Kyle sweet looking exhaust on there!! To stop the exhaust melting on the plastic panel mount a 3 1/2" tube into holes and the exhaust won't catch the panel under load. Also are you going to fit some flex pipes to the exhaust. Defo advised to do this because when the exhaust cools and heats the expansion and contraction will do some serious damage to either your exhaust or turbos👍
This is really cool. I had an 86 NA and we put on a custom TRD header and found a Yoshi GSX-R straight pipe at a junk yard and put it on there. Wish I still had it. All custom fab just like what you are doing but it was soooo worth it. It was balls out fun and the sounds was ludicrous. Just one BIG exhaust coming out of the middle of the trunk. This certainly reminded me of that. Awesome build.

I was thinking the same shart the whole time.. how close those twin turbos are that entire x pipe gonna be glowing.. was thinking also that exhaust is awful close to the intercooler.. its gonna make it an interhotter.. but i see that mr2 logo sagging and grill warping the first tune... but he does need to put a heat shield inbetween that stainless exo and aluminum rad.. for sure.. and if he is mounting fans on the fugger on the top than he for sure gonna have issues

@@andrewbartleman9169 Pretty sure the engine is solid mounted, no rubber engine mounts. Though I really don't remember. If the mounts aren't solid, then they are high strength poly. The engine moving around under load should be at an absolute minimum thanks to that. So I wouldn't be worried about that with a 1/4 inch of clearance all the way around the pipes. Thing I was thinking about was whether that plastic is going to melt just from the pipes getting hot. He may wrap the ends though, thats what I would do (also would've done solid mounts, which Im pretty sure Kyle did)

Wideband sensors should be atleast 24 inches from exhaust ports/ turbo outlet but before and x or h pipes and placed between 9 and 3, ideally at 12. It's a bit tricky with the mr2 because of how close the x pipe is to the turbos but I don't see it causing any issues. Maybe just false readings at idle or partial throttle which won't matter. Any good tuner can work around that with basic formulas.
Cannot get enough of the MR2 content, by far the sickest build you’ve done. I got a special place in my heart for the hatch but this MR2 is the future kid. Bust some ass, let’s see some hustle on this thing in the next week! What’s the plan for wheels?
You need to have air feeds to the turbos coming out the top of the "hood" like most of the other cars exhausts, but with a 90* bend to catch the air and force into the turbo at speed
I would keep the pipes flush where they are for street use but weld on v band flanges that you could attach short 45's to pointed outward when running the shoot. That thing is sick!
looking at the setup you are doing, it reminds me of street outlaws, where they do fender exit and 45degrees the exhaust pipe to keep the fronts down by the exhaust pressure. i wonder if you make the exits 45 upwards and it will help on the downforce to keep the rear wheel pushed further down to the ground, more rear grips along the track
When you go to extended the exhaust to direct it away from the parachute you should angle it out like you planned but also slightly up to benefit from some exhaust pressure escaping as some down force on the rear tires for some additional traction. Just a thought to help in the long run.

Hey, when you finally fire it up, to get a sick color and have consistency, when it gets hot the first couple times, hit it with a rag soaked in WD40. It’ll make it a cool golden color. In fact, that’s a James trick he used on Ruby and Leroy.
If you cut strips and soak some in wd and some in engine oil and some in mineral/ baby oil and wrap consecutively you get an easy rainbowy effect like titanium..
Those look fine as hell, i would recommend wrapping the ends by the tips, those tips will 100%melt that plastic trim, i had my down pipe 3 inchs past my bumper and she melted the bumper cover and rubber hangers...
Staking dimes is usually an aluminum term. But either way both look pretty damn good for just starting out. I still think he should shave the welds and polish the charge pipes. Would look so much cleaner

You might consider something to control the expansion after the turbos and before the x pipe, like the stainless flex couplers so it won't crack when it expands
griplimit yea.... I "think" so adding a flexpipe changes the fact that the exaust is gunna heat up? Causeing heat expansion cracks? Id say the guys that build racecars for a living might just know what there doing tbh
On the exhaust exits out of the car once you get the chute on and mounted you could always do a v-band clamp in the truck space and get 2 more short 45 degree pipes to put outside of the car to deflect the fire/exhaust from the chute

All he has to do Is have it ceramic coated or wrap it with exhaust wrap and he'll be just fine

Heat wrap your exhaust so you won't melt your bumper. And will also help reduce heat radiation on the intercooler.

there's a low pressure zone behind the cab, so that's a bad placement for the intake. Either cold air intakes from the side or a roofscoop are needed.

make sure to weld the wideband on the bottom of the x-pipe so it still looks good
No because then condensation can drip onto the sensor and it will kill it
Generally recommended to install WB's on the upper half of the pipe to avoid moisture.

The exhaust on a normal front wheel drive car is normally only a inch away from the radiator or the front mount so it will fine.

You might consider something to control the expansion after the turbos and before the x pipe, like the stainless flex couplers so it won't crack when it expands

On the exhaust exits out of the car once you get the chute on and mounted you could always do a v-band clamp in the truck space and get 2 more short 45 degree pipes to put outside of the car to deflect the fire/exhaust from the chute
