I'm no mechanic but the engine looks to be ok considering the treatment it received in the hands of the police, either flooring it or idling for long periods of time
You are not wrong. The car did 40,000kms in its first year as a Highway Patrol car and guaranteed it was flogged hard. There was nothing wrong with the engine other than some oil seepage. The LS1 is a great engine.

The NSW police averaged 10000kms per 3 months good thing is it was usually on the highway@@GrouseGarage
Ring wash. Using oil like a good LS should. 😁
