I love how you just look at other DJs and their techniques without hating on anyone for being popular. Just pointing out what they're doing and how they're doing it without judgment is such a breath of fresh air in the often toxic online world. I don't even like DV&LM but I'd rather see what I can learn from them than hear yet another bitter DJ ranting about how things used to be better (they weren't. I was there.).

The REV1 is soooo much fun. It does kinda feel like im re-learning "the craft" again though. This DOES have a slight vinyl feel to me on this controller, which is nice. I'm use to 2 Techs, needles, a mixer, and headphones. Nothing digital, so this is a new world for me. Your videos are really helping this old dj fart, learn new tricks. lol!

It was all Snap Cameras, Paper flyers, and Hotline Numbers to find all the fun raves. Nothing was mainstream yet. Your vinyl collection was SPECIAL and great tracks were actually Rare-to-find. Mine we're so damn expensive, because I ordered my tunes from the UK.

For sure. Would have to be a soulmate type thing to really work. Most DJ/producers aren’t even performing on the fly sets though. They practice the exact same set for weeks or months then your doing the exact same thing over and over nightly. Where many professional DJ’s can read a crowd and change it up. Some of the producer/DJ’s might change 1 track per town to make it feel like it’s not just a routine.

@@djcarlo yeah of course! As zero has commented, drop mixing, doubles and slicing (idk if that’s the same thing as chopping) are techniques that are very prominent within the genre, I’m also interested in knowing where to place hot cues, how to use low/high pass filtering to help ease into another track, and how to manage energy throughout sets (going from high energy drops to slower, calmer breakdowns)
Sorry if these are quite vague, I’m a producer who’s trying to improve my beginner DJ skills within the realm of bass music. DJs like Stoned level, Excision, Kompany, Calcium, and Soltan are my inspirations so maybe watching clips of their sets might give you an idea of what I’m thinking of.

First of all, just because a song charts better than another, does not mean it's actually a better song. It is more POPULAR and that's exactly what this is about. It's not that hard to play with a mixer and press tons of buttons since the gear does the majority of the work.Just because something is a fact that some do not like does not mean it's 'hating'. Basically the DJs job is to entertain or make dancers lose their minds.I personally do not DJ with anyone because I am fast and deft enough to do the whole job by myself. I do not do more dancing than half the crowd because I generally am busy making the music talk, adding sounds, adding efx,and I do NOT mix most of my records in the same places, same style.I also choose more music that speaks for itself and does not need a lot of efx/processing,and that i can play the turntable itself..
