I still occasionally listen to my old cassettes which I now have to listen to on my equally old "boom box". I will never give them up. Lol

Speaking of gaming on CRT TV sets, you had to use channel 3 and some gaming systems had a "gun" that interacted with the TV screen. I wonder if they would even with new modern digital sets.

If it wasn't for DVDS and streaming tv, it's barely watchable today. I miss the dial phones, believe it or not. VCR's were great. But DVD recorders were better. I had pocket AM radios as a kid. Used a mechanical typewriter as a kid and later. Yes, I used pay phones. They had dials, then pushbuttons. A Cassette recorder was my best friend. Never had a walkman. Used floppy disks, large and small. My Uncle had a SX-70 Polaroid camera. I used 8-track tapes, still have them. I loved Jukeboxes that played records. I used to watch them work.

When the walkman faded out I just switched from mix tapes to mix CDs and then mix flash drive. So the mix didn't disappear, just the medium changed.
I also still have a 40 year old boom box at home hooked up to some huge high end speakers that still plays great. Radio and cassettes, no CD player. Never had 8 track.

The Romans brought taxation to UK where it's flourished ever since ( they also brought cabbages, cats, cows sheep, spelt wheat, roads, pubs, banks, schools, shops, doctors and many other things. The only Roman trend that didn't last was Crucifixion.

One of the most obnoxious thing about cassette tapes was the persistent "hiss" that was produced . Sony came up
with the "DOLBY SYSTEM" but it still did not totally eliminate the "hiss" of cassettes .

I don’t know how beloved a cassette is but it’s surely a relic!

@@pamelaharnage This is also true in UK sales figures going up and up alongside vinyl. Unlike CDs they don't stick. For some reason Blu Ray never really took off here as it was intended to. The discs are now sold in discount shops while the player remains quite expensive.

I was born in 1992 so I don't remember any of these things in using. I love history, so this video fascinates me. The telegram led the way to today's communication technology, and we now must get used to a world without privacy. It must have felt cool to get these technologies and use them when they came out. I have never used a fax machine, a typewriter, a Walkman or a floppy disk. Regular cameras have gone obsolete now too, as have CDs.

I recall buying my first Sony Walkman & taking it on a field trip to Candlestick Park to watch the S.F. Giants. It wasn't too long ago...😲 - Gn X '69

The 8- track could've been better..they had one flaw..the reel would unwind while in a carrying case in the car.. that's why tapes would get eatin ..if they had a way to keep from turning while not in use it wouldn't eat the tape..a lot of people blamed the player.. wasn't the player..

I still have an old VHS video player - there are a few films/documentaries which never made it onto DVD.
