Love the fact that he threw in the "But we get better gas mileage" after seeing a muscle car fly by. Hey, got to find something these kids can feel proud of. Touche my friend... Touche...
ugh, these comments suck. Can we just focus on the fact that these two kids probably had the time of their lives getting track time in awesome cars... AND the fact that the driver/owner, being young himself, is participating in such a great event and being a great host?! Gives me hope that my generation isn't all bad
I have this car, and if you compare speed/fun to mpg this easily wins. You can hear the turbo spool and hiss and then roll down the highway at 70mph getting 38mpg. It may not be the fastest but I have fun in it.
When he asked "you guys want to go fast? you want to go fast!?" and they said yeah... I was expecting him to get out of the car and take them to another car. :P
That's what I was gonna say. My two girls are so used to power already. I do a launch in my stage 2 DSG 7.5 golf R, and they tell me it's lame. And their tummy didn't tickle as much as my old modded SRT Grand Cherokee. Lol. Their gonna laugh at most 16 year old boys in their hot hatches when their in high school.
On my car hunt I test drove one of these. I remember being so pissed the guy showed me one, but after driving it I fell in love. Iv actually chosen it over a Camaro with a v6, and a Volkswagen gti. Very fun little car with a lot of laughs to it.
For the power, fun and gas mileage, the Veloster is perfectly fine and fun. Obviously it ain't the fastest car out there but if you want a 500 hp Shelby Mustang or some other muscle car, you're probably rich because you'll be paying a shit load on gas as you only get 17 to 19 mpg which is shit.
How about an $8000 93 Lx mustang coupe pulling around 800hp on street pump? Who cares about gas mileage when you're spanking $50,000 plus shelby mustangs or when you're camming at a red light watching everyone arond you with their jaw on the ground? Gas mileage is for my wife's Mazda CX5 which is about as fast as the veloster.
Fair point about me not driving one, but just by seeing the interior you can tell that this is an econobox. It starts at $17,600. That's econobox territory, and it shows in the styling, performance figures, and interior.
Get the Fusion. Ford shares a lot of parts with Mazda which being a Japanese car manufacturer you inherit the quality construction and reliability. So you get the best of both worlds of Fords local job support and reliability. I am a Honda Manufacturer supporter driving Honda vehicles for over 17 years with vehicles over 20 years old (still have my first ever Honda a 91 Honda Prelude and 92 CRX Delsol both with original engines and transmissions and has never left me stranded). So take my recommendation as saying something from someone that is a neutral observer since I don't drive a Hyundai or a Ford.
crxdelsolsir Just to add, I was not the first owner of the 91 Prelude or 92 CRX Delsol. I'm at least a 5th hand if not 8th hand situation (acquiring the Prelude 10 years old and the CRX 13 years old) and still be making such a great impression on its reliability, economy and parts support (over 2 decades old vehicles) says alot about HONDA Quality and as a Manufacturer, their commitments to their vehicles owners.
Conclusion: Get a Veloster Turbo if you want to impress your kid brother and his friends. This car needs another 50-75HP from the factory; i.e they should have given it the 2.0T.
Wait, are you complaining that it's priced too low? So, you'd rather the thing be too expensive for it's own shoes!? Oh, and you're right about the way it drives. I certainly wouldn't pay for one, but other people would, and they aren't crazy. A well-sorted car like a Golf GTi costs 24,200. So, if you get a base model for both, you have 2,100 dollars to spend on upgrades, and upgrades there are! There is a place near where I live and they will turn one of these into an STi-munching beast for 2k.
Sorry, you're right. I gave the wrong price. The Veloster Turbo starts at $22,100. That's still in econobox territory, and every review of the car that I've seen (and I've seen many) say that the Veloster Turbo has no steering feel and a suspension that's stiff but not sporty. What Hyundai did was put a turbo on an econobox and add leather seats. The interior is nothing special, and the car doesn't live up to its sporty looks.
Go to the website, you thinking of the normal one. This is the hot, turbo version. Much more like it if you ask me. May not be your cup of tea, but ecnobox this isn't.
The guy driving the car shouldn't be able to pick up little boys so easily. But in the colonies, this is pretty common. Parents accept the fact their children could/will be molested at some point in their lives. Its such a shame. Why don't parents from the colonies adopt European morals?! It sickens me. Oh, the car, the Veloster is not a sporting car at all, it just looks as though it is one.

One of the best and most clever car advertisements I've ever seen so far on screen.
Great work done, Hyundai guys!

Ted Weiss agreed I love mine😂😂
38mpg how?
Ted Weiss 38? I think you meant 23mpg
I get 40mpg highway in mine. 14’

I want to say he will give the same emotions as golf gti.????? I just choose between golvti and veloster turbo, I do not know what to choose
Natalia Ustinova choose the veloster because German engineering is expensive to maintain, you’ll thank me later
the smiles on those kids faces r priceless
Well done dude. The kids looks so happy. Good for you. :)

Guy Forget
I care about gas mileage. Im sure that 93 is pretty slow when there's no gas in it.
Had a genesis 3.8 and got rid of it for a VT, kinda regret it but not really... these velosters are fun to drive!
Goddamn I want this thing so bad. Test drove one last month, loved the shit out of it.
@2:06 the kid is like, "i thought we were gonna go fast, idiot"

This was a good video, the kids may not know what half of the stuff he's saying but at least he's teaching them
Dude I’ve raced at homestead Miami speedway in my VT every single year
This is soooo adorable.
i can't decide between this one and 2013 fusion se
Get the Fusion.

supercooled This car would be fantastic with the 2.0T. even with the 240 they downed it to this year on the sonata, it'd still be amazing.
Learning2Smile agreed
3:59 "Fuck I wish I was in that car"
that guy is chill
