The question was about words which had similar prefix pronunciation (knight/needle). Starting with an “n” sound. Geoff answered as if the question asked what words sound the same in their entirety (knight/kite). Geoff focused on the suffix sound of “ite/ight.” “Now” grammatically could be correct, but for some reason the only correct answer was needle.

Knight is /naɪt/, Needle is /'ni:dəl and now is /naʊ/. I answered this above, but actually needle is the wrong answer. The phonetic transcription has knight and now beginning with the same sound only. They also don't teach this in k12 so technically needle and now should still both be the correct answer. Unless teachers have just given up (which kinda think they have to be honest)

In case anyone is confused about the math one at 18:30 , the answer is 92. 832 (total games) - 462 (games won) is 370 (games lost) then you subtract 370 from 462 and there's the answer! 92!

As someone who's training to be a Speech Language Pathologist, that Needle/Now question was total bullshit. Both have the phonemic /n/ sound, exactly the same as the first sound in knight.
I think the question was asking for the actual sound from the first letter and vowel. So, needle has a 'neee' sound and now has a 'nuh' sound. Knight also has a 'nuh' sound. Perhaps that's what the question was asking.
Knight and needle has a "e/i" pronunciation after the "n" sound, whilst now has a more "a" related pronunciation. This makes "needle", sound more like "knight" than "now". So for the official American English language, needle would be the most likely candidate.
9:17 This question makes no sense. If it means the pronunciation "n" then there are two possible answers but if it means the pronunciation of "ni" then none of the answers are correct...
Omg, I've watched this plenty of times & everytime I still end up exactly like Geoff when the June question for Gavin came up. Best part of this vid was that entire scene & their reactions.XD
seanreaper2398 I think we can learn Spanish starting at 5th grade, but we don't learn French until high school if I am right. (I go to a private school.)
when Gavin said he couldn't figure out the math on the wild card at around 19:00, i felt an incredible urge to fly to Austin just to explain it, I live in Canada.
You have to read it as being spelt by an English speaker though. «J» is pronounced 'ji' which in English terms is the sound of the 's' in 'measure' and the 'long E' sound, so 'zhee' would be a sensible way to spell it phonetically. How would you have wanted them to spell it?
I can so see Millie (Geoff's daughter) explaining the June Wednesday thing to Gavin and he just gets so frustrated because he doesn't get it and he keeps squaking about the 3rd Wednesday of May.
I love the Achievement Hunter logic: -Make fun of people for calling it trivia Tuesday -Only release game-show let's plays on Tuesdays (I'm not defending anyone or mocking the AH crew, just pointing it out.)
No, it was terrifically worded. All points on the surface of the Earth (except the poles) constantly travel to the East. ***** (suitably) identified it as a trick question, and it's tricky in exactly the way that it tricked Gavin.
tibschris Trick questions aren't hard, they're just stupid. That is the part of the question you /don't/ need to read, because that's stating a fact. Gavin starts reading, realises he knows the fact, then moves on to the question part of the question. Trick questions are designed for smart-arse 10 year olds who don't know anything, so instead get easy questions like that.
Tatyboy1337 Maybe it's because I'm an astrophysicist so that particular question couldn't trick me. A better question would have been "which way does the Earth rotate to cause the Sun to appear to rise and set? [East] [West]" Yeah, questions that _intend to trick_ aren't fair. This is just a poor game all-round.
I just randomly saw this video today, and was shocked to see a familiar face in the comment section! And yeah, I was thinking the same thing about that question. Quality assurance testing? What's that?
Nah it's a short n vs long n, I can't remember what grade it was in but it's phonetics. Idk what americans learn but I wouldn't expect any kid to know that.
Knight is /naɪt/, Needle is /'ni:dəl and now is /naʊ/. That's the phonetic transcription for each of those 3 words. Needle is actually the wrong answer because it's phonetic transcription is /'n where as now perfectly matches knight with /n. However they definitely aren't teaching phonetic transcription to k12 students so that entire question is garbage as the answer should be now and needle.
