@@rickuhlick9523 trails is a series thrives on world building and story.
The games aren't really special on their own individually but as a whole series its a damn master piece. You have to play from the first trails (trail in the sky) series and just keep going. It all comes together in the long run. The games at times are concurrent with eachother in the timeline so you'll hear a lot of references from each of the games about their politics and what's going on with the other countries
Edit: there are 12 trails games at the moment and they all connect in the grand scheme of things

Yeah, ARR is brutal. I would have absolutely dropped out if I didn't have friends playing with me. Actually the really bad part is the post-ARR patch quest series, which is what really kills people. It is the longest, dullest patch series in the game, but you are rewarded with a spike in excitement and general quality the second it ends. It is almost jarring how fast HW gets better.

    • @louisking3459
      @louisking3459 Рік тому +3

ARR is what feels like the longest part. A lot of dungeons have been revamped as well. I've been playing for just over a year now, so I may be biased when I say you should get it. The savage tier raids are kinda hectic if that's what you wanna do. I'm not that good yet.

@@THB192 I don't get this. Maybe before they trimmed it down but for me it was really interesting.
They don't make you wait a lot for the new primal fights (which pretty much was what keeps people going through ARR) new interedting factions get introfuced and their struggles bring depth to the city states and allow to kick off politicql intrigue that builds up and culminates into one of the most memorable events of the game. Aymeric gets introduced, and the true main character Hoary Boulder does stuff.
Not to mention at this point the game opens up some and not only an you just do some actually worthwhile side content if you are a bit sick of the MSQ, but also flying is unlocked in all ARR zones so the most fetch-y type quests are done in a jiffy

My issue is that i was playing with friends who were just rushing to endgame (Typical WoW players) and so i was trying to keep up with them skipping cutscenes mostly. Then i got up to that point and was like "Wait a second this shit is cool. There's two dragons fighting in the sky. How is that not cool?" Sidequests even in ARR were already breaking my heart. I was in love with this game pretty fast. Faster than is common from what I hear lol.
I'm almost at Endwalker now. Im a decently slow player, been playing just over a year now I think? I do EVERY sidequest, and talk to any npc I can between every quest dialogue moment. They change almost every time btw haha. And I love it. The world feels so full. Shamani Lohmani is one of my favorites. He's the Lalafell vinter in Wineport.
These sidequests will bring you back to older sidequests in ways you never would've thought (Shamani is connected to a sidequest in the StB alliance raids, which gets you the 'Lord/Lady of the Fetch' title for example). Especially if you do them as you do MSQ and not all at once later. You revisit some after a long while. Makes me truly feel like a hero of the world, and like I earned the reputation. That everyone knows me, quite literally because I've helped almost everyone everywhere I go. It's very fun from an rp perspective 😂
I recommend the experience, though it may be hard if you're already a veteran player, as this is NOT an alt-friendly game. You'd basically be doing those 100s of hours of unlocking and questing AGAIN on top of added sidequests. But anyways, this went longer than I meant for it too. TLDR: love this game.

ARR is where you are unsure/learning your way. But then the post-ARR grabs you by the hair and throws you into Heavensward. You are better now, still fresh-faced and unsure but the story has you hooked in to see how it concludes... but by then you're too late to realize and already on your way to Stormblood. Then you get a stunning and painful tale... only to have it interrupted by you getting whisked away into Shadowbringers... Where you start getting horrified, realizing you're out of your league and far outclassed by these new foes as the whole paradigm you've fought for is flipped sideways and you begin to question if you truly are in the right...only for Endwalker to not only break your heart, but your soul... and you can only watch through salted tear-filled eyes as you see all the pieces put together in a crescendo of hopeful depression before filling one with bittersweet victorious joy as the world-ending dread is gone... until they released the post EW content and we had a mini-apocalypse to fend off that got quelled before it began... redeeming a lost soul that im 60% sure wont come back in any substantial way and we are then thrown into political intrigue in our well-earned retirement as we walk the Dawntrail. And to keep my synopsis vague and spoiler-free, i wont elaborate any further.

Even though it’s an MMO it’s worth playing, at minimum, as a single player game that forces you into groups about a dozen times or less.

This is 💯 percent true. I'm not an expert MMO gamer and trying out ff14 I was just like he said. It was ok, but the more longer you play you start to get into it. It's a great game great story and characters.
You gotta let it cook and you'll see it's greatness.

Hands down, one of the best MMOs - personally as someone who played a ton of MMOs intensely, I have to stay that if you had to average all pros and contras of an MMO to choose the best one, Final Fantasy would take up that price.
If you look at it, divided by categories then it would exceed the social aspects of an MMO and the availability, additionally casual friendliness and many more.
It lacks on other sides I dont wanna elaborate further atm but averagely I'd rate it the currently best MMO.

@@kelmirosue3251worst part is that you don't realize just how much of a slog or how bad ARR is until you look back. The masterpieces that are Heavensward, Shadowbringers, and Endwalkers make you look back at ARR and go "wow, that was AWFUL."

Nah that's world of warcraft. Where you keep playing and praying it becomes like "the good ole days" but deep down you know the truth, those days are gone and so are the people who helped build it. With FFXIV you'll eventually get caught up then leave because you don't have anything else to do and maybe never come back or just wait till next expansion drops.

100% on point for most players these days. I actually enjoyed the Realm Reborn stuff back when I started playing, before they shortened that section of content, but I know most people find it boring. That's fine though. If it's not your cup of tea then okay, but at least try to get to Heavensward before you write the game off is all I, and the majority of the ffxiv community, ask of you. This game has characters that will pull you in, you'll become invested in them until the story rips the rug out from under you and leaves you crying on the floor, feeling like you can't proceed forward, but you must continue onward my fellow Warriors of Light! You must see this story through to the current content for the story and the characters are worth the struggle and the pain. And when you finish up to current content and stand with the rest of us waiting for the day new content is released, you can look back at all you've achieved, everyone you've met, and look forward to the future will your new friends.
