BMW Fanatic Hey so when I got under my engine cover for the first time while Doing my first set of spark plugs I noticed that I have 3 different indexes of injectors 7,9 & 12 if I’m not mistaken the best thing to have is 12 in every bank correct?
The next time I buy a BMW I'm going to take it to the BMW dealer first and have them do a health check up I took my car to BMW for a health checkup I don't even want to say what they found
My friend told me that my problem (staling after a rough idle) was it needed to be driven, on the freeway. I tried it and opened it up and it isn’t having the problem anymore
@@_TulipMania ended up needing me to clean the mass airflow sensor. It got totaled by a truck that turned left in front of me so I bought an 335d and man is it fun
Mines is shaking, rough idling, and surging after I turn on my car. I did a scan tool test and it reads cylinder 6 misfire. I changed the spark plug and coils. Do you believe it is the injector on cylinder 6? Or do I need switch coils from delphi
If you're still having this problem you need to clean the non return valves and replace your vanos solenoids. Make sure everything is super clean and get an oil change when you replace the solenoids.
There is a small difference between fuel in summer and winter, the difference is in the RVP of the fuel. But however, this will not work on a car that has no tune like the JB4 or the MHD (Also NOTE: JB4 is mainly for the N54). I tried this after a small idling issue on my 2011 bmw 328i xDrive (E90 328i LCI, N52B30A) and it did not work. I am getting a scan tool to see if there is any small misfires or other codes. I am taking my car to bmw to get an oil change for $120 and the reason why I'm doing it because they said they'll give me a G20 3 series as a loaner and I love to test out cars. But they do offer a complementary check and I want to see if they talk about any issues that I will use to fix my car in my garage.
I need help , my car has rough idle at cold stars and a 3 second crank before start up. I changed spark plugs , coils, 02 sensor at 131k miles. Currently at 139,338 with no tune. Upgraded my charge pipe and new intakes. Also I changed vanos and my codes are 002AA4 - intake camshaft position monitoring 003100 boost pressure shut down. I have 2007 bmw 335xi.

My 2008 E90 318i is starting to get rough and a little vibration every few seconds while I’m parked or stationary in traffic when in motion it runs fine but I would really like to get to know how to fix this mini jumps the car is going to a a few seconds the whole car vibrates or shakes sometimes play hard other times like a gentle shake? Any advice please its wrecking my head.....
I have the same problem. Dealer said there’s no problem but it’s really annoying. Try testing your ignition coils, spark plugs. If that doesn’t work try cleaning or changing your vanos solenoids, they are responsible for the opening and closing of valves in the engine and exhaust and when they are off it can cause a rough idle or shake.
Matthew Berry I have tried multiple things with no luck, no obd or check engine light, so I’m just waiting until it triggers a sensor. I currently don’t have the time either, I assume it’s something with the ignition, possibly a coil or a spark plug. So I’m waiting for one to fully go out not just misfire

Hey love the channel but you should of definitely included carbon build up/walnut blast as another possibility to a rough idle. Should also be done every 50k miles. Specially for those people who may have never done it and aren’t getting codes, mite be carbon build up. Otherwise great video!
I have a 2007 323i with 180k on it I’ve done coils plugs vanos injectors I’m at a lost it still has a terrible shake at idle but it drives no codes got it with 169k
Clean off the carbon in your intake - u don't need a walnut blaster, just an oil extractor with 1/4 RO line and a valve to control, lots of brake cleaners (or gasoline), and bundle up a bunch of 8 inch cable ties (one min each valve). Do a "smoke" test - first by replacing the charge pipe with a glove, then pump little compressed air into the vacuum line. If the glove blows up and hold (for a while), then no need to "smoke". Also change the spark plugs - don't use autolite. Make sure the compensation numbers on the injectors are programmed into the DME correctly (get a K_D can cable and download ISTA).... These are the cheap steps u should take before investing into replacing expensive parts.
Hey man I hope u can read this message I have a 1990 bmw 535i and it’s idling rough and doesn’t want to start now and it has like poor acceleration sometimes. It also has different start up times and now it’s just not running right now but it is cranking. It has stuttered as well when I accelerated. What would be the issue?
I have e92 2011. I am having similar problems with revs. Engine light is on constant. After scanning I found cylinder 2 misfire, I had it replaced with a new one. Sadly the problem cam back next day. Another scan and this time it was cylinder 5. Replaced again and problem came back in 20 min of driving. Now I had another scan from a better software and it showed so many errors in engine management. They guy told me that it’s the ECU, must have got wet and needs attention. Right now I am at garage and looking at it. I am sick and tired of BMW’s. Had similar problem with my e90.
you swapped out just a few spark plugs? thats your first issue. You're a tight arse moron. Why not replace them all at once not just the one that needs attention? derp move.
I have an issue at idle, it revs up and down stops on acceleration, fuel consumption is down., I put a new mass air flow in and got worse. Do I have to reset computer. Before stating. When I unplug new mass air it idles better but not right. Can a fuel leak cause this issue because I have one.

