I think just having it on the streaming platforms will give this era a massive jump in popularity. There's generations of new fans coming into Sabbath that now have the entire catalog to explore and enjoy without any of the "bias" for the classic era or caught up in the "Sabbath" sound that comes from a lot of older fans that grew up with all the changes. Also, the ease of downloading the albums from streaming platforms and a lot of cool UA-cam channels like yours that give the era some love will get a lot of fans back into them or let people maybe give it a second chance ... I've certainly gotten into a lot of the later Dio solo stuff and Judas Priest albums that I previously dismissed, mainly because it's so easy to listen to now!!!
No it will just give more people more reason to treat that era for what it was, a joke.

@@martymartin2894Yes, they have Headless Cross and Anno Mundi on Spotify now as preview tracks with the artwork (official) and apparently the albums are available for pre-order on iTunes, so it looks like those two platforms will have them for sure. I think the only reason they weren’t is because they didn’t have the licensing set up, that’s all.

I’ve never preordered something faster. With these, I’ll have the complete discography, and ‘Headless Cross’ has always been in my top 5 Sabbath albums.

Yea seems sad that the album box set without Eternal Idol isn't a full Mattin era. I have Headless Cross and Tyr cds and Cross Purposes and Forbidden on cassettes. Eternal Idol on tape also. Cross Purposes live the VHS. No good VHS player since last one VHS/DVD combo conked out years ago. And to see on Black Sabbath site no mention of DIO or Martin or anything else to Sabbath then just Ozzy era. The site isn't what it use to be or should be for fans of Sabbath. Great insights guys.
I just love the fact that there are these various eras of Sabbath and there is something for everyone. It’s just fantastic to have so much on offer. For years I was an Ozzy only kind of fan, but now, I love it all. Ozzy is still the best for me, but very excited about this box set.
dude i haven’t stopped listening to Headless Cross since it (re) dropped such great lyrics and vocals. Had never heard a Tony Martin BS song before.
I’ve ordered the box set on Rhino. I never bought the Tony Martin era Black Sabbath albums first time around. It will be great to hear Cozy’s signature drumming and Geezer’s presence on ‘Cross Purposes’. I’ve always enjoyed the Deep Purple family-Black Sabbath amalgamations. Re-listening to Ryan’s Sabbath Bloody Sabbath podcasts and checking in with Black-Sabbath online too. Thanks for covering this forthcoming release.
Would be awesome to see them do a NA tour Tony Martin, Tony Iommi, Geezer, Vinny Appice.

I'm so glad that these albums would really exists. These are amongs my favorites Sabbath albums. No need to look for original pressings now ! I can't wait. I agree I would love some shirts and posters with these albums covers.

Tony Martin is an undervalued era but to my ears after Sabotage: Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules and Dehumaniser are classic Sabbath too
@@jimmycampbell78 Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules and Born again are classics, Dehumanizer is an outright hollow album with no feeling whatsoever. Worst Sabbath album along with 13. Headless Cross to my ears is the best and most consistent one since Sabotage.

Born Again is good but has a couple of duff tracks.
Only thing I can criticise about Dehumaniser is that its maybe slightly too long. Otherwise it's better than any Tony Martin Sabbath album. Every Martin album has got duff tracks on it.
Dehumaniser has Dio, it also has Iommi's heaviest and best recorded riffs since Mob Rules and Born Again.
@@jimmycampbell78 I don't think having Dio saves it, even though I love him. Dehumanizer just doesn't work, sound is horrible, riffs are sub par, there are no memorable melodies except I and After All (The Dead), those are good tracks. There's no weak tracks on The Eternal Idol, Headless Cross and Tyr, well maybe the last two tracks aren't that hot, Cross Purposes is great, Forbidden not so much.

