To give you a sense of how long ago this game was, there was significant debate after this game whether Michigan should get a spot in the BCS championship game over SEC Champs Florida
This was another timely upload for us to enjoy. Now that Jim Harbaugh has beaten the buckeyes back to back years, this remains one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports
@@elbowgang9715 Alabama and Auburn made 5 straight national championships and at least 2 appearances by Auburn and 2017 almost had auburn in playoff and 2019 knocked bama out of the national title race
Michigan had hope going into next year and their first game on that schedule was a certain school called Appalachian State. Wonder what was the final result of that game.
@@aidanmiranda6140 I think they are a serious contender to go all the way when the college playoffs start. Would be great for Harbaugh as he did not get his Super Bowl. Something like this would make up for it. I like there chances after what I seen today.
This was a game of blown opportunities by Michigan. They had a chance to tie it at 28 after getting in a hole early and settled for a FG instead. Later on they have a chance to take the lead down 4 and were forced to punt. In games like this you simply can't blow chances like that and that came to define this rivalry for years, especially under Harbaugh up until recently. Something clicked over the past 2 seasons for Michigan. They stopped blowing those chances to win the game and they may have finally turned the rivalry back in their favor.
Unbelievable game. Great memories from this day. I was a south Florida transplant from Boston who was invited to an Ohio State bar to watch this game. They are serious about their buckeyes and this rivalry. It was absolute pandemonium once OSU pulled it off🎉🎉🎉🎉
Iron bowl is still better slightly as far as fan intensity plus combination of championships latley but not many Ohio st fans gonna be able to watch this after todays loss!
Some of these guys didn't do squat in the NFL. Troy Smith was a bust Ted Ginn was a bust and Chris Wells also. Mario Manningham had a decent career and Chad Henne is still in the NFL collecting a easy check being the backup to mahomes. Lamar Woodley had the best career out of all of them.
The amount of players in this game who went on to the NFL and became good and even great players, is just unreal 🔥
Michigan has now won 2 straight vs Ohio State, have they really broken the curse now?
gotta win like 6 straight more or something
YES SIR THEY HAVE
YES WE HAVE BOII GO MF BLUE〽️❗️❗️❗️
The number of future pros in this game was obscene.

When I saw that it was 2006 I realized how long ago it was
Another important note to your point: Rutgers was #6 in the country as of this game.
@@thenumberquelve158 Ray Rice was on that squad if I'm not mistaken
I remember they were saying that, then the S.E.C. became the S.E.C. we all know and love today.

Last year winning that game made them play alot looser this year and saved JJ McCarthys best game for the big game !
Iron bowl still better but today the big game was elite
@@packersauburneric3625 No it’s not.
@Packers auburn Eric ! lol believe that lie if you want. Only thing in college sports remotely close is Duke-UNC

College football has changed over the years, but one thing has remained the same. THE GAME
Game is over. Michigan laid a beating on Ohio State 45-23. But it was close for 3 quarters.

Team never recovered for years after that either
That game was Michigan's 911. They didnt recover from that loss until last year
I was only like 7 but my uncle still talks about tht shit😭😭

That was a great run. In fact it broke the game wide open.

2022 Final Score: Michigan: 45 | Ohio St: 23
Good for you, you're what, 4 for the century now?
Did you see those rankings lol, 8-1 team over a 11-1 . Oh the good days

What's really shocking is seeing the Rutgers at 9-0
As an osu fan, i dont wanna talk about today’s game.

To think Harbaugh was once considered Michigan’s Cooper
@@chrisuncleahmad ya day won his first it's not like it was like harbaughs or guys like former QB John Navarre and guys like that

GO BLUEE 🏈
What kind of Carr does Jim Tressell like to drive? A Lloyd
The craziest part is Henne is still playing in the NFL
We got killed
Right before 41-14 against Florida.
Last game for natural grass at Ohio Stadium
5:28 is an example of the problems OSU had with their grass that year. Still I miss the end zone and block O color scheme from then.
The Big Ten network occasionally airs a condensed 1 hour version of this game in full 16x9 HD, satellite feed.
Should have asked for their recording.
Watched this game live Troy Smith was my guy 🔥🔥🔥sucks they couldn't win the chip that year
Great Saturday Game.. This one of those you dont forget
Straight classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This Is Why I Love This Channel
With cfb playoff expanding in a couple years, we could see these 2 teams square off in the playoffs. Or even better, the national title game.

Ted Ginn was not a bust. Sure he didn’t live up to being drafted in the top ten, but he impacted every team he was on
Leon Hall and Davis Harris had solid careers
Worst late hit call that cost Michigan the game!!! They would've won the national championship
How can it be a bad call? Late hit out of bounds, led with the helmet.
Close one
This was the real BCS championship
*I COME FROM THE FUTURE AND MICHIGAN JUST HUMILIATED OHIO ST IN THAT VERY STADIUM.*
I too come from the future and TCUN will be in a huge cheating scandal and Harbaugh will not coach in the 2023 game.

Get your ass ready, the next saturday you're going to be in a lot of pain in Ann Arbor. 🤣
A lot of respect in this game. Game was 🔥
Ted Ginn's move after the catch at 12:17 is one of the toughest i've ever seen.
I was 11 I'll never forget raking my neighbors leaves that morning and doing a half ass job so I could watch the game. Go blue
Who won this year?
Michigan!
Oh yeah. I remember this game.
