Yukon Striker Review, Canada's Wonderland B&M Dive Machine | Best Dive Coaster
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 лип 2022
- Yukon Striker is a Bolliger & Mabillard dive machine at Canada's Wonderland. This is the tallest and fastest dive coaster out there, and it also features a more complete layout with four inversions and lots of positive forces. This is why I think it's the best of the genre!

Absolutely love this ride. This seemed like the gold standard for queue and locker logistics. Definitely makes Valravn look like a parking lot coaster. I think the vertical loop is my favorite element here, but all the elements on this ride are great.
The locker system is definitely cool.
Surprisingly I really like these modern B&M dives! Even if they aren't ultra intense they're a lot of fun and great fits for most parks
This one has some bite to it.
Good to hear that Yukon Striker packs on the intensity. I think Valravn is overhated but it's definitely a bit more floaty than I would like it to be. I always thought an intense dive coaster would be magic.
I do like Valravn, but this is better.
Valravn was my first dive coaster, and I wasn't super impressed, I loved Yukon Striker, and rode Valravn again that same year, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love the dive coasters, and this is easily my favorite. I only slightly prefer Leviathan at this park, but I keep going back & forth. I seem to like a lot of the rides that the enthusiasts hate but the general public love. I also like the vest restraints. Even though Griffon & SheiKra don't give me headbanging, it's still nice to not even have to worry about it here. I always overhear others praising the vest restraints. It's crazy how often I would find Valravn's line about the same length as Steel Vengeance's when I've been there. It just speaks to how popular these rides are.
I prefer the hard OTSRs on dives, but the restraints aren't bad by any means.
5:56 I also find it interesting conisdering that the loop is the only inversion type available on RCT’s dive coasters.
True!
my expectations were low for this coaster so when i was on the drop, i was shocked by the floater airtime, it was amazing
It's great.
Great video! Great to see someone other than Amusment insiders give Yukon Striker the love it deserves.
It's a great ride.
i love binge watching your reviews!
Glad you like them!
This was my favourite ride in the park before I came to Europe for my first ever coaster trip, it will be interesting to see how this changes once I’m back home get back to the park but certainly Oblivion TBH and Krake could not come close to Striker and considering how short the original Oblivion is, I can’t imagine that will offer a challenge when I get on it next week so Striker will certainly stay at the top of dive coasters for me.
This one has a much fuller layout.
Good to finally see a review as positive as my opinion of this ride is! It’s my #3 in the park, though it can cross into #2 if behemoth is overly trimmed that day. Great review!
Nice!
Interesting was not expecting this positive of a review I haven’t heard too many things about Yukon Striker
Not sure how many people have ridden it since it was only open for 1 year before covid.
Looks so good!
It is.
the contouring of the vests lap portion has same feel as the b&m clamshells on the hypers. i approve.
They are comfortable.
I have no way of proving it, but I have always guessed your numerical rating before you reveal it. You're definitely consistent!
Thanks!
This ride looks absolutely amazing, I hope to make it back up to my former home park to give this thing several rides!
It is awesome.
I LOVE IT!
Nice!
This seriously looks like one of the best B&M Dives. Iv only ridden SheiKra and I bet those vests do take away from the experience a little but everything else this rulide has. The unique but genius idea of bind going over the station, the 4 inversions, 1 of which is 1 of a kind, the fact that it's a B&M Dive was a vertical loop, the helix over the plasa, everything. And that drop that goes through the helix of Vortex and under water, oh my god.
The inversions really amplify the ride.
definitely the best of the 3 in wonderland
I like Leviathan best.
The ride looks amazing as well as a worthy addition to Canada's Wonderland! And I think the title of Best Dive Coaster may change once Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger opens at SFFT this Saturday (based on the test run footage we've seen from it).
This park really needed a good inverting coaster and this fulfilled it.
@@CanobieCoaster For sure :)
Nah, Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger is way too short to even come close to being better than Yukon Striker!
Love having this monster at my home park! The winder is my favourite element, but the vertical loop is a close second. And that drop, in the back, I’m confident saying this, it’s the most intense coaster in the park. Agreed with it being the best dive. Also because I’m home park biased :)
It is an intense one.
Disagree.
Leviathan or Behemoth are more intense in the back row IMO.
