  • If your blades are jammed stuck in place you possibly have a clogged clipper. Clean out the hair and check the pressure on the screws that hold the blade in place. I got this clipper on sale for $10 over 20 years ago. The saving is about $15 a haircut times at least 4 hair cuts a year making a saving of $60 a year cutting my own hair. Times by 20+ years and that's over $1200 savings off my $10 investment, but my clipper blades quit moving. I bought a new one and thought before I give up on the old one I should take it apart and clean it out. I got it to start working again and then returned the new clippers after I shaved my hair high and tight. I have given myself my own haircuts since the beginning. I use a small hand mirror and the large bathroom mirror. I either run a 1 or nothing across the sides and cut the top by using my fingers. I squeeze the hair up and anything that come above my fingers I cut. I then blend the edges using whatever size trimmer I used for the tight. It takes me all of 20-30 minutes. I figure it is less time then sitting in the waiting room and for sure less time when I include driving there the wait and the drive back. I have gotten pretty good at this and even cut my own hair for my own wedding! I have even spelled thing out in my hair, for team spirit. It's amazing what you can do with two mirrors and a clipper. Next time you need a hair cut give it a try. If you're really horrible the worst that can happen is you shave it all down and it grows back and that one hair cut you gave yourself typically pays for the clipper.

It always feel good to know you've done something on your own. Too many people just throw everything away and buy new and have no idea how anything works. Worst case scenario you break it and it's junk, but the plan was originally to throw it away and get a new one, so never a loss in taking something broken apart if the plan was to ditch it anyway. Glad you gave it ago and it worked for you....

Pound and a bear hug. Just trashed Wahl in a review. Used a handful of times, this happened. Sent in for repair, used once, and this happened again. Decide to use the internet, and found your video. Literally two seconds to loosen blade screws. No cleaning, and voila. They work. I hope everything in your life is going smoothly and as planned. Have a great year my brother!

I had a similar problem. I had to unscrew the blade and clean the hair. Due to the fact that I did not use oil too often, dirt accumulated between the blade and the movable base. I had to clean the blade thoroughly from the inside and pour oil over it. Now everything works.

there is usually a screw on the side too that you can adjust by turning to adjust the speed of the blades. my manual said turn the screw until it makes a loud noise and then turn it back about one and a half turns. oh and dont forget to oil the blades around every three haircuts too. hope this helps.

My Vahl trimmer/clippers have a large black plastic screw on the side. Loosen it up and turn the thing on.

I don't see any frays in the wire etc. - but now in plugging it in and turning it on, nothing happens like it's dead (no vibrating sound etc.).
I've just been using it for my dog, and they are long 3 hours sessions, but still I don't think I burnt it out but maybe?

Yes oil helps, but a good cleaning does too. My new Wahl is having issues and I think I need to clean it out and give it a tune-up. Just adding the oil is not cutting it anymore, and I figured this out half way though a haircut(on my own head). It was bad and I was in a panick, but was able to tinker my way through a haircut, which is a bit scary when your hair is all different length and different size strands hanging out everywhere. Glad the oil helped cause that's the easiest.

all this stuff is nonsense about the screws--the blades simply need to be oiled and they start vibrating again. Have done it maybe times with my unit where oiling it gets it goin. Bot an additional bottle of WAHL oil--because the small little bottle that comes with it is WAYYY too low. It's nonsense level low. It runs out after a handful of haircuts.

Could be your cord not getting power there either. I know I had some cord issues. I would start there.

I'm Confused??? You took it apart and it won't go back together or you can't take it apart? If it is apart make sure the blades are the right way. Not sure where your issue is. make a vid and post it and someone will let you know how to fix it. Best of luck....

Dang!!!!!! Actually it was the cheapest pair I had bought, but I actually preferred that one to the other ones I have purchased since and amazingly it ran considerably better with less issues than my Wahl. So cheap isn't always worse.... I ended up having cord issues and got rid of the conair, but while I had the conair and the Wahl I still found myself going back to the conair until I had to put it in the recycling bin!
