You asked about the Kami Band: Yes, they are a session band, but in my opinion, they can really be considered part of Babymetal, even if unofficially. Especially given the stable core members, and how long they've supported Babymetal. *Kami Band East:* Supported Babymetal since 2012 for Encores only, then fully in 2014 for all live. Mikio Fujioka - Guitar (RIP) Leda Cygnus - Guitar Takayoshi Ohmura - Guitar (Pink glam guitar) Bohte Daisuke (BOH) - 6-String Bass Hideki Aoyama - Drums There are a few other members, but the above are their core for almost 8 years. *Kami Band West:* Added in 2019 to assist with increased touring, became sole backing band starting Apr 2023. @@Ganimal83 Thank you very much for this info! I am in awe that you and many of their fans are so passionate that you possess this much knowledge about them. We're always interested in learning more about this band 😀
Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 The trilogy of lights is a beautiful set to enjoy after travelling your journey a little bit more and knowing what all of them have been through, well i guess you already know that bc it seems you're a long time BM fan. Starlight, Shine and Arkadia are the songs in order to feel this experience which represents the ongoing cycle of birth, death and rebirth. See you next time 🦊🤘
Guys your self control in holding it to one new song a week is pretty amazing. I was just to go outdoors on a beautiful, sunny, early spring day but I noticed you two were doing a reaction to "Starlight" so I stuck around. And I'm glad I did. The heartfelt nature of your comments is so genuine and your enthusiasm and obvious joy you take in Babymetal are such a pleasure for a fellow fan to watch. This song is generally believed to be for the beloved Mikio Fujioka. An amazingly talented and charismatic guitarist behind Babymetal who died in 2018 in a tragic fall from an observation deck where he was viewing the evening stars. Which probably helps to explain some of the more contemplative moments in this performance. Nice job as always and I'm hoping to see your subs start to rise up soon. Also looking forward to seeing that Fox mask on the table behind you. Oh and though I've not had the pleasure of seeing Babymetal live I have watched some videos of people going to a show. Closeness to stage, how early to get there etc., etc. Basically it appears to be neither a particularly straight forward or inexpensive process. Ahhhh, but that payoff at the end! I can only imagine.
So yes, you are correct, the lyrics DO tend to have a positive and/or deep meaning. As was alluded to by various people in your comments already, this song is a trilogy. The trilogy talks about the stages of grief. It was a fitting time for this trilogy to come out as it was a very dark period for Babymetal believe it or not. The main guitarist from the session musicians that performed with them had just passed away (R.I.P. Mikio), AND one of the dancers had to leave the band (Yuimetal) due to health reasons. So this song talks about the first stages of grief, the next song in the trilogy is Shine (my personal favorite Babymetal song I think), followed by Arkadia. I would HIGHLY recommend reacting to the rest of the Trilogy before exploring the rest. Also, with shine, it's typically considered best to try and react to the Legend M version if you can as that version feels more personal and shows just how deep and strong the relationship between Su-Metal (the main singer) and Moametal became after Yuimetal left and they had to rely on each other to get through the darkness.
You are making a good point there. Su-metal's soprano voice range separates from the instruments much better than a male voice would, making it much clearer and powerful. Especially in a low tuned djent song like this. I enjoyed your reaction, what I am missing though is the lyrics. You could look it up, or at least check if there is CC in the video. You could also check the top comments. See you in your next BM reaction!
👍 👍 Kudos on stopping the performance for comments while silhouetting Moa's absolutely gorgeous face. Shine LIVE - one of my top 3 Babymetal songs next.
