i get them very near the end but with no hyperventilation. because i usually do it alone im in no mood to black out. why alone you ask which is not ideal and safe? no swim buddies when im doing duathlon stuff(running 7k to the pool or biking 7k to the pool) in my group of friends i seem the only one who does this since most only had 1 sport in their life and that is basketball which i do as well.
I have been watching these videos since I like to dive in the river near my house, and I too have nobody close to me who likes to dive and is good enough to save me if I black out. On the other hand, I do not think I could ever hold my breath to the point of blacking out without first aspirating water, since my limiting factor--which appears to come well before blackout for me--is when contractions become strong enough to force me to breathe (in this video, he talks about contractions becoming strong enough for lung injury, but I can't hold my breath that hard, so I always breathe before they get that strong--which means I'd better surface before that, or else I end up coughing and sputtering!).
Even with warm ups and keeping my body still I can only get a max breath hold of 2 minutes. My contractions start are 1 minute 30 seconds. Is there any way to improve on this. I have had several sessions to try and hold my breath longer but it is always the same. Have I reached my max breath hold or can I do better?
You are a human being and therefore I have great news for you: yes, you can still improve. Unless you have like a debilitating, chronic respiratory or cardiovascular issue, you can keep going just fine. If you haven't done yet, visit a freediving course. There you will learn many physical and mental tricks to relax even further, breathe deeper and cleaner and soothe your mind.

Breath holding is quite hard for me, I cracked my back because my contractions are so strong. I’m working on getting rid of them.

I think you just have to get used to the water, often you get a bit stressed with water and then you cant hold that long