i did a adaption reset last week mine gone a little worse since....im getting a few hiccups cold idle ...and sometimes idle would change to 750rpms ....after adaption reset...soon as its warmed up its going to 750rpms all time now...( not sure if its anything to do with it or coicidence )...gonna start with ngk plugs and delphi coils see were i get last owner fitted index 12 injectors with reciete so i cant see it being an injector fault ....running stock apart from k@n replacement filter and vsr downpipes

With that being said I am seriously lost and I am in need of some dire help. My 2009 335ix is getting flooded inside everytime it rains. Thought it was the front windshield- replaced it. Was told it could be the drains from the sun roof- clean them. Common is issue at times could be the seal behind door panels- don't think is that, or have read that it can be caused by a leakage through the cabin air filter. Could do a video regarding this issue and potential fixes. I hardly use my car and have cover protecting it from the rain. Would hate to get rid of it because of this issue and I feel that it could be something simple to fix. I'm in Allentown, PA so anything or anyone you could recommend would be much appreciated. Hi! I got a E92 bmw 2007 , 2.5i 92.000 miles on the clock..The problemI got is the engine just cut of at lower speed. I changed the VANOS solenoids the oil filter and the oil, but nothing happend, engine cuts of at lawer speeds.Can you give me some advices please! , I see you know all about this tipe of engines.Thanks allot!!!

Hi, quick question. My e46, is having a rought idle. And when reving up the engine, it wouldn’t go past 2000 rpm and goes down right away and hesitates. I’ve done cleaning the spark plugs all coils are good. Cleaned out idle control valve, dissa valve amd crankcase vent valves. I’m looking into vanos. But wanted to ask if you have any clue? So I have 3 new index 12 injectors in 4,5,6. I did the carbon blasting, changed my plugs, and the previous owner bought new coils a year ago. Car is stock and now well maintained (Because of me) I haven't got a misfire since I did all the work but when changing my plugs I did notice oil on 5 and 6 plugs. Since I changed them I only got a misfire on cylinders 4 5 and 6 maybe twice and I have a rough idle most of my mornings but then it goes back to normal. I also notice my car was missing one bar of oil on the iDrive. I want your opinion but I'm guessing this is the valve cover gasket? Minor leak but I guess i gotta do it? :( I've diagnosed everything else. Car is still stock.
id guess so, i just did mine because of the same thing. spark plug wells 5 and 6 were pretty oiled up and when i took the coil off the boot was loaded up which causes a misfire obviously. if youre gunna diy it, id give it a solid day or two evenings. its a pain in the ass getting the like one billion valve cover bolts out
Leandro valve cover gasket. It sucks but you can do it . Follow the guide on ecs tuning or UA-cam vid . Took me one whole day since it was my first time
I have a 2009 750i BMW I just bought it about 3 weeks ago I had to take it back they said they changed the spark plugs the CV valve and the alternator however when I first started the idle is very rough I give it about 7 minutes to calm down any advice
HELP! I have an idle issue AFTER changing plugs and coil packs at 65,000 miles (N52). The idle “hunts” every few minutes, raises and drops about 500 rpms. A little worse with AC on. Other than that runs AWESOME with new parts. Stock N52. Thanks!
Thanks- I replaced both the gas cap and the oil filler cap and one of those fixed the problem! I actually sold the car to Carvana a few months ago. They offered a great price so at 78,000 miles I took it💰