Awesome reaction guys! This was song 1 of the Trilogy of Lights, representing grief, acceptance, and hope for the future. Starlight in particular is speculated by fans to be an unofficial tribute to Mikio Fujioka, Kami Band Guitarist who passed away Jan 2018 after an accidental fall from an observation tower. He was an avid stargazer. This has neither been confirmed nor denied by Babymetal though, so can be a heated discussion in the fan base. The Trilogy: Starlight - Grief and remembrance. Shine - Acceptance and moving on (Legend M version is best, but will probalby require watermarks vs copyright issues). Arkadia - Hope for the future, and call to action to move forward (Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 version). Look forward to more! 🤘🦊
I will also join the ones who told you to follow the Trilogy os light! After this, Shine and then Arkadia are a must!! Oh I love BM expecially because of how varied they can be! You still have no idea 😆 You will see more going forward 😄
😔This song is very special . It's the first part of the trilogy of light We fell very emotional about this. The band Kami has some members who played more frequently . That's why this song is so special Thank you 🤘🦊
Great reaction. 'Starlight' is the first of the three songs that closed the Metal Galaxy album and their producer Kobametal described these three songs as "The Trilogy of Lights". They are not officially a tribute to anybody and were almost certainly written before he had is tragic accident, but most fans with a heart❤ choose to remember the late and great Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) when they listen to them. The lyrics of 'Starlight' in particular are very fitting given that he was an avid amateur astronomer or star gazer and he suffered his tragic accident while star gazing. "Fly higher in the sky [like a star gazer] Fly higher in the night [like a star gazer]...." and the softer part of the song - "Wherever we are we'll be with you We'll never forget shining starlight. Wherever you are live in my heart We'll never forget shooting star." When it comes to the Trilogy of Lights, together they describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close. 'Starlight' - the initial grief and even anger 'Shine' - acceptance and coming to terms with the loss 'Arkadia' - moving on (but not forgetting), looking to the future and better times to come. I hope you will watch the Legend M performance of 'Shine', performed on Moa's 20th birthday. In that performance it was just Su, Moa and an acoustic guitar on a stand on stage (and the symbology again suggests that tribute even though nothing has ever been said to confirm that was what it was ... but again, anybody with eyes and a heart♥must surely see why people see it that way - and they don't do things like this unintentionally even if they don't explain). The Legend M performance is also, in my opinion, possibly Su-metal's finest vocal performance - or it is right up among her very best at the very least and Moa's choreo is very moving and emotional.
Damn, I will never be able to fully enjoy these outer space-themed songs, because somewhere in my head there is a doubt if these songs are dedicated to Yui, since she had a dream of traveling to space one day. This makes me sad somehow. In any case, thank you for reacting to this beautiful performance, we are waiting for the other 2 that complement the trilogy. BabyMetal Forever!! 🦊🦊🦊
Nice reaction. This is the first song of the trilogy of lights. Next up would be “Shine” and the. Finish it off with “Arkadia”. Btw Babymetal toured the US multiple times, last time last year with Deathklok. And they are coming back to the states this year for some shows and festivals :)
Great song, but now you are going to have to do the Trilogy of Lights 😁 Shine is next followed by Arkidia . The songs are about loss dealing with it and moving on ( quick explanation). i am enjoying your journey down the foxhole . So many totally different songs still to see and hear that you will not expect .😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼 Or something totally different Metalii featuring Tom Morello 😁 ua-cam.com/video/RIgjfGHgwDc/v-deo.htmlsi=kxiOnJFAylPJlrH9
Those sets on Ebay also include the blurays of the five fox festival concerts and were released only to fan club members and yes it was limited to 500 sets so the price is pretty fair. The masks that these are based on are sold in the equivalent of dollar stores all over Japan, kind of how you can buy witch masks and clown masks in US stores. So if you only want a mask don't over pay for them, if you want an official Babymetal one then there are options that they sold over the years that are cheaper albeit still overpriced for what they are
Nice reaction. Babymetals versatility is amazing. And it serves them well. Since they've done just about every metal sub-genre. This includes their own. Su has said she use to sing this song angry. I can only take it to mean at the time, this is how she was feeling over the death of Mikkio the guitarist in the Kamiband. And Yuimetal leaving in 2018. Which when you get to look into the lyrics, you'll see how the song could be about the two of them. Another amazing thing about their songs is how they are usually written in a way that allows the listener to interpret the song in a way that relates to them. Next song has to Shine from Legend M concert. The Duo version with only Su and Moa performing. Babymetal, the foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
If you look into the whole Trilogy of Light, which is highly recommended, I think it‘s worth having a look at the lyrics of the three songs. They are telling a story of dealing with the loss of a loved person, and I think they did a good job matching the emotions of the music and the lyrics. It has never been officially confirmed, but many of us believe that the trilogy is a tribute to their guitarist Mikio, who passed away after an accident while stargazing at age 36. We miss you, Mikio!
This is my all time favorite, but there's definitely other ones out there by Babymetal competing for it. Edit: I think there's still 3 shows left in the US this year, including at Sick New World on 4/27, if you're lucky enough to have tickets.
Hi definitely complete trilogy (shine and arkadia) but other commenter suggested dusk to dawn and bxmxc make it the live one though so much greatness for you to discover. A Sumetal solo Amore live at Wembley 😊
you have a long way to go to realize how really great Su is with her voice. she is one of the best out there. she has a great range and styles that you haven't even gotten to. they can do so many different genres and styles of music. wait til you see how they can have three to four different genres into one song and make it work.
good reaction, try from dusk till dawn and BxMxC which will really show you Su-Metals amazing range. When they were put together Su was 12 and Yui and Moa 10 and the talent and energy shine through on everything they do and have done since they started as kids. If your looking for a T shirt you may still be able to get the limited edition Metal Galaxy CD which has the T-shirt in a box with it, I got it as it was the same price as the normal CD and I love the T shirt.
