Snowdrop is the heartwarming fan-made short film about a young, blind pegasus who makes a discovery in winter that changes life in Equestria forever. We hope you enjoy our focus on writing and visual aesthetic in our first extended, collaborative animation.
We started this project back in September, premiering a trailer at Canterlot Garden in October, and are pleased to finally show it to the world!
A few common questions for those who failed to pay attention to the short:
-Yes, she is blind, this is clearly stated 3 times in the animation
-This took place 1000+ years ago, so naturally she would have passed on, fastforwarding to modern Equestria

SFS Animation posted this in 2013 and it's now 2017 I watched this when a was merely 5 and now I'm ten and I almost cried just how much your prospective can change when you understand more about life the world even I hope that this will always be known by all the mlp fans young and old even when this fandom slowly becomes lost these types of animations really bring the fans true colors out how brilliant they are the story telling character development the detail they put into these animations even if it may never be seen this is why I love this fandom

I like how Snowdrop is the only one who understands Luna because she's blind. To Snowdrop, day and night has no difference as all she can see is darkness. However, because of her blindness, her other senses (hearing) will be heightened, therefore she can hear the stars twinkling in the night. She's the only one who can truly appreciate Luna's night.

Your right, but this is just a Masterpiece i got tears after rewatching it again, when i was younger i did not understood anything, but now i realised that,that snowdrop was blind and jad mich struggles. She will be in our hearts forever❤️

It really is, atleast we should be happy and thankful that we had a great childhood, because the kids nowdays wont watch MLP because they think its only for Babies, I am 13 years old and will turn 14 years old on 14th April, and i still watch MLP I really don't care what everyone thinks about me. I think that Snowdrop's star resonated with Luna because a lot of ponies just slept through the night she made every night. Snowdrop felt that ponies didn't appreciate winter enough, just like Luna felt they didn't appreciate her night enough.

Me in a nutshell
My headcanon is that Snowdrop can only really "see" in her dreams. Despite being blind, she can still imagine, and dream up what she thinks the world looks like (to her). Luna, being able to travel through dreams, was a close friend to her because Luna would be the only one she could truly "see" in her dreams. I like to imagine Luna took the time to visit her. And when Luna was sent to the moon for 1000 years, Snowdrop did not see her in her dreams anymore, and died later on without her friend. Once Luna was released and defeated Nightmare Moon, she realized she did not say goodbye to her friend. Her friend was long gone.
Sad to think about, but it would make sense canon-wise.

I never realised that Snowdrop was a blind foal and when I observed her body language and how she behaved, I can now obviously see her struggles and how she uses her senses.

Im not blind (or disabled), but I can relate with Snowdrop through creativity, loving winter and also being lonely in middle school. This animation means a lot to me and it’s nice to look back at it. I’m almost 20 and cry every time seeing this… I still always appreciate MLP FIM for what came out of the show and fandom itself.

I remember listening to the voice over of a fanfic of that actually. It was Snowdrop seeing Luna in her Nightmare Moon state. After Luna was freed, she felt guilt. And she wished to see Snowdrop again. They met in one of Luna's dreams. It was really good. I might wanna go back to it one day

I loved watching this as a child, i simply loved it. My original language isnt English, so i didnt understand much of it then. But now, its really sweet. She died, i didnt know then. There was much i didnt know. This animation is really beautiful, sweet, and sad, i began crying!

I watched this back in elementary but now? I’m graduating soon and It’s been years. I remember being completely enamored by this video, i remember how beautiful it was and how i cried at it every time i saw it. Sometimes I forget how beautiful things like this can be, but this reminded me how gorgeous the world it, even in its darkest moments

Her voice sounds like a mixture of Fluttershy’s and Pinkie pie. [In response to the replies, yes, I am aware that Pinkie pie and Fluttershy share the same VA’s! :). What I meant by the comment was that during most of her moments, she has a voice that is soft and gentle, just like Fluttershys. That’s why I think she and Fluttershy could be great friends, and relate with each other on their anxiety and nervousness during moments where they socialize. And she sounded like Pinkie pie in a few scenes where she was talking about snow/snowflakes. She has a passion for snow and it shows when she speaks about it, the clarity in her eyes and the fondness in her tone. In those moments, that’s where the similarity between her and Pinkie truly shine. This is just a personal opinion^^, so it’s totally okay if you don’t think the same! Anyways, it is surprising that without understanding anything just the animation has made me cry so much
I always remembered this story from when I was younger and only now was able to find it. And now I’ve found it… it’s given me the most profound sense of nostalgia and sadness I’ve ever felt, and I know it when I say that it’s not just the inner child long ago that’s crying to.
A few years ago, I was not really interested in this type of things at all. That was until my friend showed me this video. The first time I watched this, I didn't understand much, yet I cried my eyes out. Second time, I read more carefully the lines, and the details of the video, to understand more and still cried. I later realized Snowdrop was blind... Visuals differs how I never realized that baffles me.
I watch this every time now. I am an young adult, but I don't care about what anyone thinks. Sometimes I want to be a kid again, and this is how I return, even for a little while...

I loved this and loved Snowdrop she’s so sweet I feel bad that she did not have time to live unlike some other fillies it’s sad she is blind aswell. man this animation is so sweet. i dont know if i didnt fully pay attention as a kid or just didnt process it well but rewatching this nearly 10 years later and understanding it better it is _so_ sweet. another comment pointed out how luna didnt get to say goodbye because she was on the moon and that realization is breaking me. this story still holds up so well after so long. it's canon in my heart

I was with a blind person once and they told me they loved the morning because it was the only time of day that gave you the hearty feeling of warmth. The pollens fill our nostrils and you can feel the sunflowers moving towards the daylight.
So no, I disagree. Day itself is just as wondrous as night.

There is a big difference between night and the day. The day is filled with joy, laughter, and playful, kind attitudes. As for the night is calm, sweet, peaceful, quiet, and serene. There is a huge difference between night and day and I won't lie but I usually stay up till 4 A.M just to see the stars.

I never realized that the snowflake falling at the end was the same one that Snowdrop first presented to the Princesses. I'm glad that I got to rewatch this masterpiece so many years later.
