As a Cape Townian currently living in Joburg. It pains me to say it bt Joburg is the real SA. It shows how the promise of our country has been realized. Cape Town still has lots to do as race is still too big driver only benefiting a few.
As a white South African, I have to agree with you! I live in Pretoria and we are also pretty well integrated here, in comparison to Cape Town. It's always jarring to me to see the huge divide in Cape Town whenever I'm there on a visit. Jozi and Tshwane (Pretoria) is where it's at! ☺
Cape Town reminds me of San Fransisco, beautiful but slow. I love Johannesburg's pace and the fact that Black achievers are in full view everywhere. Cape Town, not so much. Also, you can literally go for years in Johannesburg without seeing your ex colleagues or distant friends. In Cape Town, there is nowhere to hide. Everyone finds their way to the Waterfront at some point and white people control that city. Granted, Cape Town is safer, but it doesn't have much by way of business and employment opportunities.
"white people control that city" incorrect, but it sounds like you don't like white people? Personally I find both cities are awesome, both offer fantastic quality of life. The money is in JHB and lifestyle is in Cape Town. I've always worked in JHB and holidayed in Cape Town.

@Cebo88, as a white South African, I agree with you! I live in Pretoria and I have no desire to live in Cape Town. It's nice for a holiday once in a while, but that's it. The Garden Route is really where it's at if you want to enjoy the Western Cape.

Ashley, the rivalry between the Capetonians and Joburgers is worse than the rivalry between South Africa and Australia rugby. It's brutal 😄 I like the fact that in CT, everything you need is easily accessible and it is easy to navigate. I love that there are a lot of huge developments everywhere in Joburg you drive. As a Capetonian thank you Ashley for speaking so positively about Cape Town regarding business each city has its strengths in different industries and it is focused on those specific industries for example you have entered Realty and property and the commission based on ROI return on investment sales is high so you can earn a nice income on commission based property sales because of the highest cost of property on the African continent. The top 10 suburbs per square metre sales on the African continent is situated on the Atlantic seaboard in Cape Town so the commissions for real estate agents are very lucrative for each sale it never used to be like that in 1990 you couldn't fly directly into Cape Town from an international destination you had to go via ORTambo airport, then gentrification came upon us and Cape Town became more expensive than Johannesburg