BMW Fanatic , it depends on which NGK you get. They have all kinds of heat ranges. Not an accurate response. NGK are the way to go. They aren't in 80% of the cars in the world, for no reason.
I’ve changed battery cleaned fuel injectors I’ve changed spark plugs still have no idea why I have a rough idle on my 07 bmw 328i my computer reader doesn’t work either so I have no clue
I just swapped out my injectors to index 12 and changed the spark plugs as well. I reset adaptations and when I started the car the idle was super rough. It’s smoothing out now but nowhere near as smooth as it was before I reset everything. I’ve put about an hour of highway miles on it since. I’m also running mhd stage 1 tune. Is this this normal or am I missing a step? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you get the injectors coded to the car? They have different flow rates and not every injector is the same so they need to be adjusted accordingly by the DME
I have a 318 I 2008 model and I’m getting a rough idle when it starts it’s like shuddering a little bit when it’s in idle or after driving with no obvious signs in the engine, but my oil levels are going down a lot? Anybody offer any help would really appreciate it, thank you!
MadDavid depends. i had leaky injectors and sometimes it would throw misfire codes.. if an o2 sensor fails 100% you would have a service engine soon light
Depends, mine never did when my Injectors were failing...no fuel on the plugs too. It all pointed to that and it was the best move to make to replace all 6

No. My boss is trying to sell me his bmw 5 series with the 2.5 inline 6. He let me use it as a work car for a week or so. It has 120k miles for 5500 USD which is nothing. The only problem is the engine has a rough idle and im wondering if i can fix it, hence why im here. His mechanics are dumbasses when it comed to foreign cars imo
In America the problem is you can’t find a trust worthy mechanic, 95% are crooks. I work on my own BMW but sometimes I need professional help/opinion and can’t find it unless I’m willing to pay out the ass for help, that’s what makes it expensive to own.
He's using the Jb4 with a Mhd back end flash. The debate on if it's safer or not is up for debate. Some say yes others say no. I run mhd but I'm going to pick up a jb4 to run both too.
I really wish mhd was for n52 also pretty fucked up how the n52 gets completely forgot about, its a very common car and extremely similar to n54, its sad how the potential of these cars is held soo far back just because of the ecu and the abillity to mod it.
Hey brother I have a idle problem as I’m driving though between 40-65 mph , I literally have to press down on medal to go faster or I’m almost jerking around , have replaced everything from o2s throttle body both fuel pumps plugs n coils , the only thing missing now is injectors
Do a vacuum check with a smoke machine. Vacuum leaks (cracked hoses/intake boots) = unmetered air (MAF is bypassed). = poor idle/shakes. It also could be VANOS related or a dozen other things but start with vacuum IMHO.
I have changed all spark plugs and coils. New HPFP and 2 new Vanos solenoids. Also changed oil and coolant. But still have a rough idle when AC is OFF. Any ideas? N53 E92.
Same with people. after about 100 years they tend to have a bunch of problems, Luckily the people with half a brain can easily fix and mend engine problems before anything goes bad
I have have an issue that used to trip it when I let it idle for a while, it would get rough and have power loss. Turn it off and turn it back on and voila it would work perfect again. It has slowly gotten worse but a restart always resets it. What is it ? I believe I’ve pinned to injectors.

I fully drained it on my MT 335i. only 1.4 liters came out and I was able to fill it with 1.98 liters ( to spec) with no overfill. After doing this my shifts were buttery smooth and no longer dry. Change it if you can right away, there is no such thing as a life time fluid
I only use shell 99 octane in uk. Had to change all 6 coils and plugs, (nox sensor £250+.) just for part. Had rocker cover gasket renewed, full serviced every 6000 miles. It still misfires now and again like a bitch. Hopefully not injectors.

The above video works with a JB4 or MHD tune not a car without a tune. Your options would be to get a code reader and check for issues and then take it from there or be ready to get ripped off and take the car to the dealership.

If your car has a long crank and rough idle, it most likely is the High Pressure Fuel Pump.
How much did all of that cost you ??
Btw this only works if you have an N54 with a JB4 plug in tuner

@@minh_d3475 Probably not. Your best bet is to scan the codes and go from there. If theres not codes then replace the spark plugs, and go from there

Can you do this through MHD? Also what values are you resetting just Air/Fuel or everything?