KimmimaruSai Except it was supposed to be a 2nd grade question and it was actually the other way around. Now matches up with knight and not needle based on the way it is emphasized
My favourite thing immediately about this LP is that in my Subscriptions List directly beneath this is a perfect thumbnail of Gus in relation to this LP.
Sad part is, about 90% of what I learned in school was entirely useless to me, I cannot name a single time I needed to know about some ancient navy in the past to get past day to day problems.
Clearly you're not a successful person. Successful people are resourceful and find a way to use all the knowledge they've acquired instead of bitching "WHY I GOTTA KNOW ALGEBRA TO FLIP BURGERS?"
I think that saying it can cure cancer takes it a little too far. I know you didn't mean to make it offensive, but just think a little more about what you say in comments. I hope that you will take this into consideration.
Trust me, I'm always very careful when posting comments online, if only because I'm not a native speaker and every word I choose I think about if it's right or wrong in context. I don't see anything offensive about my comment. Not only is the focus of it clearly positive, it doesn't begin to compare to all the rape and death threats and curses people post daily on all kinds of outlets. True, as horrible as it is, cancer is a real thing. But nowhere did I mitigate cancer or it's effects; instead I focussed on the extreme positive effect of Geoff's laugh. Happiness can cure mental hurt and that too can effect a person's physical health. Those who get depressed during the process of fighting cancer are more likely to stay sick longer, or never get better at all, compared to those who have a fighter-mentality. I'm sure most people can feel that positivity which fuels a good attitude in this video. So, in a sense, there is truth in my comment. And, some well-meant friendly advise... if you really found that comment offensive, I suggest you never travel to the Low Countries. People wish all kinds of horrible deaths and diseases upon each other every day. Unless you can handle a healthy daily dose of 'I hope you get the typhus and die in a ditch', you might wanna stay away...
Nyrata It's a sad day when someone who is "not a native speaker" can type out a better paragraph, with better grammar and more complex words than half of the native speakers that post comments on youtube.
I couldn't handle that calendar question. Just look at it. For one, the number of days in JUNE has NOTHING to do with the question. Secondly, you can just simply look at the answers. You have four answers, all of which are multiples of 7. You're asked for the THIRD Wednesday. I love ya, Gavin....but holy shit, man!
If Gavin stopped and looked at the answers more closely I'm sure he would have figured it out but he focused on trying to do the math in his head and eventually just picked a random answer because he got frustrated. Honestly, I didn't get the question either because I was in the same boat as Gavin, trying to count out the days instead of looking at the answers to see if there was an easier way. Plus he's not the one who said that kite starts with the same sound as knight.
Actually the number of days in June DOES matter, at least determining whether it has 30 or 31 days, to then determine how many days May has. If May 3rd falls on wednesday, and may has 31 days, then June 1st falls on a thursday so answer is 21st. But if May has 30 days, june 1st is a wednesday, thus the third wednesday is the 15th.
my favorite thing is that sometimes Ryan has so much patience for Gavin. and sometimes he's having none of Gavin's shit and will argue with him until it turns into a shouting match, which neither parties will win (the coin debate).
So they finally are having everyones commentary, instead of just the people playing the game. I loved Ryans and Jacks contribution to this even though they werent playing. They should do it more often.
Well, if anything that would give you an advantage, since one common trait of autism is better abstract reasoning skills. Besides, he got it right then changed his answer when everyone started yelling at him. I think the pressure melted his brain.
Alan Brock I think he only hovered over the right answer in the first place because of intuition rather than either a mathematical or a logical conclusion.
It wouldn't be if we had any reason to believe Gavin had actually thought it through that much. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Gavin is stupid in the conventional sense; if anything, that just makes it funnier.
Damn I miss these golden days. I come back to all the og videos to remind myself how achievement hunter was once great and pretty perfect. Miss the original 6.
