The Darts were reluctant to change up a gear, so you had a high revving engine all the time, you had to really press the accelerator to get them to change up!
I drive for Stagecoach , I have been driving buses for 40 years . I have lost interest in bus driving but find your UA-cam very interesting . Keep up the good work !
Just discovered your channel. What a lovely, thoughtful, intelligent bloke. All the consideration for passengers, focus on service, etc. Anyone that has you driving them home is very fortunate. Keep up the great work!
I drove the 124 out of Catford in the late nineties, the buses were Dart Carlyles, you could really get them around through the prefab estate at Bellingham
I miss driving buses, spent a year working in London for Leaside buses, Kentish bus and Grey Green, left due to poor pay, now the pay is canny might consider going back next year when I hit my 25 years as a nurse.
You looked so tired and sleepy at the start of this video. 😴The single decker buses look like they’re fast and fun to drive. Nice getting to meet Carol and I admire your dedication to providing good customer service.
Must admit I do aim for doing the best customer service. I can’t help being that way, father taught if you gonna do a job, do it properly. He was a master Carpenter. Who did work even for Parliament which is building for our government I guess you know that .
Greetings from the US! Found your channel last week while I was in London, and love the content. Your chat about driving for the passengers surfaced a memory from years ago when I was taking a motorcoach (BoltBus, which in the Greyhound family) when the driver was shockingly rough on the throttle/brake, treating them like on-off switches while tailgating other vehicles. I always appreciate smooth & professional bus drivers!
i grew up in London, no longer live there. i find your videos super entertaining dude. I used to take the 144 in north london everyday to school! stay awesome dude. happy new year!
Interesting observation about jerky driving. When I was a young person, back in the '70s, the bus drivers were smooth regardless of traffic density. Now in my 60s and I find most buses are driven hard. Without thought for the passengers comfort, you are tired from having to brace yourself. And the walk of death trying to get to the doors while the driver is braking hard!
Is bus driving as bad as they say it is... I want to do it but im put off by bus drivers talking about the bad passenger and abusive ones and the hours
Please I have a question, I am a student and would like to be a part time bus driver while in College or Uni, is it possible the bus company will train me and accept me as part time. Thank you.
@@herbertasare8460 What I meant at least here in Bristol, First Bus have been hiring students and providing training to work as bus drivers part time due to shortage of drivers. The head of First South West has said he is okay with this and the metro mayor has been encouraging students to do so. I don't know what the situation is where you live/study though.
Depends on the route you request, most drivers do both double and single, because you can get other routes giving to you when you work on a rest day of when you swap a duty

How many years have you driven buses?
10
@@thatbusdriverguy4182 Cool. Unfortunately I had a couple of drivers who sped and braked hard, without considering passenger welfare.

Sorry late reply as Herbert said you can, I know have a lot of part time drivers. I forwarded you question to on of our mangers.
If single deckers are better than double deckers to drive then why dont all drivers try to drive single deckers. Who decides?
Depends on the route you request, most drivers do both double and single, because you can get other routes giving to you when you work on a rest day of when you swap a duty
Some ppl prefer single I prefer double deckers. We can drive any types depending on routes we choose or we have more options when working on rest day
