    I would strongly recommend full over the ear hearing protection when shooting indoors. I thought your shot timer was a bit faint, but from someone who lost hearing from automatic weapons and explosions you helped a lot by turning it up. I thought it was broken.
    Anyway, love the audio trigger timing. I believe it to be the best drill to settle your trigger finger down, and not let it pull or push off the target. Sometimes you get an out of control trigger finger and you have to show it who’s boss.😎

    I'm an Aussie 🇦🇺 we do a similar comp here at my local. 25 metres, target opens for 3 seconds, closes for 7, for 5 shots, times 4 repeats. We must drop the pistol to 75°, can't put it down but ironsights only ... definately let's you know if youre not as good as you think 🤓. Stay safe.

    So when I've had people come out to shoot and they're disappointed with their shot placement or grouping, I try to give them some perspective. Now take that paper target and hold the x over the center of your breastbone. Now look at the shot placement on a human sized target. Would those shots have saved your life, and/or stopped the assailant?

    Great drill! I think I’ll listen to the par several times to get a feel for 3.5 seconds. Seems like taking nearly the full time to let the sight settle really helped, so getting a feel for what the par time feels like is helpful. I’m a musician and I wonder if non-musicians feel time the same way or differently than non-musicians and non-dancers.

    Honestly though I’m comfortable drawing with either hand and gripping with either hand. Faster draw with left hand drastically but a wee bit more accurate right handed. Being left handed is a struggle 😂

  • @epickett63

    John Correia was at a disadvantage. When he shot, the other guy just hit the timer at random. When Correia ran the timer, he usually said "Stand by" or "Shooter ready?" I think that made it a bit easier for his partner... I need to try this drill! But I'll have to go from low ready. 😞

    how would you adjust the time from a low ready? the ranges I go to don't allow drawing from the holster

    • @ASPextra
      @ASPextra  4 роки тому +3

      I would subtract 1 second. So from the ready, 2.5 seconds.

    The reality is that you BOTH still got EVERY shot into the torso. Are you going to take the target out the fight in one shot? Maybe not, but FIBS Factor is definitely engaged. You say it all the time...the first one to get a good shot is likely going to win the fight. My only real issue with this drill is that you are standing there, ready. If you are giving yourself 3.5 seconds, I want to see you holding something you need to drop and talking to the other guy while he randomly starts the clock when you are thinking about something else. Nice drill, though. I think I'm going to add it to my practice.

      Your ideas are fine however this drill is for developing the skill and response for a specific type of problem. There's lots of different ways these can be done for developing different aspects of the fight.

    I've never touched a gun in my life so you don't need any advice from me, but doesn't the counting throw you off? Cause then you just try to get near the 3.5 second mark rather than shoot when you have the perfect aim