Really, people? Every time I look at the comments I see people whining at Jack for being himself. First you want him to talk more. Now you want him to stop talking. See, this is what made JonTron leave Game Grumps. As soon as he left, people were whining that it wasn't the same without him. I'd bet if Jack left, people would do exactly the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, Jack (if you're reading this), keep doing what you're doing at RT. And when people complain, which they will, just rub it in their faces that you've got a job at a great company that the majority of the fanbase would kill for. And enjoy relishing in your victory.
Wait... I haven't seen anyone post anything about Jack on this vid before your comment... I agree though, Jack might not be the most extravagant, but he is great at what he does.
if you knew anything about any other languages, and it's possible a lot of americans don't because of the schooling, there was only one French-looking word.
Gavin: "These questions are hard.." Michael: "Gavin, you got one wrong." Michael.. you got to answer two questions and you answered both of them wrong XD
Um last time I watched Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader (in America), I was under the impression that it was a game show that tests you to see if you are smarter than the average *American* 5th grader. Soooo why in the fuckery is there a question for the french word for "shut" in the 2nd grade category?!?! What public elementary school in the US is teaching French to 2nd graders!?! I didn't learn the french word for shut until 9th grade, but that's because I chose to learn that language! This is some bullshit, lol.
elementshero89 We were meant to learn Spanish, actually, but after fifth grade they cut it. So I can believe that it could go both ways--it depends on the region and how much the local government views the education budget as less of an investment and more of a till to reach into whenever they want to cut taxes to stir up base support.
Come on guys (people in the comments), I've never defended Gavin in anything, but this I understand how he thinks. Gavin is really really REALLY smart, it just takes him a longer time to figure problems out, especially with numbers. He does work like this in a slow manner because he probably wants to make sure he gets it right. I know because I can relate to him; I get straight A's in school, and a GPA of 4.0 with honors classes and AP classes, but I have to take a class called CA (curriculum assistance) because I'm a slower worker. That doesn't mean I'm stupid, I just like to take my time during tests and other work, and CA gives me extra time to do that because I do worst on tests knowing that I have limited time and would then stress out over it, making me lose concentration. If I lost CA, I would still be smart, but my grades would fall because I don't have enough time to finish a test. Sorry if I went too deep on my school life, I was just trying to make a point I guess. But Gavin ISN'T stupid, he is just slower at working, which would make other people (not just the AH members) think he's stupid because they can figure things out before him.
To be honest just because you do really good in school technically doesn't make you smart. I didn't so hot in school and i'm actually smarter than most of my (already graduated) classmates. It just means he worked in school, doesn't make him smart. Because see he may be book smart but he definitely isn't street smart. He lacks in common sense by far and technically for this game to even be logical you don't have to be all that book smart to pass.
***** His failure sounded real enough. The Wednesday thing made me truly question if he dropped out of middle school. I'm sorry, but that seemed too stupid to be fake.
When said Navy I thought of Phoenicia initially but when Geoff picked Greece I thought of military wise, but the questions was not specific to that so yeah I thought Phoenicia
Wow, Geoff's question about what word begins with the same sound as knight was bullshit. Gavin and Jack are right that "now" and "needle" should not both be options
Um... Knight makes a Nye sound, now makes a Naow sound Needle makes Knee.. Wait a second. That IS Fucked up. Just because the host of the show may say it like Nydle doesn't mean that everyone else does lol.
The state border ones are fucked up too. Even if you were able to recognize the state, WHICH border is it talking about? Pretty sure every state except for Alaska and Hawaii border multiple other states. Not to mention the two math questions Gavin got. There's no way a fifth grader would be able to do either of those in their heads, let alone most adults.
I remember this show and hated it because the questions are obviously not elementary school questions. Also, I still don't understand that "Knight" question... someone explain to me how "now" isn't an answer but "needle" is the answer.
snowdogmula "K-night" starts with a strong 'Ni' sound; "needle" starts with a strong 'Ni' sound. Unlike, "Now", which starts with a soft 'Na' sound. :)
Am I the only one that actually enjoys Trivia Tuesday? They're doing these ironically but they're actually some of the best stuff I've seen from these guys in a while.
