when I hear him sing "Do It or Die." He knew how to write and to deliver a song that stuck with a person and meant something. Rest in Peace, Ronnie. You are and will be missed.
ARS is some of the best music that pops up in my mind when I'm doing a mundane chore at work. Thank you Ronnie for your beautiful music that will live with me forever.
This just popped up on my feed & at first I wasn't going to look. Just so sad that we lost such a legend. Far too soon. But then I thought, yea, let me take a look. I'm so glad I did! You did an amazing job! A truly beautiful tribute to one of the all time best entertainers in my lifetime. Thank you! ❤
My wife and I danced to the music of ARS at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah GA on New Years eve 1992. They were so awesome. Needless to say -my future bride was impressed. We were dancing right in front of the state
To all the family of Ronnie Hammond,, Thankyou,I grew up listening to ARS,from the start, how proud you must be,Its beyond how his music affected me,he was just great,i could relate to all his music,,and sad he's not here, but very proud he lives on through you all, bless your family,,
I remember ARS's national hits like "Imaginary Lover" being on the radio when I was between 5 and 9 years old, but it's as an adult that I've totally gotten into all of their music. I'm only just now starting to learn about who the band members are. Sad to hear that Ronnie and Paul have already left us.
OMG, l know the words & yet l haven't heard it since l was a kid. One of my favorite songs growing up. My condolences to the family & friends of Ronnie. He sure was special. Luvd his voice.
Best Band of GA.PERIOD.LAST TIME I SAW THEM WAS AT A " TOYS For Tots " Concert in Old Omni.Never Heard A Bad Song They Ever Had.GREAT BAND & WE MISS THEM!!!
Thank you for this, he was a very special man. I will always miss him and hear his voice in my head forever, may his legacy and his family live on forever. Thank you for every single thing you ever sang Ronnie, RIP, and may your family know how much you have been loved by all the rest of us. With great respect, Maggie Baker, who's loved him almost as long as his family has.
I had a great time partying with him for years... one lane bridge road. ha ha, palisaides. and I can go on. he never forgot a fans face.he would walk around and look at me and say I know you, just like greg and jamo did. piedmont park. for those hat know.
ARS, what a wonderful group with such melodic, pleasant, & beautiful songs. Going to see them in 4 days, 2/14/20, at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center. It will be so, so nice. Looking forward to this concert.
rip youngun' You guys were right on time. Loved the band when I got back to the states..go USN. Gets you thinking about your own mortality. We all get old, some of us just can't let it go!!!!! Again, RIP
I listened to ARS back in my younger days. I truly failed to appreciate them as the great southern Rock band as they were. Bottom line is these musicians were exceptional .
You know you are great when you can sing one bar of music and people know exactly who you are...that’s ronnie..he could sing two words and I know exactly who it is..unlike today’s shit music and singers
To Barry Oneal 4 years ago, if you get this do you play and what ever happened to the guitar? Also, when I was in high school in 1980 or '81 I was lucky enough to see them right after or about the time "Homesick" came out and saw them at the Baton Rouge State Fair on a cool fall night and was blown away for two reasons, 1st there were only about 100 to 150 people scattered around in a space that would have held 4 to 5,000 and I could not believe that was all that was there and 2nd, the show they put on was great to be playing to so few people and the bass player just made my jaw drop on his solo, I don't think that ever happens anymore. He was one, if not the best I've ever seen live along with the rest of the band but he really stood out! I'm sorry I don't have his name right now but all you ARS fans know who I'm talking about. What a shame the world took such a side step and there just isn't any inspiration for young people to write songs like the bands left that are dying out. I guess video, computers, and smart phone games don't give much inspiration. What a down right crying shame. And I know I'll get hated for that but, it is true. No?
I was lucky to see Ronnie and the ARS band. Ronnie. Had the best voice ever! I miss him dearly.
What a great voice...back when life was much more simple....and music was so much better ...RIP Ronnie
A legend, that voice Lord that voice and the way that band played with Ronnie singing like only he could, we will never be blessed with the likes of these guys again, RIP my brother....now and then we all are Aliens.
