Look in NE and SE don't be scared. Lol' the neighborhoods aren't too bad. 🤣😂🤣 you got a gun right. Only people who aren't from DC think those areas are bad....I lived in an affluent area and a up and coming area. All the criminal things I have experienced happened in the affluent areas. Newcomers to the city often listen to old people who moved out of the city in 85. I'm from DC, where I live in NE was wild when I was younger. Now, I have seniors as neghibors an people who walk their dogs at midnight. If you leave folks alone they will leave you alone. Good luck.
That makes sense! I think a lot of the messages I got about those areas being less safe are from my parents, so the time frame lines up. I lived in the College Park & Hyattsville areas for two years (off campus), and while they were objectively higher crime areas in MD, I never experienced any issues myself and felt pretty safe.
I live in NE DC, in fact a bought in 2012 and my mortgage is 1500, no I could not buy this house today. But your right stay in the New Hill East area and you will be fine, The Dangerous parts upper numbers NE ....30's and above. Avoid Congress heights.
HAHA! This video had me cracking up...you rent amount 😳😂...and that "trraansport action" lol. I love the look of buildings in DC. Good luck on your search!
Those “apartment” sites are rife with overpriced places. I am old so I miss the days of looking at rental ads in the papers. It wasn’t all sorts of corporate developments where they put unnecessary and uncalled for “public” areas in the place and charge the earth. I don’t need or want a movie theatre in my “complex” I am looking for a home to live in--not an overpriced dorm. Where are the flats and duplexes? You never see those on those massive sites. It’s always…”Cederbrooke at The Willows” or some such name and you actually live in a closet while vast areas of the complex are taken up with “public” areas. I have seen ads on those apartment sites where they show maybe two pictures of the unit itself--both fisheyed to a fare-thee-well--and maybe ten photos of exterior and common areas. Your private space is a cell and they think they are running a glorified boarding school. Unfortunately Craigslist is all scams for the most part but there must be some way to find rentals that aren’t all corporate dorm rooms or holding out for Bezos to rent them.
Northeast? Dangerous? I have family that lives right by H st. That’s far from dangerous and a very bougie area. Maybe you’re referring to the outer skirts of NE?
Baltimore has my heart 💕 I feel like it's similar to Philly where I live in so many ways - and it gets a bad wrap, and is highly overpoliced. It's a massively gentrifying area as well, so just be mindful of that, be cordial, mind your business and should be fine lol
Great video! I had to get out of my old spot too for the same reason. Need that privacy. Love living on my own now. I’m in DC too!
We have the same exact salary so this video was really helpful (:

thanks for this...I am looking for housing near or within DC and this really helps since I will be relocating from Guam to the mainland.

Hahahhaha thank you!! I'm happy I can give a laugh :P It's a struggle in the area but we're gonna make it work
With your salary look into inclusionary zoning for luxury buildings below market rate.
I thought most dangerous part of dc is SE
Gasoline very expensive if you live too far away
Oh yeah housing costs include even utilties 🙃

Btw, what platform do you use to share your video and screen record at the same time?
Thank you for the inside tips :) I’m excited to check out the area more. Btw, I screen record with QuickTime on Mac, and I record with iPhone!
Baltimore is not policed enough and i actually lived there
Just search in Maryland only. I’m from DC / LIVE here. DC won’t fit your budget! 💕 happy searching tho!
