I don’t know if you will see this but the time around this came out i was only 5 or 6 years old, i was so attached to this song and this animation… It amazes me this was 8 years ago now, time really does fly. I used to watch this on my ps3 and i would be amazed,, i would play this over and over again.. I will forever have passion and love for this animation as it is the earliest memory of my childhood i can remember, thank you for posting this it made my life absolutely amazing i always wanted to be like luna i was so clueless back then..
I don't know how I never noticed this but like there's the homeless child, and the orphanage children, and a bunch of generally scrappy looking ones but the animator also included a child from a seemingly perfect home from what little we see. I actually appreciate that because it's not always obvious that a child is abused, neglected, or abandoned. Sometimes that have everything but love and that's still trauma, that's still harm. I love how much thought was out into this

I think for me it was a more relatable character. I recently learned I am autistic + adhd so I can’t turn my brain off but I just really want that quiet sooo badly. Often the quiet was found in the night while all the noise was asleep. So I think that just kind of yoinked me to Luna as a kid. I also didn’t keep any relationships when I started homeschooling so I was kinda alone for like 3-4ish years with the only other people being my brother and parents. And no offense cause I love them and all but-- noisy. Anything can be taken as an insult on either side because none of us can read the room, or they won’t stop talking!!!! Love/hate college. Love it for the peace of a single room, hate it for not having my cats with me.
Luna is a character I’ll never forget… If it weren’t for her and the mlp fan base, I think I’d have given up… But she reminds me of the happy times I’ve had watching the show when I was a kid and that, no matter what life throws at me, I do deserve be happy, and I’ll always be grateful for that… “For we will forever be her children of the night…” 💙

I saw this back when I was around 11 or 12 and now at 19 I'm still trying to decide if Luna was taking the children to a sort of paradise away from their horrible lives, or if it's some kind of metaphor for sleeping and finding joy in dreams when your daily life is difficult.

I also doubt though that she killed them in the animation - so the animation most likely doesn't share the same meaning as the song originally did.
What's really sad is in the orphanage, only three ponies get up and can hear the music, that means only they were being abused there, and no one else, as Luna's song can only be heard by those suffering

When I was 9 or 10 this video changed my entire world view and I was no longer scared of the night or dark because I’d think princess Luna was watching over me and that I was also a child of the night. I'm glad we all thought of coming back to listen to this, although I remember in the original you could never see the comments and my young self was never actually able to deduct why these children are being taken away, not that I read the comments I finally understand... Me too... I used to play this song everyday with my cousins and play dress up as the princesses here all the time. The good old days. We stopped that tradition when my cousins started to "grow up" and find it cringe to do so. I miss that time.

Celestia endured the guilt of banishing her sibling and the loneliness that comes with being long lived - all so that her subjects who counted on her to do right by them could continue with the quality of life they enjoyed. I'm glad we all thought of coming back to listen to this, although I remember in the original you could never see the comments and my young self was never actually able to deduct why these children are being taken away, not that I read the comments I finally understand... This makes the video even more emotional.
Me too... I used to play this song everyday with my cousins and play dress up as the princesses here all the time. The good old days. We stopped that tradition when my cousins started to "grow up" and find it cringe to do so. I miss that time.
After all these years it still goes hard for no reason, I get the chills every time.
I used to watch this a lot.. it made me feel safe and comforted.. i grew up loving mlp and luna in particular and even when i would get sick and go to the hospital to get needles i would watch this as a thing to distract me :) some people may think this sounds stupid but this is very special to me

I know this is a bit random, but does anyone think Celestia is really underrated? Like, everyone’s fave character seems to be Luna, but celestia has been through so much and still has been a great ruler; and I think she’s really pretty too.

Celestia endured the guilt of banishing her sibling and the loneliness that comes with being long lived - all so that her subjects who counted on her to do right by them could continue with the quality of life they enjoyed. Celestia is pony Aslan.
