    That is astronomical. Most Tanzanians live on less than 10,000 Tsh a day. I respect that you are giving your own perspective, but this is kind of like Bill Gates telling everyone how much it costs to live in the US. I mean, over six million shillings a month? That's top 1% in Tz right there. But the quality you get is certainly more for your money than living in the US! Congrats!

    Hello Ashley, this is truly a great review! As a Tanzanian who has been living in the UK for the past four years, I agree with most of what you said. Sometimes it's very hard to wrapp my head around the fact that your household monthly expenses (necessities+luxuries) don't go above 2500$ while renting a room, as a single individual, in the UK costs me around 800£, not including other living expenses like food, transportation, shopping, and entertainment. Life in Tanzania is very cheap and I think this should give more reasons for skilled/working foreigners to live in our country if at all they aim at finding places with affordable and reasonable cost of living.

    Thanks, I slept this video, really good information. Wow, you spend a lot more than I do in Egypt. My rent is $1200 usd, gas $2, electricity $62 with AC 24/7. Cellphone $7, no water bill and internet $23 and satelite local TV is free. Food under $75 for a lot of food. Entertainment a freakin lot to do here $500. I'm banking depending on my eating out, local travel, tourism and purchasing 2/3rds income. I shop a lot. Still able to bank the majority of my income. No money needed for bribery ever. This is what people need to have those costs broken down so they don't get taken. Thank you, comparing notes. Saving for my big travel excursions, not touching my savings.

    Ur the most honest person I have ever met. I love u ASHLEY,., there are so many women from America who come to Tanzania they lose focus because they don't know what they want or what they are doing. Most of them were looking for MEN and not focusing on life experience first. They ended up losing money by staying in expensive hotels and eating all 3 meals in costly hotels while even where they come from, they couldn't afford to pay such expense.. And they end up complaining about the locals.
    I was a hotelier, so I talked about this with experience.

    Hello Ashley. Wonderful content as usual. Would you mind sharing how much you pay for cell service?

      Hi P.T.-thank you so much. Yes, I forgot to include this so I’m happy to share; I’m still paying well over $100 for my US phone number and I pay under $20 a month for data and phone calls on my Tanzanian line. Hope this helps

      @@AshleyinAfrika Thanks Ashley. You may already know this but... Google Voice is a great option for maintaining a US number globally. As long as you have access to wifi or 4G service, calls to and from the number would be the same (free) as if you were in the US. Also, you can add a few dollars once in a while to place international calls from your US number whenever you want the recipient to see a US number calling their country. International call rates are very reasonable.

    How do you find your homes in different countries in Africa? Does your Dada travel with you to the countries or do you find a new one each time?

      Hi Charisma. Thanks for your questions. There are websites in Tanzania and South Africa to help you find vacancies for rent and/or purchase and no, I have not found a Dada in South Africa yet

    Is there a time stamp for where you talk about how to find a place to stay? I’m moving in two weeks with my 14 year old sun 😊

    • @AshleyinAfrika
      @AshleyinAfrika  2 роки тому

      Hi Jameela. Karibu!! I didn’t speak on this but I do have experience for myself and helping others who are relocating here. There are important m steps in this process; connecting with a trusted Dalali (rental agent) and not rushing the process. I’m happy to support you by providing a few resources that I’d recommend. You can find time on my calendar or send me an email and I can pass along my Expert Expat Guide created to help mothers like you including resources for accessing residency, schools for your son, drivers, and even trusted rental agents who are familiar with our American preference. I’d love to talk with you soon.

      Hi Jose. I have a ton of free resources here on UA-cam.
      If you need more support head to my website where I’ve created courses to teach you how where to start, how to have the financial confidence, what to pack, and more.
      www.ashleyinafrika.com
      People tend to find the most value from a 1-on-1 call with me where you can get all of your questions answered, I can develop a strategic plan for you as well as share some of my personal contacts and resources to help you make the move with ease.
      We’d love to work with you!
