Excuse me which is the top blade and which is the bottom blade. Is the bottom blade the one that makes contact with the client and the top blade the one facing you?
Seems easy. So if all you need to do is zero gap the blade, you would just have to loosen the two main screws and adjust the position, and you don't need to take it all apart, correct (like, say, on a brand new clipper)? Also, since you said to still have the top blade extend *slightly* further than the bottom blade, "zero gap" would really be "tiny gap", where "tiny" is something like 1/4 mm?
On the whal home cut pro. You can push it all the way. All you do is loosen the two screws push the blade back all the way and tighten while holding or pressing against countertop. Then take your fingernail and make sure you feel the bottom blade before the top(the one that moves). When cutting hair don’t press too hard or it can scratch. I just did this for the first time and the results were unbelievable. The clippers cut like a razor now.

Hello, it is not recommended to zero-gap a clipper especially if it has been in use for a long time cause the upper blade will draw a line (groove) in the lower one and whatever you try to be precise and align them back to the previous position you will never succeed so you will loose the sharpness of the blades and you might be forced to through both of them and get new sharp ones. @Sheriff. 0 gapping is for fading, it helps with removing leaving fades lines for better blends. For beard, I would use a trim liner, they give a crispier lines and easier to handle.
I have a Wahl Pro. If I loosen the screw on the gap lever it allows for moving the blades to exactly where I want them. Is that the same as unscrewing the 2 screws holding the blades together? It seemed like the easiest way. Although I still have to disassemble it to clean and oil. But will the blades remain zero that way?
Scardrewpro, zero gapping helps you cut shorter, so it’s good for a balding haircut, though you’ll need something other than just clippers to entirely bald it out. It also helps with precision
It appears that most excellent clippers can cut hair to 0.8 mm but if you have a good shaver than it should be able to cut the hair from 0.8 mm to 0 mm safely.
So for super low, balding haircut to get the look you need clippers and trimmers together? You can’t just use trimmers, like T Outliners by themselves, if your hair is already short and you want it super close? Thanks

Viktor H, I’ve never tried the Icon. You can certainly zero gap Wahl clippers, but if you want to shave your face, you will not get a clean shave as you would with a blade. Zero with clippers is not as sharp as trimmers or blades

Doubt it! This is because the same power would be outputted to the motor. The motor is the main thing that generates the heat. The best type of quality motor arguably is the Rotary motor. besides the quality of the hair clipper, obviously.
Nope, the trimmer will still get the same input voltage no matter how much you upgrade the power cord, the cord included with it is designed to be thick enough of wire to carry the power. Unless your cord is getting hot to the touch or has serious damage such as exposed copper wire, there is no reason to replace it. You also risk voiding the warranty. Only thing I can think of is make sure the blades are oiled and that the machine is not clogged with hair and debris, if you're mechanically minded lightly adding oil the to motor bearings may help it, but I doubt this is the issue. (This is advice for everyone)
Hopefully, one of Wahl's PDF document may be able to help. It appears also that the first teeth of the upper and lower blades should be aligned correctly. Your video was good. But after cleaning the blades and the inside, I would have thought that so oil on the blades would have been ideal. Eventually you have to oil the clipper, when you dismount it...do you agree that applying oil is a good idea..?
A ripper washer would be best to put under the screw the gets less tension bc then you can still tighten it and keep a straight blade without the worry of when your actually cutting hair say doing a line, the rattle or vibration will loosen the screw and move the blade and possibly cause a cut or uneven hair lines
Rap Philosophy most likely but he was doing it as an example. Or for instance sometimes when clippers come pre zero gapped they tend to leave a gap of like 0.25mm as a safety precaution and sometimes you want it a little tighter like 0.15mm. Might not sound like a huge difference but it does make a massive difference in results.
Rap Philosophy cool no worries I’m no barber either myself I just like to learn this stuff. But so long as the moving blade and stationery blade don’t overlap you won’t be cutting people that’s the main thing :)

I did this but It make a weird noise when I start it idk what to do....
Victor Ocampo oil them
That happened to me too. The blades were slightly crooked.
Yes, could be any of those things: tighten, oil, and straighten
Hopefully, one of Wahl's PDF document may be able to help.
It appears also that the first teeth of the upper and lower blades should be aligned correctly.
My notes below may help:
F: Zero-Gap Any Clippers in 4 mins - Tip #15 -
Barber - Best so far!!!

1. Excellent, superb video, but didn't properly
explain which;
A. blade was on the bottom
(the one with the screws in it), and
B. that the forward (facing the front of the
clipper) lever's position closes the teeth.
C. Oil the clipper before and after use.
2. Should probably holding the clipper upside
down Whilst removing the loose hairs
A. Instead of brushing some of the loose
hairs inside the clipper.

way - NB! Oiling Section is good

Your video was good.
But after cleaning the blades and the inside, I would have thought that so oil on the blades would have been ideal.
Eventually you have to oil the clipper, when you dismount it...do you agree that applying oil is a good idea..?
rich Mck, absolutely right. You should regularly oil your clippers. I just didn’t show it in this video
A ripper washer would be best to put under the screw the gets less tension bc then you can still tighten it and keep a straight blade without the worry of when your actually cutting hair say doing a line, the rattle or vibration will loosen the screw and move the blade and possibly cause a cut or uneven hair lines
Set to -1 for extra close shave
hey there, I've got a wahl color pro cordless and I was wondering if I could safely try this too? maybe not necessarily 0 but lower than 0.8. Thanks
boulala21 yes you can I have the same clipper as you. You can 0 gap them
@@NighmareRS oh sweet, do you know if I need different screws? as that's what I read somewhere else. Cheers
Sorry dumb question. Wasn't it already 0 gapped with the clippers closed in the beginning of the video?
Rap Philosophy most likely but he was doing it as an example. Or for instance sometimes when clippers come pre zero gapped they tend to leave a gap of like 0.25mm as a safety precaution and sometimes you want it a little tighter like 0.15mm. Might not sound like a huge difference but it does make a massive difference in results.
@@SoulCaliburDeathCrie ah ok. Got it. I'm new to it. That makes sense though
Rap Philosophy cool no worries I’m no barber either myself I just like to learn this stuff. But so long as the moving blade and stationery blade don’t overlap you won’t be cutting people that’s the main thing :)
Every time I tried to zero gap my speedmastwers when I screwed on the front blade the second one just fell out what do I do
how to use shears or scissors to trim long hair?
deemahdee, I hope to have a video out on that soon
What're the purposes of zero blading?
You can cut closer to the skin
It's good if you wanna do a shape up/line up
@@seks94 thank you.
Thank you
My pleasure
So...How do you unzero gap it
Well done
Thanks. Btw do I hear a Canadian accent of sorts? I also feel some kind of Egyptian undertone somewhere (have an Egyptian friend). I wonder if I'm completely off with my guess 🤔😁
Perfect man
