SMALL River BIG FISH in southern West Virginia!

- The Spruce, a small river system here in southern WV that runs through Logan & Boone counties meeting up with Pond Fork to form the Little Coal River. Smallmouth are plentiful and occasionally you'll catch a Rock Bass. Bigger waters like Tug Fork hold much bigger Smallmouth.
Live in NJ but born in Huntington WVa. I’m ready for fishing! Great spot you’re fishing. Thanks

I have that same rod. Nice action.
I rarely get too fish for smallmouth except when I venture north from my home state of Florida. I just visited a friend in Summersville WV a few days ago and the weather was nice, so we slapped on some waders and hit the Gauley river. We were using 4 1/4 inch Nikko hellgrammites and black/blue bitsy bugs. Had a very good day of fishing but nothing trophy size.
Nikko hellgrammites are one of my favorites. Thanks for dropping a comment. Yeah, there are some really good smallmouth fishing up here.
