I dig watching your video’s but especially these types. Great commentary and educational. You fully recapped my Sansui Eight a year or so ago. Thank you! I love turning it on. I ended up getting my first DAC with wifi/bluetooth/volume control and it goes into the Sansui. Heavenly. I bet these combos will keep you busy for decades…so take some strolls on the boardwalk and enjoy this town. Cheers.

I love watching your videos because you take on some really challenging projects that others would just scrap. That corrosion around the memory battery was fortunately not that bad. I've got far worse on vintage Fluke 8200 series DMM around some niCad batteries that were factory installed in 1973. I still intend to fix that too. ❤️.

That's a nice looking receiver. Beautiful condition for its age, a credit to the owner.

I just cleaned off glue from a JVC SR-201integrated it was so caked up from the Factory. It took lots of alcohol and scraping to to remove it. I have the R-1000 changed the caps and new battery it's a good machine.

Dear sir. I have bought 2SD72 and ECG103A NPN transistors for the replacement. I am also having 2SB405 and AC128 PNP transistors. I have tested each transistors by setting the digital multimeter knob to the Diode checking position. While testing the NPN 2SD72 the base to collector and base to emitter forward biased and emitter to base collector to base reverse biased ok. Then I checked the collector to emitter which showed some reading around 220 or above like forward biasing and emitter to collector reverse biased. I thought it was a leaky transistor. The same thing occurred in ECG103A when checking it's collector to emitter leads there was some leakage readings noted. When I tested the PNP transistor, there was no forward biasing inbetween the emitter and collector and vice versa. The PNP transistors were intact because there was no abnormal biasing found. I believe that NPN transistors should be leaky. Above all the circuit amplifies the signal well but the noise or Hum was audible even at zero volume level. But the audio output had no distortion because of the matched pairs. I believe that collector to emitter leakage (presumably) causing the hum. Please suggest me and confirm the condition of the NPN transistors whether it is surely leaky or not. The Complementary symmetry amplifier circuit has been used. Thank you sir I am expecting your kind reply.

Well done as always Jordan, I appreciate this because bought a R1000 new back in the day, had a very short life probable less 5 years to my memory. You mention Hemet Calif. Damn do you live out here in So. Cal. Been looking for someone like yourself, the best Tech on You Tube as far as I am concerned. Have a SX-980 that needs a full blown re-cap.

Great work Sir! For the touchy pots Would some light silicone or nail polish work to hold their position when the customer inevitably bangs the unit around?

I have an R-1000 in my stash that needs TLC. It has to "warm up" to work, with a lot of hate and discontent from the tuner section. One of these days....

Thanks Jordan for keeping this baby alive. One thing I noticed on this unit is that the leds above the input and the power switches didn't light up. There should be a red led light bar above the power button and green leds above the input buttons? Or is that a different Yami?

Only problem I have with my Yamaha is the controls are the cheapest thing they could put in them... count on cleaning the controls and switches every 6 months ... they attract so much dust ... where as I have a Optimus receiver I purchased in the 90's... the cover has never been removed and the controls are still working great ...

Well done, the old beast is behaving itself now :-D
I was thinking clear nail varnish for track protection, your misses might have some.
STK and Sanken modules are frightning, they die without warning :-(

Believe me Pete, it's a big concern. I really need to make more time for myself. My workload has gotten so overwhelming these days. I've lost sight of how important regular exercise is.

@@JordanPier Yes, issue is present on any speakers and through headphones. I thought it was speakers at first. I will likely bring it to a local shop as I do not have a background in electronics. I bypassed the pre map so i know its the power amp for sure.
