I share Rick's feelings about finding kindred-souls. For those of us who have realised the 'divine-spark' within, we come across like-minded people in our daily lives and feel compelled to share 'it' with them. And that's where the problems and conflictions lie. When you're respected in your line of work, it's potentially very risky to expose spiritual-stuff to others. It's interesting to hear Rick's views in sharing spiritual-stuff with Jon and Trevor Rabin. Undoubtedly they were both already finding their own ways up the same mountain. They were all mountaineers heading up the same mountain by different routes, as we all are. When I became a freemason I viewed it as a stepping-stone to other levels of understanding, and those levels definitely exist. Freemasonry is very grounded and requires a deep-commitment; I don't doubt that it's been exploited at times, but the majority of committed freemasons are decent people who share a similar vision.

Freemasonry is about cultivating virtue in yourself. Thats the goal of the order. You are to build yourself into the best man you can be to have the best effect on the world.

This is a superb interview, both the first and second parts. What a wonderful ambassador Rick seems to be for the craft, and so passionate too.

I found this to be very revealing about the man himself. I have to admit I had not heard of Rick Wakeman (I live in California and am not a rock music fan) but I did enjoy learning about the man. As a Mason I agree with all the sentiments expressed, and wish Rick well.

Yes he was a brillaint man. The magic flute is all about how often people dont recognise the virtue of masonry from outside.

This was a really good interview. Both parts. I liked what he had to say about religion in this part.
One day, when I'm mature enough, I might seek to apply myself.

Thanks Rick, for doing the vid.
lol @ secret society. Perhaps one might say that the true secrets lie within ourselves and self improvement for the benefit of the world around us, and I say that as a currently profane man who has simply keenly observed the nature of the craft from people like Rick who speak about it.
Interviews such as these are wonderful for making things clearer to a public that is all too suspicious of things they do not understand. Good job.

Matthew 5:19 "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Rick says that all religions are a path to the SAME God. Well, why did Jesus have to go to the cross then? He prayed in the garden before His arrest and asked God, “Let this cup can pass from my hands, but not My will, Lord, but your will be done.” If God had other “ways”, then there wasn’t a reason for the cross.

Rick, I admire your talents since early 70's. I was happy to learn you were a Christian. My question now is, do you think you've replaced your faith and belief in Jesus as the Christ, the Truth, the Way to our Father, with freemasons pyramid. Which until you reach the top, you are unaware who is there. You spoke a couple minutes on Christianity, and most of the interview on the wonders of freemason. Is that not how the adversary works? I agree, the group sounds tempting, and helpful, and has connections and opportunities you would not otherwise have. But like any other idol, it becomes your God. This is not judgemental, I respect you too much. Just food for thought, coming from a Christian viewpoint. The problem is not many religions being friends, it is the change in focus and leadership in your life. It's your choice. Thk you.

+Josie Smith Josie, obviously I'm not Rick, but I as a lapsed freemason I'd like to pick up on some of your comments. Freemasonry is non-denominational... so there's no exclusion of Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus or Muslims... the only requirement would be a belief in what most of us would frame as 'God', but freemasonry terms as 'The Great Architect of The Universe'. That first hurdle will conflict with most faiths and religions in some way, because most of unquestioningly accept our beliefs as truths, i.e. everyone else's are wrong. Assuming that we can overcome that and see similarities as opposed to differences, we can use that crutch to lead us to a new stepping-stone. In our lives crutches easily become our idols/support and we get stuck with them... we just need to recognise this. Freemasonry helped me for a period, then it became another crutch... then I rejected it, and I now have a new one. That's our path.

There is no secret revelation at the top of hidden agenda. Please ignore these silly scare tactics. Masonic rituals have been well known historically since the early 17th century.

@@LewisMasonicpublishing the owners of the world use the secret hidden web of freemasonry to control and enslave people, that is pure evil.

  • @RobertFreemantle
    @RobertFreemantle 11 років тому

However, you can also purchase ritual books from the shops. That is why they say the real experience is the firsthand one inside a Lodge.
RE: The many issues of distrust you hold, you will find that most of what is performed in Freemasonry is an allusion to something else, symbolism and allegory. Think of it further as a dramatic piece of theatre, but one that has an effect on one's place within himself and his world.

why is the threat of death given to those who reveal the craft's secrets
if it is not a secret society ?
At the time masonry evolved punishment by death was common among all guilds and public hangings were common.
Did you know that in the modern day masons don't include the traditional penalties?

It was the same for the Jews. They were accused of all sorts of nasty things in the past. I think its a bit better now. They of course have religious ceremonies that are secret. People used to make up as sorts of things about what they did.

Thanks for that, I enjoyed that. He did make Masonry sound like something I could learn a lot from. I wouldn't say that I believe in a God though, at least not any type of personal God or God described in any scripture. That rules me out altogether right?

You do know you are talking on the youtube channel of the official publisher of all the degrees of masonry? Yes the degrees in some orders build on each other. You dont want the ending of a story told as the start do you or there is no emotional impact.

"I am the way, the truth and the light- no one comes to the Father except through me" (Jesus). Yes, all are welcome to the Christian faith but the requirement is accepting Jesus as savior and accepting the Christian God as the only god-no others are allowed. Jesus is not the entry point for any other religion and therefore this God is not the same as the ones from other religions. Only one faith can be the true faith. Choose wisely. This is in response to Rick's thoughts on this issue.

Look into Freemasonry In The Community, where public exhibits are set up to let people come ask questions and enquire.
I didn't say the symbolism and ritual is public knowledge. Please don't misquote me. I implied instead that this video gives you a clearer understanding of the point of Freemasonry.
Albert Pike's writings do not have bearing. Firstly, they were part of the Scottish Rite teachings, not the rest of the craft. Nor does any one man speak for Freemasonry.

  • @RobertFreemantle

I think you suffer from a misperception about degrees. There are only 3 actual degrees in the craft. Everything else isn't above, it's outwards. Appendant bodies, not something you need or have to do. They are all inspired by and offshoots of the main 3 degrees. If a man who is third degree master mason is 33rd degree in Scottish Rite, he is no further above a man who is third degree in Freemasonry. Even men who join as initiates are counted as equals in a Lodge, allowed to vote on matters etc.

Freemasonry is about cultivating virtue and moral advancement. Something Jesus was very positive about. Jesus was also very positive about love and compassion. I think emotions are good sources of information but poor master. You do know many Masons are Christian?

Are you telling us that Yeshua is suddenly becoming a paragon of virtue when you join a lodge?
Or that some scriptures (from any religious sacred books) are nullified by joining a fraternity?
I'm not talking about ultra-orthodoxy here. This is cultish viewing.
I'm talking about anyone who follows the dogmas of one book and may find that some "virtues" are pretty different from one to another. If not sometimes opposed.
Not sure that a brother who believes in the Fallen Angel will get along well with one who follows the ways of Abu Bakr.
      Just sincerely curious...