Do agree though that Yukon Striker is better in the 3rd row than the first :)
@@yukonstriker1703 Levi doesn’t seem as strong in the back as the others but I agree with behemoth being best in the back. Behemoth in the back makes it the strongest hyper I’ve ridden.
Because of the huge downpour, I didn't go to Kentucky kingdom today, so I'm going tomorrow instead.
The hotel I'm staying in is literally like a few hundred feet from the park. I think it's really cool to see coasters from the hotel!
Indeed!
I was just at Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday, after staying at a hotel right by the park on Friday night. I loved looking out my window, seeing all the great coasters.
I think this ride might be the best in the park, I love how every valley dives deeper sustaining more speed and positives.
I prefer Leviathan and Behemoth, but this is a great one.
@@CanobieCoaster Too bad Behemoth now has the typical "B&M rattle" at the bottom of each drop :(
@@yukonstriker1703 during the ride you dont even notice :)
@@vdgvova9495 Wouldn't of mentioned the rattle if I didn't notice LOL.
That kid struggling with the bag system, I shouldn't have laughed but I did.
Lol
B&M "weaved" their magic not only in Yukon Striker, but also around it's suspended coaster. Making the area even mORE kinetic! That's an extremely cool name for a coaster too.
I agree.
Still prefer Baron 1898, but this is a solid 2nd!
Baron's theming is sweet.
we need a giga dive someday, that drop looks so menacing
Maybe!
I rode Valravn in 2018, Oblivion in 2019 and Yukon Striker in 2021 and Y.S. was by far the best. Griffon and Sheikra look like they could be better (due to the fact that Dive coasters are the only coaster model where OTSRs are better than vest restraints) but Griffon and Sheikra just don't look like they can match up.
I only rode it in the back car and loved the positive Gs on the descending portion of the inversions, especially the vertical loop! It's probably the best vertical loop I've ridden and I've ridden Full Throttle in the back too.
I'm glad to hear you liked YS! it was my third favourite in the park. It's only problem is that it comes to it's first stop on the EBR in an unnecessarily violent manner, which could turn off people in their 60s, 70s or perhaps even 80s if it wasn't for that EBR brake. Then again I could say the same thing for Valravn, which is clearly inferior to YS anyway.
This layout crushes the other dives.
I have to agree with you on Griffin. Having been on Sheikra and Valravn, I wasnt expecting much-but that thing completely blew me away this summer....Can't wait to see how this compares if I ever make it to Canada.
This one has a lot of power to it.
The loose article bins count as a credit
More like a sky ride.
Love Yukon. Did find the drop a bit scary. Gotta ride it again. Skyrider had a loop, Yukon's is a tribute to Skyrider. I'm very proud of Yukon. It's a great ride.
Indeed.
Love this coaster. But you need to sit on the edge for a more intense feeling. Going into the lake for the first time was a crazy feeling.
The end seats are fun.
It looks good but I would probably prefer Griffon because it replaced the intense inversions with great airtime moments
That's fair.
In 2019, if we picked the line for rows 2 & 3, we were not able to request row 3. It was luck of the draw. Maybe that was because it was still in its first 2 months when I rode it.
Back then, I saw a video from the guy who was covering the construction, and he gave the theory that Yukon Striker was supposed to be built much sooner, immediately after the stand-up was removed, and perhaps not with the underwater tunnel and not quite as tall. That theory stated that Cedar Point was needing a boost for 2016 after not seeing the anticipated attendance growth from Pipe Scream & Rougarou, while Canada's Wonderland was growing just fine without having to add anything. So Cedar Point got the dive coaster instead, which created a big boost for the park. It delayed Yukon Striker a few years, but that might have allowed it to be a better ride in the end. It was interesting theory, but I didn't do any research to follow up.
That wouldn't be the first time Cedar Point hosed Canada's Wonderland.
That 'guy' would be "Amusement Insiders" channel :)
He also thought Yukon Striker would be the first Giga dive coaster LOL
@@yukonstriker1703 At least he did own up to the giga thing. But he was just throwing that out there at the time, more like wishful thinking.
@@OklahomaCoasterFan of course 😂👊
I know some people start with behemoth first but because Yukon striker has shoulder restraints and the turn around on the lift hill Yukon striker will be perfect as my first b&m
That's a good reason to start with that one.