Actually, there are quite a few good quality compact disc players out there. Anyone who truly loves music, has maintained a good home stereo system. I haven’t heard a streaming service yet, that sounds half as good as cd’s. Physical copies are forever. You pay once. I have a ton of music, that’s not available on streaming services. I don’t need music Bluetooth’d to sunglasses, sounding tinny. I wanna sit with a Cuban cigar, and a glass of high end cognac, and entertain in my man cave. Whether it’s a record, cassette, or cd. They all sound better than streaming, with good equipment. These new generations are missing out on listening to whole albums. Which is the entire experience. I’m happy to see record parties are happening again. Cd and record sales have gone up, and I think people are realizing that they are giving up quality for quantity. 🤘🏻
maybe they'll do a Tony Martin's greatest hits on vinyl or a vinyl of "Sabbath Stones"
The 2 songs released sound good. Headless Cross is a bit less swamped in reverb, Tyr seems to have clearer drums
I just found out about Guintini Project 2 from a friend recently, fronted by Tony Martin, I haven't stopped listening to it, it sounds alot like Headless Cross!
@itchyomalley - There are three Giuntini Project albums with Tony Martin singing (entitled II, III, IV). Also, check out three albums by The Cage, all with Tony singing and another great Italian guitarist named Dario Mollo, who produced the Giuntini albums. Tony also sings on the Empire album, Trading Souls, and the Rondinelli album, Our Cross, Our Sins, with Bobby Rondinelli, who played drums in Rainbow, Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. Tony also has several solo albums, including Back Where I Belong, Scream and his most recent, Thorns. You may be aware of these, but in case you weren’t, they’re all worth seeking out. 🤘🏼

Love the Ozzy, Dio, and others eras. But the Martin Era to me was more on the serious note of things. Martin Era seemed much darker and heavier. Iommi was playing on a higher more epic level of sound. ------ The best studio production album so far is 13. I hope Iommi will collaborate with Martin for something similar in sound.
Also with Cross Purposes Live Tony Martin supposedly was sick during the recording. So his voice was not as strong. If true, it would explain his performance on the VHS Tour Tape.
Bring it on ! Anno Domini box is gonna be great. Now we need to get a Born Again box !!
Agreed plus The Eighth Star recordings restored ;) That'd never happen but I didn't think the DEP sessions hit quite the same.

My disappointments are that Iommi didn't restore the TM version of Dehumaniser, that would've been very interesting and the absence of The Eternal Idol. The Eternal Idol is a fine album, I actually prefer the Ray Gillen recording but both versions are superb IMO.
Love that this set is finally being made. I'm getting the CD set anyway but for those getting the vinyl set, there should at least be a download code for the bonus tracks. How difficult would that be?

I get the whole thing being all the IRS albums. But, the weird thing is about the non-inclusion of The Eternal Idol. Rhino is owned by Warner. Or it least it was as far as I can remember. THAT’S why I think it’s weird that EI can’t be included.

Even though the Tony Martin era is not my favorite, I am still excited to hear the rereleases. The Forbidden remix might be interesting. I seem to remember reading or hearing somewhere that unreleased tracks with singers other than Ozzy are not allowed to be released. I can't remember the source, so that may not be accurate. I've noticed what you are saying about the Black Sabbath website. I find it frustrating that only the Ozzy era is represented.

As a fan of the Ozzy, Dio & Gillan eras, l look forward to diving into the Tony Martin albums. Sure I’ve heard them all, but not for many years. I worked in record stores for over three decades, but l never really got into these albums. Now that I’m older - and hopefully wiser - I’d like to give the Martin records another chance. With the talent involved - Iommi, Powell, Geezer, Martin, etc. - I’m sure there’s some choice gems 💎 amongst each album.

Yeah, I've heard the rough mixes and they sound surprisingly good. In some ways actually better because I prefer the way the guitar sounds and the overall mix - or lack there-of. Ernie c. you're fired!
Its nothing to write home about guys it doesn't have any live concerts or dvds or anything, just a booklet with a few pictures i won't be paying 100 for it anyway. Hopefully it will be put on streaming.
Unfortunately Iommi truly sold his soul to the Devil.....$haron. I'm sure it seemed like the thing to do at the time, but he must have known she would do her best to destroy everything he did from 1980-1995. Oh well, what's done is done. I concur, I would cheerfully kill to see something new from the two Tony's. Something like the Iommi/Hughes albums would be amazing. Geezer would not be on board, but I'm sure Neil Murray would be willing. Or, bring The Beast out of retirement. He still does some local stuff. Drummers? Rondinelli would be the obvious choice, but Eric Singer is freed up now. He has said in the past that he'd love to work with Iommi again. We can dream...
While I can't claim to be a huge fan of the Tony Martin era, I am glad these albums are being reissued. It does seem kind of weak to not put some real effort into giving fans of this era some meaningful or at least enlightening extras. It's maddening at times how few bones my favorite band throws us.
So bummed this doesn’t include THE ETERNAL IDOL - the best Tony Martin album.
They already did a reissue on the Eternal Idol 2 CD set
Never really been interested in this era. Mostly because the albums/CD’s are hard to find and used are even pricey. Now I will stream and see because I am interested to hear these albums for myself. If I like them enough definitely interested in the CD box version 🤘🏻
I would have liked to see the bonus tracks on a one sided 12 inch with a classic engraving on the other side … it’s a no brainier really…
Headless Cross, Cross Purposes and Forbidden should be 2xLPs with the entire album plus bonus track over the course of 2 LPs. TYR doesn't need to be a 2xLP since there is no bonus track.
Unfortunately having 3 out of the 4 LPS x 2 would have most likely raise the cost of the package and I think BMG was probably trying to keep the cost down as it's a somewhat risky package to sell for over $100.