u should 100% check out the lyrics from The other one and Metal Galaxy album, like this starlight and monochrome, or google their meaning, they are quite deep some of them, and from i can understand this starlight is made after yui announced she would't return to babymetal, and one of the guitarist had fallen to he's dead when out stargazing with he's family, i don't know if its facts or fan speculation, i like the idea, anyway im still quite new to babymetal :)
Now you're becoming fully immersed in the foxhole you should look at some of their earlier performances to see how it began. Normal starting point is Headbanger Legend of 1997 Apocalypse, there's a nice 4K remaster of this, and Road Of Resistance live (official) both of which show their level of crowd interaction and stage presence even in their early/mid teens. You should also check the official video for Megitsune, I know you've done the live, but this again shows them early in their career and is a fan favourite with 89m views. Doki Doki Morning official is their first from 2011 (recorded 2010) when Su was 13 and Moa and Yui both 11 or 12; yes really. All of these feature the original line up of Su, Moa and Yui before Yui had to leave the band in 2018 due to health problems.
A precious memory of mine was seeing this song performed live for the first time in Tokyo. It was just after Yuimetal officially left the band, and we were all bummed out by that, but this song seemed an appropriate farewell to her. It was a beautiful moment in their and my history.
Logically Shine and Arkadia are next in trilogy. Please use legend M version of Shine. . .Then I recommend you do the "trilogy of death" as fans have called the final 3 songs of legend 1997 apocalypse (1997 was the year of SuMetal's birth and the show was to celebrate her 16th Birthday. Recorded live in December 2013, it takes you back a bit to see the girls when they were younger. It also would appropriately introduce you to the Eastern Kamiband (only the west in your shows so far). The songs in order are Headbangggggeeeeerrrrr! (Notice 15 letters used at end of word), Akatsuki unfinished (Just Su solo), and . . . . Babymetal DEATH! You will be shocked in the best way! It would be cool to do after trilogy of lights. Additionally, I think you should check out the Lyrics after the songs in the reactions. A fun game to play is seeing if you can get the theme by just watching and hearing. Certainly you will get the emotional tone, but seeing the detailed lyrics after would really bring it home for you. Just suggestions. You really can't go wrong here. 70 songs and nothing I would skip on a playlist with this group! Thank you for sharing your trip down the foxhole with us!!!! Kitsunes up! 🤘🦊🤘
Starlight is the 1st song in the Trilogy of Lights. Others will explain in more detail. The lyrics are beautiful. Many fans have their own theories about the songs meanings but whatever the case, they all are amazing. 🤘🦊🤘
Such a beautiful song. After this trilogy, you really should chexk their unique live version of 'Tales Of Destiny', probably the best prog metal of BM 🤘🤘
The lyrics from "trilogy of light" do have significance - a band member died accidently while star-gazing, and Yui left at a similar time (conincidently? she was into astronomy/star-gazing). Great trilogy imo anyway - and great reaction.
Looks like the Avenger dancing in the third spot is Kano Fujihara, although this might be a compilation video as some of the shots seem to show Riho Sayashi in the third spot. Kano performed Starlight at the Legend M show and Riho performed the entire trilogy at the Legend Metal Galaxy show.
I guess now that you have listened to Starlight, it would make sense to continue with Shine and Arkadia. All decent songs, although perhaps not the most famous ones. It does occur to me though that you might be getting a bit of a skewed perception of what Babymetal's music is like, based on the selection of songs you've heard so far. Don't get me wrong, they have all been great songs, and definitely worth listening to, but I wouldn't exactly call it a very representative mix. It might have lulled you into a false sense of security, thinking that you have an idea of what to expect going forward. But boy are you in for a big surprise. The songs so far have all been relatively "conventional" by Babymetal standards. They are actually much more diverse and experimental than this. What originally put them on the map was their mindboggling mix of cute, lighthearted and playful songs, set to the heaviest of metal music. And they are known for blending metal with unexpected genres, and making some insanely technical and progressive music as well. And let's not forget that the girls were only 10-12 years old when they started, which gives those early songs a whole other vibe. I'm not trying to scare you off, or anything, but I think it's important that you keep a very open mind going forward. You still haven't been exposed to what made Babymetal famous to begin with, and what I love most about them. There's some crazy stuff coming your way, and I just want you to be ready for it. Not Shine and Arkadia though. Those are still safe enough. But sooner or later you're going to come across _Iine_ or _Tales of the Destinies,_ and you won't know what to make of it. That is when Babymetal is at their best. When they force you to question your preconceived notions of what music is supposed to be like. And as soon as you think you've got it figured out, they will throw you for yet another loop. So just strap in and enjoy the ride.
next please go for Shine Legend M 2019 ver - it's really emotional performance especially If you bear in mind the unofficial background of Trilogy of lights (departure of Yui, the original member and tragical loss of Mikio (guitar Kami) . ua-cam.com/video/M6BGL1DsBr0/v-deo.html
"I don't thnk these ladies can produce a bad song." 100% correct. There are some that are merely good, but the number of smash hits are amazing, at least 25 would be in my top 10 🙂. There's only one song I skip, and that is a favourite for heaps of fans, I just don't like ballads. Every song you react to you'll enjoy, if not love.