This show is complete bullcrap. XD I don't know most of these questions. Honestly, what 2nd grader learns French unless they learn it online or from family? I've never heard of a public school that forces 2nd grade kids to learn a language.
What the fucking hell. Of course many schools and 2nd graders study more than english. By that time, we were studying spanish, french, english and galician. Then in 3rd grade, when I moved to america french was still a compulsive option. What kind of school did you go to??? Because learning languages since you're practically a kid is pretty damn important to become something.
Scrunch Meehehe Would love to point out, no public school and the majority of private/charter schools in the world do NOT start a third language in primary schools, nor do they go anywhere as in depth in science, world geography, math, history, or health. Those questions are pulled from 6th grade and up
://ReaperReaper In california in the first and second grade we had to take spanish when I was a kid, as well as 6th and 7th grade requiring you to take either a full year of french or spanish. Both are considered primary school so you are wrong.
adwilif that's a nice pot of bullshit. California curriculum does NOT include Spanish in primary school, which is grades k-5 in the US, 1-6 in the UK, which their first grade is kindergarten in the US.
***** No he has a point. When you word it like that sure it sounds dumb but outside of math every answer is possible, within limits of course, 28 is to big 14 is to small and Gavin is a moron
TheRandomSkillz i thought that at the very beginning. 28 requires 4 weeks and 14 can't go past 2 weeks. When he was on the answer and pressed 21 i was screaming lock in lmao.
Gavin getting the question wrong wasn't fair because he had the right answer but micheal pressured him to pick the wrong answer. He is always getting teased about being dumb so when micheal started shouting at him he freaked out. :(
Yamil Torres Oh yeah? Lets see you try to solve a problem like that in a room with 5 other people yelling over each other. Lets see how easy it is for you to try and concentrate on that problem with that shit going.
So many problems with this game. 1. It has unreleastic expectations of school kids. What American 1st Grader knows French? I finished High School and I don't know French. The game thinks 2nd Graders should know all the state shapes and their border relations, yet I didn't learn that till 4th grade. And 5th Graders should know how big the moons of Jupiter are? I didn't even study ANY kind of Astronomy until 8th Grade. 2. Buggy. The "Knight" question proves that. 3. It's subjective. "Who had the first great Navy in the Mediterranean?" What defines "great"? Is it relative to the rest of the region, in which case 2 military ships can mean great? Is there a set number of ships? Is it based on number of ships, quality of ships, or quality of soldiers? How organized a command structure do you need to be "great"? This is why I stopped watching the show long ago. It's so stupid.
I know right, that last question alone had 3 possible answers! Phoenicia was the first to have a vast ammount of ships, but most of them were used for commerce, so i don´t know if you could consider them a navy. Greece was the first to have a legit naval army capable of warding off invaders. And Italy (technically Rome, but they want countries) had the first navy that was used to conquer on a large scale. Man fuck this shit.
Minoans were far before Phoenicians, if they were going to go down the semantics route (as they did) then it should have been the Minoans. But no, the people who made the game are even dumber than 5th graders, so I guess I can't expect that much from them.
Fadesound Then why is there fucking English questions and then questions about the Mediterranean. How could a single child know knowledge of English, French, and the Mediterranean all at once?
They all begin with the alveolar nasal, or /n/. It's probably one of those elementary school things they teach kids in order to (supposedly) simplify it, only for them to later learn that what they thought they knew is total bullshit.
Nope, now is like how, needle is like beetle (but with a d sound instead of t of course). So either of those answers could have been correct technically.
Well, if i had to choose one, it would definitely be 'Now'. They asked for a word starting with the same sound, and Knight/Now start with hard n while Needle starts with soft n, so i don't get why it's needle... I'm not sure if americans make the difference though.
Knight starts with "nu", now starts with "nu". I think this is correct because nothing else makes sense while if you sound it out my way sort of sounds right in a way.