Fact no extra material or really good live recordings owned by Black Sabbath. Bootleg soundboard recordings or fm radio broadcast are rip-offs for the fans paying hard earned money for low fidelity recordings.

it’s good that this stuff is available again for those who haven’t heard them before. But other than the Forbidden remix it’s a serious disappointment for us Martin-era fans wanting some rarities, live songs etc. Your speculation re the reasons behind that is more than likely well founded…Pettiness is never in short supply when it comes to the business of Black $abbath and the Osbournes in particular. A real shame. I’ll buy it but I’ll wait for a few months for the inevitable price drops.

Just a theory. Never said it was the reason. There definitely seems to be more "push back" from the Ozzy organization regarding the 90's era product vs. 80's (Dio era). No one really knows why any of these things happen the way they do unless you're on the inside, and obviously, that's a very select group of individuals. All anyone can do is speculate - for the sake of discussion.

PMI entertainment who owns the rights to the film is asking a king's ransom to aquire the rights to the concert film same as the California Jam and Live Eivil film footage.
Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osborne are 50/50 co- owners of the name Black Sabbath everyone else is a paid employee for Sabbath Sharon Osborne has been in charge of marketing since the nineties.
Why isn't eternal Idol included? I know it was originally meant to have Ray Gillen sing, but Martin wound up doing it. It should be as much a part of this era as the other four.
We address that in about the first 10 mins of the video. Eternal Idol is on Warner Brothers records and it was recently released as a deluxe edition CD.
The records in this boxset were all released on I.R.S. records and have been out of print for years and unavailable on the streaming services. Until now.

Black Sabbath played their last concert on February 4th 2017 in Birmingham England. Tony Iommi has been involved with the Birmingham Ballet Sabbath show and working on his solo project along with Sergio Momo @xerjoff perfume Co and Gibson Guitars Cesar Gueikian CEO of Gibson Guitars.

Remastered is not the same as being remixed only Forbidden has been remixed for the Anno Domini deluxe Ed box set. Hopefully there is sonic improvement for Headless Cross,Tyr and Cross Purposes ✝️ take care brother 🙏 Mike 😊
Mike if you're interested in hearing a great recording listen to Nantucket Sleighride recorded live in 73 by Felix Pappalardi by Mountain. It doesn't matter if it's on vinyl,CD,remastered or remixed a great sound engineer producer can always get a great sound all these remastered recordings are cash 💸 grabs that don't sound good no matter how many times they're remastered.
Tony Iommi recorded the song Paranoid on a 62/63 Gibson Les Paul that was a gift from Leslie West when Mountain came to England the rest of the songs were recorded with the Customized Gibson 64 SG aka the Monkey 🐒 that he used for the first 6 albums and tours until John Diggins employee for for John Birch built his custom SG in late 75 early 76 used to record Technical Ecstasy.

Hope they release these separately at some point. I have the OG vinyl pressings of Headless Cross and Tyr, but those remasters are sounding nice and I’d be willing to buy those. I got no interest in Forbidden or Cross Purposes though, those albums are terrible imo and no remix or remaster is gonna fix that.
What bothers me with those boxset re-issues, is that there is no logic to it. They did some early albums but skipped some pretty important ones (s/t, Master of Reality, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath), then they release Technical Ecstasy and complain about the sells being low. Then they skip Never Say Die, Heaven and Hell & Mob Rules and go straight to Live Evil. And now again, skip a bunch of albums to get to this boxset, which I'm very happy is happening. I'd like to know what the reason is behind releasing an album or skipping it...
I'm looking forward to hear Forbidden with a good mix, I feel like there are some good tracks there too. Any addition to the Sabbath collection is welcome imo.

