@@cstrutherskgs This has been discussed on their site but Matt indicates the schooling in South Carolina was not the best for world history. A number of people confirmed that basic schooling didn't cover any sort of world history until about a semester senior year of high school.
It's also been confirmed the curriculum between states let alone counties of a state is very different in what is decided to be taught or focused on. So this so, sadly, very believable.

He was probably talking about how Columbus was looking for a new route to India.
@@nerdynecromancer I’m aware but there is still so much wrong with that
It's ok, I'll do it for you:
So, I assume he is referring to when Cristopher Columbus went sailing across the ocean.
1) He was looking for the "East Indies", which is what the people of his time called Indonesia. You know, the *islands* near India.
2) His voyage was financed by SPAIN because Britain had a monopoly on goods from India and Asia at the time thanks to a lucrative trade deal between the two.
3) They weren't "looking for" anywhere. They knew the place existed, and had maps explaining how to get there. They were hoping to find *a western route* to the location, because the terms of the monopolizing trade deal Britain had was based on traveling east vs west from Europe to get there.
And all of this is completely ignoring the piece de resistance: one of the single most famous figures from Indian history to a western audience would be Gandhi (thanks Sid Meyers). What was Gandhi famous for? Oh yeah, he lead a peaceful rebellion/independence "war"...against BRITISH rulers!!! DX

"Who researches black holes? " is WAY more difficult a question than "Was India a British colony?", even if you only had Stephen Hawking and Genghis Khan as the two possible choices.