No warning lights on in my 318d but when car warms up a bit idling gets all over the place

hayley Farah sounds like your getting misfires. Grab an obd2 scanner and see what cylinder is misfiring

Brother love your channel, been a loyal subscriber for a while. I live how you troubleshoot all your car problems, and how you are so willing to help others in the N54 and N55 community. With that being said I am seriously lost and I am in need of some dire help. My 2009 335ix is getting flooded inside everytime it rains. Thought it was the front windshield- replaced it. Was told it could be the drains from the sun roof- clean them. Common is issue at times could be the seal behind door panels- don't think is that, or have read that it can be caused by a leakage through the cabin air filter. Could do a video regarding this issue and potential fixes. I hardly use my car and have cover protecting it from the rain. Would hate to get rid of it because of this issue and I feel that it could be something simple to fix. I'm in Allentown, PA so anything or anyone you could recommend would be much appreciated. Thanks and sorry for the lengthy message.

That “O2 Sensor” you mentioned, is that the Front Upstream Oxygen Sensor?
Is that what you would mention if you have to buy it?
Sensor 1 is the one that sends signal to adjust rich or lean, sensor 2 reads the end results after the cat.

Hi! I got a E92 bmw 2007 , 2.5i 92.000 miles on the clock..The problemI got is the engine just cut of at lower speed. I changed the VANOS solenoids the oil filter and the oil, but nothing happend, engine cuts of at lawer speeds.Can you give me some advices please! , I see you know all about this tipe of engines.Thanks allot!!!

Hi, quick question. My e46, is having a rought idle. And when reving up the engine, it wouldn’t go past 2000 rpm and goes down right away and hesitates. I’ve done cleaning the spark plugs all coils are good. Cleaned out idle control valve, dissa valve amd crankcase vent valves. I’m looking into vanos. But wanted to ask if you have any clue? Pls help. 🙏🏽 or anyone here had this problem. Please help. Thank you

So I have 3 new index 12 injectors in 4,5,6. I did the carbon blasting, changed my plugs, and the previous owner bought new coils a year ago. Car is stock and now well maintained (Because of me) I haven't got a misfire since I did all the work but when changing my plugs I did notice oil on 5 and 6 plugs. Since I changed them I only got a misfire on cylinders 4 5 and 6 maybe twice and I have a rough idle most of my mornings but then it goes back to normal. I also notice my car was missing one bar of oil on the iDrive.
I want your opinion but I'm guessing this is the valve cover gasket? Minor leak but I guess i gotta do it? :( I've diagnosed everything else. Car is still stock.
id guess so, i just did mine because of the same thing. spark plug wells 5 and 6 were pretty oiled up and when i took the coil off the boot was loaded up which causes a misfire obviously. if youre gunna diy it, id give it a solid day or two evenings. its a pain in the ass getting the like one billion valve cover bolts out
Leandro valve cover gasket. It sucks but you can do it . Follow the guide on ecs tuning or UA-cam vid . Took me one whole day since it was my first time

I have a 2009 750i BMW I just bought it about 3 weeks ago I had to take it back they said they changed the spark plugs the CV valve and the alternator however when I first started the idle is very rough I give it about 7 minutes to calm down any advice
Could try replacing valve seals and or having the intake cleaned from carbon build up. Currently having the same issues with my 07 550i same engine

THEzxKING9 Just normal oil changes are plenty good with a high quality oil. No need to add extra stuff in there.

HELP! I have an idle issue AFTER changing plugs and coil packs at 65,000 miles (N52). The idle “hunts” every few minutes, raises and drops about 500 rpms. A little worse with AC on. Other than that runs AWESOME with new parts. Stock N52. Thanks!

Thanks- I replaced both the gas cap and the oil filler cap and one of those fixed the problem! I actually sold the car to Carvana a few months ago. They offered a great price so at 78,000 miles I took it💰

NGK are colder, but I’ve been on the BMW branded Bosch ones for 60k miles being tuned - never once had a misfire at high boost
BMW Fanatic , it depends on which NGK you get. They have all kinds of heat ranges. Not an accurate response. NGK are the way to go. They aren't in 80% of the cars in the world, for no reason.
NGK iridium plugs. don't buy Bosch plugs what ever you do.