Yeah, I agree...100%. What is the order of these things. It's so random. I would love to have a 'Master of Reality' box pretty much before anything else at this point...then let's move on to NSD, SBS, S/T...then Born Again.
I believe that H&H and MR are done though. No deluxe box just 2xLPs. Even stranger was the SBS, 50th annivesary (smoke colored) vinyl ed. that come out recently and it was actually 51 years not 50....just mind boggling.
No bonus material for MOR and SBS
@richardhincemon they haven't come out in super deluxe editions so I'm not sure what you're referring to? There is material that would make up a bonus material disc for MoR, alternative takes and an unreleased song.
Also plenty of live material to choose from. Just depends on how generous they want to be with it. The bonus material has already been released on the Rhino 2xLP reissue from 2016.
As far as SBS a remaster would be nice, perhaps a remix and maybe the obligatory live show would easily suffice.
@darinmccloskey9906 Master of Reality deluxe Ed with alternate takes already has been released alternate lyrics and Lord of this World slide guitar and piano. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath rehearsal at Clearwell Castle and recorded at Morgan Studio no bonus material as they were ready to record that album lyrics and music well planned before entering Morgan Studio London. The 75 concert included with the Sabotage box set contains the best of SBS live recordings Killing Yourself To Live,Spiral Architect and Sabra Cadabra other than Sweet Leaf very few songs on MOR were played live in the early seventies. More were played for the Reunion Ozzfest shows. Children of the Grave was also played as an encore in 71 when I saw Sabbath in 72 only Sweet Leaf was played and Fairies Wear Boots was the encore not Paranoid or COTG this was before Vol 4 was recorded and they were already playing Tommorows Dream
and Snowblind Ozzy Osborne had the lyrics taped to his microphone stand before teleprompters were being used.

Tony's currently working on a solo album😅
Tony Iommi has enough material for a solo album project but is deciding whether to use vocalist or orchestral arrangements for the album 🤔 it's doubtful that he would record with Tony Martin but possibly a song of two he is popular throughout Europe.
Why didn't he remix headless cross which sounds muddy instead of forbidden which no one likes anyway.
Sabbath are my favorite band but this era for me has always been corny

Very dissapointing! Also they should check the title, Annis Domini is surely the correct plural!
All formations of Sabbath are great and each singer bought his own take on the sound and their interpretation of other eras of this great band.
Who buys CDs anymore all this is is a collector's item you can't find anything to play it on they don't have cd players and cars anymore you can't buy a CD player so unless you have one already you're just buying it for a collector's item
You pay $100.00 dollars 💸 for vinyl and $60.00 dollars for the CD box set with extra songs not on the vinyl box set. The meeting with Tony Martin was to discuss re- recording vocals for Forbidden but was quickly dropped when Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osborne became co - owners of the Black Sabbath name.

The Ultimate disappointment all in one place in boxset form, for me the Martin era was for me a complete failure, l live in Australia & at the time the Headless Cross 89/90 'World tour was cancelled here due to lack of interest, the albums to follow did not sell in any great quantity & the once great Sabbath were fading fast into the ether of irrelevance, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Ozzy & the Grunge scene were running rings around Sabbath, sellout tours, album sales all making zillions & unfortunately Sabbath were dead in the water, l believe frontmen especially non original can either make or break a band, u can hide Drummer's & bass players but guitarists & Vocalists have nowhere to hide & the fans (especially Sabbath fans) have to believe & accept that frontman, his pedigree & power, maybe Martin can sing but for me NOT in a band like Black Sabbath, maybe in Aerosmith or Bon Jovi but NOT Black Sabbath, the damage has been done & if other people want to be punished all over again by this unfortunate era of dud albums that's up to them, if they sell more than 1000 boxsets they can count themselves lucky, there is no accounting for taste.
I am from Perth, and would have gone to see them with Tony, his time with band were amazing especially Headless Cross Forbidden maybe not so good but still amazing and fantasticaly handed the Ozzy tracks live, unfortunity never got to see him with band but to say he was no good is a load of rubbish
Anno Domini over a million advanced orders and the Tony Martin Era of Black Sabbath needs to be available for people who want to hear different Sabbath material other than Paranoid and Iron man.
Tony Martin is a little bit overrated as a singer in a band as Black Sabbath. He missis the weirdness of Ozzy and the darkness of Dio in his voice. Overall the best album with Tony Martin is left out in this box, the eternal idol. I said, buy all you Black Sabbath followers….