"I am not a very smart person" ;) you would lose that game :D I already realised there was only the lads and geoff (because of the screen at 0:37 ;) ) but I also heard ryan's voice and got irritated so I read the comments and I read yours and I don't feel stupid anymore, thank you! :D
I was laughing pretty consistently throughout watching this video, but I lost it the instantly Gavin asked that perfectly innocent question toward the end. It's too good, man... *laughs*

Perhaps that's what the question was asking.
knight: /naɪt/
needle: /niːdl/
now: /naʊ/
yeah, i think 'now' should have been the correct answer as well.
Knight and needle has a "e/i" pronunciation after the "n" sound, whilst now has a more "a" related pronunciation. This makes "needle", sound more like "knight" than "now".
So for the official American English language, needle would be the most likely candidate.
nidroNsungaM Mostly likely, but still not correct. It's "knight," not "kneet."
ihatemylifenot yes, you do "nuh-eet" or "nah-eet" depending on your dialect, its a diphthong

Right there with ya
Gavin almost killed me with laughter
Oh my god my sides are hurting.
Fucking june 14. God he is an idiot
trevor kingrey Sometimes Gavins says random facts that are really interesting like the tooth enamel one and then he does that lol.
Im just joking about gavin just how did he get june 14 XD
The worst part is he had the right answer to begin with then he changed
The victory animation for correct answers looks like the shower puppet controlled by Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone 2
This deserves a Part 2. Funniest game show Let's Play you've done.
what kind of 1st through 5th grade questions are these
1st and 2nd grades learn french?
seanreaper2398 if these are real questions for 1st-5th grade, then the questions must include private schools as well
darkmatt1578 these must be private school questions cause you start learning french in high school not 1st or 2nd grade
seanreaper2398 I think we can learn Spanish starting at 5th grade, but we don't learn French until high school if I am right. (I go to a private school.)
I go to a private school, and I did not learn French in 1st-5th grade.
when Gavin said he couldn't figure out the math on the wild card at around 19:00, i felt an incredible urge to fly to Austin just to explain it, I live in Canada.
pie41games Where r u from?
Scott Knight I think Canada... :P *sarcasm intensifies*
Shoutout to the Northwest Territories!
Hey yo from Ontario!! :P
alberta here... y'all
"What happens now?"
"Now you get to pick a child too keep." Jack was definitely the highlight of this train wreck.
I'm pretty sure Gavin was....
gavin getting the date question wrong was funnier imo
***** *Is
xParanoiaAgentx But that was accidental humor.
Personally, gavin being a complete idiot was the highlight
I'm French and that's absolutely not how we pronounce the letter "J". None of the possible answers were right...
yeah i was thinking the same thing lmao
It's an American television program, be lenient
@@High_Priest_Jonko Do it right or don't do it.
You have to read it as being spelt by an English speaker though. «J» is pronounced 'ji' which in English terms is the sound of the 's' in 'measure' and the 'long E' sound, so 'zhee' would be a sensible way to spell it phonetically. How would you have wanted them to spell it?
@@kourii You're really gonna correct a 4 year old comment on a 6 year old video, lol?
I can so see Millie (Geoff's daughter) explaining the June Wednesday thing to Gavin and he just gets so frustrated because he doesn't get it and he keeps squaking about the 3rd Wednesday of May.
I'm impressed that Gavin corrected them on pronouncing "Schließen".
Oh, shieße
Ray's issues with Tom literally almost killed me. I forgot to bretah for a minute there, as I was laughing so hard.
I love the Achievement Hunter logic:
-Make fun of people for calling it trivia Tuesday
-Only release game-show let's plays on Tuesdays
(I'm not defending anyone or mocking the AH crew, just pointing it out.)
Well, they just dont want to put themselves in another box where every tuesday, they HAVE to upload or else the fans get cranky.
***** You're right, knowing the price of a washing machine by heart is definitely not trivial information.
“I hope no fifth graders are watching this video” - Gavin, I was in 5th grade when this video first came out and yes I watched it then
Gavin's question on the rotation of the earth was poorly worded. The east to west bit was implied as a statement rather than part of the question.