Awesome ride!! I could do laps all day. Ten rides on Sunday, 57 so far for this season, bringing my grand total to 247. Want to hit 300 by Oct 30th.
Lucky!
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. Vortex is a blast. Been going on ever since installed. What is great about the ride is after the turn by the station you're constantly picking up speed until you do the 180 over the water. And are really pushed into the seat when making that turn. Lots laughing the heads off at the end of the run. Fun ride.
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. Vortex is a BLAST! ;)
Best family coaster in the park
Not quite a family coaster.
By the way even though some people are not happy about Yukon striker replacing skyrider I think it was a good choice because sit down roller coasters are much better than stand up roller coasters and the restraints on yukon striker make you feel more secure and it's much smoother than skyrider
I much prefer Yukon Striker.
Glad that this was my 100th coaster
Nice!
To me tundra twister seems like a mixture of psyclone and shockwave and yeah it's not for everyone because I know there are some people that would be afraid to go on it but it does look fun
I'm looking forward to it.
By the way I don't know if anyone has noticed but Yukon striker was originally supposed to be built in 2016 with Skyhawk and flying eagles
I did not.
I gotta tell you canobie coaster I'm excited to see what tundra twister will look like in person I'm gonna be like wow so that's tundra twister that looks pretty insane
It should look great!
I don't think anyone ever called that area "White Water Canyon", it was just an area of the park most people didn't want to be in. (And that would change with the addition of Frontier Canada and other rides were integrated in the section to make it more complete.)
Ah ok, good to know!
Correct.
White Water Canyon is a ride, not the area's name lol
Canobie coaster I think actually Yukon striker is a good warm up for the other two b&ms it's good that it replaced skyrider cause I'm not sure if skyrider was rough but it seemed like it but yukon striker is very smooth and it has very good restraints that make you feel very secure
Leviathan is definitely the scariest B&M there.
Canadas wonderland and carowinds are both so top heavy and in need of replacing some of their lesser coasters
That's true.
I rode this ride in the fall on a rainy day and got 7 rides on it! I love the back and better ride compared to Shekria
Nice!
Cool review. I haven’t ridden this yet. I’ve only ridden SheiKra, Griffon and Valravn. But Yukon striker looks better than those.
It is.
The airtime hill & helix is a nod to Skyrider.
They feel way different for me.
I’d love Wonderland to get a really good launch coaster.
Me too.
Yukon Striker also changed the skyline I see when I drive to the park along the 407 and 400.
Sure did.
I think yukons drop is fantastic as well it's just like the drop on wild beast but much longer and yeah on wild beast you do get airtime on that drop
Yukon's drop is far better.
Yukon Striker probably has the best layout of any dive coaster. Do you grey out on the pullout of Yukon Striker's drop? I remember you said you greyed out on Griffon's pullout.
I did.
I grey out on the pullout of all four of the 200+ ft dive coasters, as long as I'm on an edge seat. And I'm not one who greys out on very much.
@@OklahomaCoasterFan I didn't grey out on Griffon, but I greyed out on Verbolten, and I have greyed out on Backlot Stunt Coaster. Was the grey out on I305 worse for you than Griffon?
@@chargedonpc9989 Backlot Stunt Coaster sometimes gets me too. i305 can give me a stronger and more sustained grey out than Griffon. My greyouts are more of a greying at the sides of my vision. I never loose my vision completely. And they're inconsistent. On some of my i305 rides, it doesn't happen at all.
@@OklahomaCoasterFan My greyouts on Backlot were kinda just greying at the sides as well. Do the positive gs feel stronger on I305?
By the way it would be nice if canada's wonderland got a roller coaster similar to copperhead strike but it might be too scary for some people so I definitely think canada's wonderland will eventually get a spinning mack double launch coaster
That would be nice.
The way they measure coaster height is very accurate all coasters are pretty much there giving height
Yes the heights are usually accurate.
Yesterday all their B&Ms were running extremely fast. I greyed out on the loop and I hardly ever grey out.
Nice!
Canobie coaster I have a question will you be doing a review of tundra twister when it comes out at canada's wonderland
Possibly
You know by the looks of it it seems like tundra twister is gonna be just like star voyager from Marineland cause I saw the concept of it
I hope it's as good if not better.