Imminence with their new album dropped. Here are songs! They from Sweden…. Songs 1. Come Hell or Highwater *MV 2. Desolation *MV 3. Heaven Shall Burn*MV 4. Beyond the Pale (**Visualizer) 5. This song is actually the honoring song of the band dedicated to their recently past away band member.
This song is part of BabyMetal's “trilogy of light” along with “Shine” and “Arkadia”

"Fly higher in the sky [like a star gazer]

and the softer part of the song -
"Wherever we are we'll be with you
We'll never forget shining starlight.
Wherever you are live in my heart
We'll never forget shooting star."
When it comes to the Trilogy of Lights, together they describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close.
'Starlight' - the initial grief and even anger

u should 100% check out the lyrics from The other one and Metal Galaxy album, like this starlight and monochrome, or google their meaning, they are quite deep some of them, and from i can understand this starlight is made after yui announced she would't return to babymetal, and one of the guitarist had fallen to he's dead when out stargazing with he's family, i don't know if its facts or fan speculation, i like the idea, anyway im still quite new to babymetal :)
Also, from 2013 Babymetal Death at Legend 1997 Apocalypse. 1997 refers to Su's birth year ua-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/v-deo.html
This was a compilation of multiple concerts. This is a pretty good one but some are REALLY bad.
Starlight is the 1st song in the Trilogy of Lights. Others will explain in more detail. The lyrics are beautiful. Many fans have their own theories about the songs meanings but whatever the case, they all are amazing. 🤘🦊🤘
this is a tribute to a band member who died suddenly
They just finished their US tour a few months ago. I wasn't able to go cuz I was broke.
Have you tried ARKADIA? That might be the most gorgeous production. Utterly breathtaking.
For the next one i highly recommended to check out "BxMxC" Live if you want to see Su-metal rapping and she ate it.
keep on this trilogy of light before else
Such a beautiful song. After this trilogy, you really should chexk their unique live version of 'Tales Of Destiny', probably the best prog metal of BM 🤘🤘
The lyrics from "trilogy of light" do have significance - a band member died accidently while star-gazing, and Yui left at a similar time (conincidently? she was into astronomy/star-gazing). Great trilogy imo anyway - and great reaction.
As mentioned they tour the statesd
Looks like the Avenger dancing in the third spot is Kano Fujihara, although this might be a compilation video as some of the shots seem to show Riho Sayashi in the third spot. Kano performed Starlight at the Legend M show and Riho performed the entire trilogy at the Legend Metal Galaxy show.
seen them live twice - the will be in Penni's a month go see them
good reaction!
I am intrigued! We'll jump into those songs soon 😀
Thank you for your insight and the comment.
Really isn't a bad song from them... just depends what genre you feel like for that day 😂
next please go for Shine Legend M 2019 ver - it's really emotional performance especially If you bear in mind the unofficial background of Trilogy of lights (departure of Yui, the original member and tragical loss of Mikio (guitar Kami) . ua-cam.com/video/M6BGL1DsBr0/v-deo.html
NEXT WILL BE
BABY METAL
- Headbanger moabanger version
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
would love to see MOMO scream that bit
They composed this song for their guitarist Mikio who passed away in 2018, who fell off a platform while star gazing.
React gimme chocolate, head bangya and rondo of nightmare(red night - kamiband intro). Its very good.
This song is a tribute to yui metal who had to leave Babymetal in 2018 for health reasons
yui is the starlight

I know maybe this can be a bit annoying, but it's a shame to lost what you saying when muted... is there a possibility to add some subtitles for those conversations?
Great reaction as usual!
🦊🦊🦊
We're changing the way we do commentary, we will no longer be muted. We will be audible throughout the entire duration of every video going forward. We will only pause to add lengthy commentary so as to not interrupt the music. Thank you for your support 😀
Tickets to the show in Yokohama were about $115 USD per night with taxes and fees. WELL WORTH IT!!
Watch all the trilogy of light
My recomendation for you.
Similar to monochrome.
-Brand new day
-Light and darkness
Officially and unofficially the song is not a tribute to anyone.
The lyrics sound very much like a tribute to Mikio. I also don't think its a coincidence it was the second song released after he passed away.
Awsome!