***** for it to be poorly worded whats the sense in that?!?!?!
KonKarnage The show is made up to make grown-ups make a fool of themselves on national TV... There's the sense ;)
[East] [West]"
Yeah, questions that _intend to trick_ aren't fair. This is just a poor game all-round.
Michael's laugh when it said pick a kid, jesus lol
That "knight" question is bullshit. There's two answers that begin with that right sound.
I learned phonetics in elementary school and I am now in high school...
KimmimaruSai Except it was supposed to be a 2nd grade question and it was actually the other way around. Now matches up with knight and not needle based on the way it is emphasized
I love it how Michael said “it’s simple math” and got it wrong
I'm with Gavin, I didn't understand that math question till Ryan explained it. Probably one of their funniest let's plays in my opinion.
My favourite thing immediately about this LP is that in my Subscriptions List directly beneath this is a perfect thumbnail of Gus in relation to this LP.
Hahaha me too
Glad to hear them discuss Wisconsin.
yup
But not when they called it the Mitten State...that's Michigan.
Jen Paul Jack called it Wisconsin
AGamersNationAGN Then he said it's the mitten state. Which is wrong. Michigan is clearly the mitten state.
Sad part is, about 90% of what I learned in school was entirely useless to me, I cannot name a single time I needed to know about some ancient navy in the past to get past day to day problems.
History is incredibly helpful when you are a writer.
Veyraa Ceyrsilde not necessarily
Ahsain List a single exception to the rule.
Clearly you're not a successful person. Successful people are resourceful and find a way to use all the knowledge they've acquired instead of bitching "WHY I GOTTA KNOW ALGEBRA TO FLIP BURGERS?"
Sydney Carton clearly you don’t need to be that smart to be successful.
I mean look at the commander in Chief...
Geoff's laugh can cure cancer :3
Fails of the Weak no.1 right there.
I understan fully what you mean. What I meant was that the people woth cancer may be thinking about it negativley thats all.
Who the hell learns the French language in first grade?
A French child.
My 5 year old sister can count to 50 in French.
I'm 15 and can count to 20.
Most Canadian elementary schools teach french immersion or teach core french from kindergarten to grade 9/12
Carlos Abrego Well that's because Canada is a French/English country. Both languages are spoken pretty much equally.
Not really unless you're in Quebec, and they also do Spanish immersion in some areas
DrBreakfastMachine no Gavin didn't understand the questions
DrBreakfastMachine To be fair to Geoff.....there were two correct answers....or none at all....
lugialover09 That's even worse. There were two correct answers to choose from and HE GOT NEITHER OF THEM.
"That's Wisconsin, the mitten state." Are. You. Serious. T . T
As someone who lives in the mitten state, MICHIGAN, I'm disappointed XD
Same here xD
MICHIGAN PEOPLE UNITE
Yeah same shouout to detroit
Jacob Moon Fuck yourself
THANK YOU
I think I learned a lesson from this video:
EUCALYPTUS.
23:52 well it's 10 years later.
20:56, Come on Gavin, I'm autistic and I got that one XD
Well, if anything that would give you an advantage, since one common trait of autism is better abstract reasoning skills. Besides, he got it right then changed his answer when everyone started yelling at him. I think the pressure melted his brain.
Alan Brock I think he only hovered over the right answer in the first place because of intuition rather than either a mathematical or a logical conclusion.
elitefencer777 I think that's how Gavin does everything.
It wouldn't be if we had any reason to believe Gavin had actually thought it through that much. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Gavin is stupid in the conventional sense; if anything, that just makes it funnier.
rodgamer Lol are you sure about that bud?
Damn I miss these golden days. I come back to all the og videos to remind myself how achievement hunter was once great and pretty perfect. Miss the original 6.
Geoff: "What happens now?"
Jack: "Now you pick a child to keep"
Omg Jack xD xD xD
SCHLIEßEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Gavin Free, 2014
Jack is fucking legend!
The beard will destroy all who oppose it and enslave the trolls of youtube !!!