Boy. It takes that vertical loop comically fast.
Yes
Canobie coaster I don't know if you like skyrider but if you're interested they moved skyrider to a theme park in Italy called cavellino matto
I saw!
“And the much shorter journey for your loose articles” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had to.
From what I have heard, dive coasters have never had headbanging so the vest restraints were unnecessary.
That's fair.
And you know vortex is very smooth for an arrow coaster it's as smooth as dragon fire I know dragon fire is a bit rough but not as rough as flight deck whenever I ride flight deck I'll just keep leaning my head forward until flight deck receives the new vekoma vest restraints
Vortex runs quite smooth.
The newer dive coasters also don’t have a splash down like griffon or sheikra
True!
I really wanna ride this but I don’t like g force that much can any body give me tips on how to over come that
Give it a try and if you don't like it, never go on it again.
I’ll go for it, I don’t like g force that much but it’s not horrible I’d rather the stomach felling then g force
It's good that Canada's Wonderland built Yukon striker a dive coaster that's much better than valravn cause now Canada's Wonderland got their revenge for cedar point screwing Canada's Wonderland into building a vekoma slc which isn't so bad to some people there are some people that enjoy flight deck and I'm definitely one of those people but I'm sorry to the people who dislike flight deck
Yup it was a nice way to get revenge.
Just one question how many inversions did skyrider have
Just 1.
You know by the looks of it tundra twister will have airtime and positive gs and maybe hangtime too but we'll see
I hope it has a wide range of forces.
famous
Best dive.
The Vertical Loop looks very forceful this makes me want to see more dive coasters add vertical loops
Same!
You know actually I think my first b&m will be behemoth I was gonna start out with Yukon striker but because behemoths drop is much less steeper than the other 2 behemoth will be perfect as my first b&m and yeah I did kinda chicken out when I tried to go on it but I think it's because looking at behemoth I thought it had a really really steep drop but it's not that steep behemoths drop is a 75 degree drop so that's good
This one is steeper.
Yukon striker is also better than some of the other dive coasters shiekra at Busch gardens and Griffon because of the restraints
I prefer the old restraints.
I honestly think instead of removing skyrider it should've replaced time warp cause no offense but i definitely think skyrider was better than time warp
Skyrider was better, but it was from a defunct manufacturer and took up more space.
@0:38 Incorrect.
Wonderland was supposed to get Yukon Striker in 2016 but Cedar point got Valravn in 2016 because management decided they needed to boost attendance at Cedar Point.
Anyone in the coaster community already knew this fact.
The area was NOT named "White Water Canyon" dude, that's the name of a water ride located there haha..
The line for Yukon Striker is way longer than an 'hour' on busy days.
The inverted loop pays homage to Skyrider.
I don't find Yukon Striker 'intense', it's butter smooth and feels like you're flying.
Not bashing you, simply correcting you...
I've heard that rumor, but did the park confirm it?
@@CanobieCoaster Not directly from the Park to the public, but it's a known fact.
Check out "Amusement Insiders" here on YT.
He gets all the scoops directly from Grace Peacock, Wonderland's Media Relations Manager.
He made a video discussing it back in 2019 or late 2018 when Yukon Striker was under construction.
Soda striker
Sadly
Yukon striker is much smoother than skyrider skyrider was very rough especially on that double helix it had a lot of headbanging and I can tell because it was so loud
It's so much smoother.
Perfect coaster except the midcourse brake run. They slow the train down too much for the 2nd half.
I wish you had a bit more speed in the second half, but everything before it is fantastic.
@@CanobieCoaster yes luckily its an easy fix if they ever wanted to, just lessen the braking.
You’re wrong about it being the tallest dive because it’s tied with Valravens height
It is the tallest. It's just tied for the tallest.
223' tall
245' drop
I think Dr. Diabolical would take the title from Yukon for the best layout, but the setting is a lot less impressive
This one seems better.
Dr. is too short.
No comparison.
I think it's good that Yukon striker replaced skyrider because skyrider never had a line and I didn't really like skyrider it was brutal and uncomfortable
Skyrider wasn't nearly as comfortable and reridable.
3:38 That's disgusting
Yeah it wasn't good.
