  • In this video I swap the factory scales and hardware off of my Spyderco Para3 in Maxamet and display my amateur knife maintenance skills, or lack thereof. The scales are Blue Denim Micarta from Ripps Garage Tech LLC, and the hardware is Bronze Anodized Titanium from Flytanium. The clip used is from Lynch Northwest. All items are linked below.

    I know this an old video, but an easy way to remove the liners from the scales is to screw in your pocket clip on the liner side and use that as a "handle" to pry the liner out.

    Rad mod Jake. Those look great. Hoping Ripp’s gets some copper scales back in stock soon. It’ll add weight but I think they look dope.

      Thanks man! I think copper scales would look dope, I tried ti scales on a PM2 once and it just wasn’t for me unfortunately. I like light PM2’s and Para3’s 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Skinny para 3 scales look nice but they take away greatly from the ergonomics, if fells like theres nothing in the back half of your hand.

    Did the flytanium press fit pin/spacer by the front of the knife make your compression lock have lock stick? I noticed my press fit pin from flytanium was slightly larger or more tighter fitting than the stock one and plus the compression lock being steel rubbing against the titanium press fitting ends up galling and causing lock stick.

    The pivot of my para 3 broke and i ordered one from titanium. You think is going to be as durable? Thank you

    • @beardedgear
      @beardedgear  4 роки тому

      The internals of the pivot or just the screws? The Flytanium screws are great, but they don’t replace the internal component of the pivot.

    Might help if you weren't using that monstrosity of a Benchmade tool to unscrew the screws. I mean there are drivers you know?

    Sharp Dressed Knives makes a lanyard removal tool. Pliers helps to keep spacers from spinning, but use a cloth to protect it.