The beard will destroy all who oppose it and enslave the trolls of youtube !!!
people are even bitching about jack when he's not even playing? oO
Wait... I haven't seen anyone post anything about Jack on this vid before your comment... I agree though, Jack might not be the most extravagant, but he is great at what he does.
I find it hard to believe 2nd graders knew what the French word for shut is
if you knew anything about any other languages, and it's possible a lot of americans don't because of the schooling, there was only one French-looking word.
Luke Torgerson american schools rarely teach foreign languages before high school, but really who takes french especially in america...
Luke Torgerson We didn't start learning French until Year 5, which I am fairly sure is after Second grade.
BobDoe People in Maine, for one. We're on the border with Quebec.
"ferme les bouches" was my first introduction to the word in french and that was my 8th grade year of middle school.
Its 2019. Ray left AH 4 years ago. This is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen to this day
Gavin: "These questions are hard.."
Michael: "Gavin, you got one wrong." Michael.. you got to answer two questions and you answered both of them wrong XD
You kidding me? I'm in such a shit poor district that I don't even have the option to take French at any point of my public school career.
Yea, it was kinda annoying watching this considering how poorly made the questions were.
Right? I didn't take French until my Junior and Senior year in high school!
I was actually mandated to take french from 2nd grade to 8th grade, the only years I didn't have to take it was high school
elementshero89
We were meant to learn Spanish, actually, but after fifth grade they cut it.
So I can believe that it could go both ways--it depends on the region and how much the local government views the education budget as less of an investment and more of a till to reach into whenever they want to cut taxes to stir up base support.
I like how Jack and Ryan were in this video, despite not actually being in the game :)
The mitten state is Michigan Jack...
I cannot believe that you said that....
Ray going off on Tom, the math question, AND the 3rd week of June question...classic Let's Play!
"Bone is the hardest mineral in the body, Ray"
Famous last words.
Gavin doesnt work slow to get things right almost everytime he opens his mouth should tell you that
..Did my comment get deleted? Holy crap. That's pretty childish.
No, he works in a slow manner because he is apart of the slow mo guys.
I'll show myself out ;(
You deleted comments disagreeing with you? Super mature. Great job.
I paused it at 11:33 on the dot and that must have been the single most terrifying thing I have ever seen.
I still dont get the knight question
9:25 ok so the answer is needle, but now works too. thats a poorly made question. and the person still chose kite and didn't read the word "begins".
I forgot how great this video was. Thanks UA-cam algorithm for not messing up for once!
Gavin is the kid we had to wait on while taking our various state assessment tests.
I'm doing finals right now and there's a guy that looks like him who's dumb as shit
Every classroom has that one guy. Lol.
Ryan Broman
Gavin isn't dumb though. He's playing a character on Achievement Hunter.
HOLyP | Gaming You're right. On videos he's an idiot, but if you listen to him talk about video editing and recording, he's a fucking genius!
***** His failure sounded real enough. The Wednesday thing made me truly question if he dropped out of middle school. I'm sorry, but that seemed too stupid to be fake.
10 years fly by man - the next 10 I can only imagine -
I know no one is gonna care, but I was so pumped I got the Phoenicia one.
I care buddy. I care.
Greece was a good answer, i forgot about Phoenicia. i believe they settled Carthage
erisd123 They did!
Seriously, this game is so awful, it's like no one proofread the questions and answers xD
Also, I still don't understand that "Knight" question... someone explain to me how "now" isn't an answer but "needle" is the answer.
now has a harsher annunciation on it because of the "o" while needle is soft much like the "n" in knight which follows the silent k.
Both words have strong "N"
***** its basically when you say needle you say n longer than you would now
snowdogmula "K-night" starts with a strong 'Ni' sound; "needle" starts with a strong 'Ni' sound. Unlike, "Now", which starts with a soft 'Na' sound. :)
ProfuseCompliments ''Knight'' starts with a ''Na'' sound.
Rays character has a nose like Gavin
Am I the only one that actually enjoys Trivia Tuesday? They're doing these ironically but they're actually some of the best stuff I've seen from these guys in a while.