I’ve changed battery cleaned fuel injectors I’ve changed spark plugs still have no idea why I have a rough idle on my 07 bmw 328i my computer reader doesn’t work either so I have no clue
low compression on one of the cylinders.. car is done
I just swapped out my injectors to index 12 and changed the spark plugs as well. I reset adaptations and when I started the car the idle was super rough. It’s smoothing out now but nowhere near as smooth as it was before I reset everything. I’ve put about an hour of highway miles on it since. I’m also running mhd stage 1 tune. Is this this normal or am I missing a step? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you get the injectors coded to the car? They have different flow rates and not every injector is the same so they need to be adjusted accordingly by the DME
I have a 318 I 2008 model and I’m getting a rough idle when it starts it’s like shuddering a little bit when it’s in idle or after driving with no obvious signs in the engine, but my oil levels are going down a lot? Anybody offer any help would really appreciate it, thank you!
This is happening to me but I know the oil is getting passed the seal into the exhaust in my turbos....they're overdue.

MadDavid depends. i had leaky injectors and sometimes it would throw misfire codes.. if an o2 sensor fails 100% you would have a service engine soon light
Depends, mine never did when my Injectors were failing...no fuel on the plugs too. It all pointed to that and it was the best move to make to replace all 6

I’ve replaced coilpacks & plugs and still have a rough hiccupy idle & cold start, goes through WOT fine with no misfires and can’t get it to through a code with whatever I do. No. My boss is trying to sell me his bmw 5 series with the 2.5 inline 6. He let me use it as a work car for a week or so. It has 120k miles for 5500 USD which is nothing. The only problem is the engine has a rough idle and im wondering if i can fix it, hence why im here. His mechanics are dumbasses when it comed to foreign cars imo
In America the problem is you can’t find a trust worthy mechanic, 95% are crooks. I work on my own BMW but sometimes I need professional help/opinion and can’t find it unless I’m willing to pay out the ass for help, that’s what makes it expensive to own.

He's using the Jb4 with a Mhd back end flash. The debate on if it's safer or not is up for debate. Some say yes others say no. I run mhd but I'm going to pick up a jb4 to run both too.

I really wish mhd was for n52 also pretty fucked up how the n52 gets completely forgot about, its a very common car and extremely similar to n54, its sad how the potential of these cars is held soo far back just because of the ecu and the abillity to mod it.
N52 internals are not the greatest either. They would be max on 8psi of boost, which it would be faster sure, but maxed so soon

Hey brother I have a idle problem as I’m driving though between 40-65 mph , I literally have to press down on medal to go faster or I’m almost jerking around , have replaced everything from o2s throttle body both fuel pumps plugs n coils , the only thing missing now is injectors
Do a vacuum check with a smoke machine. Vacuum leaks (cracked hoses/intake boots) = unmetered air (MAF is bypassed). = poor idle/shakes. It also could be VANOS related or a dozen other things but start with vacuum IMHO.

I have changed all spark plugs and coils. New HPFP and 2 new Vanos solenoids. Also changed oil and coolant. But still have a rough idle when AC is OFF. Any ideas?

How do you do that on a 2006 325i
I have have an issue that used to trip it when I let it idle for a while, it would get rough and have power loss. Turn it off and turn it back on and voila it would work perfect again. It has slowly gotten worse but a restart always resets it. What is it ? I believe I’ve pinned to injectors.

I've noticed more and more sub channels.... is there any possibility you can either direct me to, or make a in depth video of every mode/channel and sub feature in the steering control? I found a small write up on some jb4 control options. But yet to find the holy grail of all the information of jb4 options. I'd love a full blown tutorial. Like I said, I have seen your video. Well, there is 9 channels, and 9 sub menu options. So is there actually 81 different options? What do they all do? What should we never mess with? I'm sure it's going to be a long video. But you would be the only one on UA-cam with it. I'll definitely like and share it. I'm not picking your great content apart. And I have no idea what all the steering control options do. I'd just really like to know what we can play with, and what should be avoided. And a better understanding of all the areas in between. Is there a factory reset. Have you done any transmission service filter/fluid change on your 335?
I fully drained it on my MT 335i. only 1.4 liters came out and I was able to fill it with 1.98 liters ( to spec) with no overfill. After doing this my shifts were buttery smooth and no longer dry. Change it if you can right away, there is no such thing as a life time fluid

I only use shell 99 octane in uk. Had to change all 6 coils and plugs, (nox sensor £250+.) just for part. Had rocker cover gasket renewed, full serviced every 6000 miles. It still misfires now and again like a bitch. Hopefully not injectors.

The above video works with a JB4 or MHD tune not a car without a tune. Your options would be to get a code reader and check for issues and then take it from there or be ready to get ripped off and take the car to the dealership.
