This Startup's AI Designs Enzymes That Can Eat Plastic Waste

Landfills are overflowing with plastic trash. Serial inventor Jonathan Rothberg’s Protein Evolution found a solution: using AI to create enzymes that can recycle old polyester textiles into a material that acts new. Now the three-year-old company needs to prove that it can scale up.

My suggestion is for this plastic waste, made for furniture, pipa water for modern agricultural irrigation, disassembled dumbbells etc

I vote no for anything coming into contact with water that will be used in food production.

After hearing about the microplastics problem I started thinking I'd pay my dad to replace his plastic plumbing pipes with copper.

It's all bulls**t though.
AI didn't design those enzymes from scratch.
It had a starting point with plastic eating 'worms' that hold bacteria in their gut which produces the enzymes.
Without that starting point AI wouldn't be worth spit to solve the problem.