3:47 AWWW WHAT IM NOT FRENCH!!
This show is complete bullcrap. XD
I don't know most of these questions.
Scrunch Meehehe
Shh
I went to a crappy school, honestly.
Scrunch Meehehe
Would love to point out, no public school and the majority of private/charter schools in the world do NOT start a third language in primary schools, nor do they go anywhere as in depth in science, world geography, math, history, or health.
Jack-"That's Wisconsin, the mitten state"
No Jack that's Michigan.
Jack doesn't play because honestly he'd probably clean house at a game like this. Well, at least when playing against other members of the AH crew.
Unless there's a lightning round, then Ryan kicks his ass.
DaPopeANata *nod nod* Sad but true.
True but I hope Jack was kidding when he said Wisconsin is the mitten state.
It was literally impossible for the answer to be anything other than the 21st.
What. The. Fuck.
*****
No he has a point. When you word it like that sure it sounds dumb but outside of math every answer is possible, within limits of course, 28 is to big 14 is to small and Gavin is a moron
TheDark4light
Thank you, apparently I wasn't clear enough for the gavin fanboys.
TheRandomSkillz i thought that at the very beginning. 28 requires 4 weeks and 14 can't go past 2 weeks. When he was on the answer and pressed 21 i was screaming lock in lmao.
I didn't learn any of this when I was 8.
The show in one sentence
I did! X3
I would say most of these questions were targets around my 7th grade year.
the knights who say needle
ProjectXVR32 this comment is a winner, well done sir
Nice.
Wait how needle sound like knight
Gavin is right. The German ß is not a b. It is pronounced the same, almost, as the English "ss".
all I learned is that math STILL sucks!
William Siravo *I* got all the math problems right...
***** Nobel Prize winner right here.
*****
pffft, I wish.
***** Same here
Gavin getting the question wrong wasn't fair because he had the right answer but micheal pressured him to pick the wrong answer. He is always getting teased about being dumb so when micheal started shouting at him he freaked out. :(
Then he deserves it, it shouldn't have taken him more than 25, maybe 30 seconds at most to answer.
Yamil Torres Oh yeah? Lets see you try to solve a problem like that in a room with 5 other people yelling over each other. Lets see how easy it is for you to try and concentrate on that problem with that shit going.
Joe Cheeseman shut the fuck up u mong
Brendan Forston lol your mad cuz i make a perfectly good fucking point, you god damned idiot.
Mich wow many hate
When did the show ever say American 5th graders? There’s 5th graders in French.
Fadesound Then why is there fucking English questions and then questions about the Mediterranean. How could a single child know knowledge of English, French, and the Mediterranean all at once?
You can take foreign language classes other than Spanish in many schools.
I love how Micheal says Gavin is stupid but he was the first one out
Seriously, what was up with that Knight/Needle/Now question? Are one or two of those words pronounced differently than I've been taught my whole life?
They all begin with the alveolar nasal, or /n/. It's probably one of those elementary school things they teach kids in order to (supposedly) simplify it, only for them to later learn that what they thought they knew is total bullshit.
Even on the real life show, they have bullshit answers for some of their questions. In some cases they've had flat out wrong answers.
Gavin's 14th June nearly made me die of laughter, I admit that the others reactions had helped it.
HOLY SHIT!! I BARELY NOTICED RYAN WASNT PLAYING AND IM AT THE END!!!
O_O I didn't notice it until I read your comment
***** yes...*whispers* yes
"I am not a very smart person" ;) you would lose that game :D I already realised there was only the lads and geoff (because of the screen at 0:37 ;) ) but I also heard ryan's voice and got irritated so I read the comments and I read yours and I don't feel stupid anymore, thank you! :D
Ryan and Jack both weren't playing. Both were just sitting there talking and narrating the entire time.
Dude it's called commentating not narrating
I was laughing pretty consistently throughout watching this video, but I lost it the instantly Gavin asked that perfectly innocent question toward the end. It's too good, man... *laughs*
