Feeding Beef Cattle With the John Deere Model A, May 2022

During the winter I fed beef cattle (Angus and Herefords) with the John Deere 630. The 630 has a wide front and power steering, which make it a little better for snow. It also has the advantage of live hydraulics. It's also a little heavier, so it has a little more grip on the snow. However, I really enjoy using using the John Deere Model A, as they have a very unique feel and sound, which I find quite enjoyable.
Now that the snow is gone, I though it would be fun to get the A back out and feed with it again. In this video, I did just that.
As a side note, the 630 is basically the last production model A. Some call it a 1959 Model A. The A was replaced by the 60, and the 60 was replaced by the 620, and the 620 was replaced by the 630. The 30 series two-cylinder machines were the last of the Moline two-cylinder lineup. Afterwords they came out with the "New Generation of Power" line, or "New Gen" for short lineup. The New Gen line was the new 10 series lineup, which contained the popular 4010 and 3010 series (which were then replaced by the extremely popular 20 series, such as the 4020 and 3020). The 1010 was also pretty popular, but the 2010 was not so much. Anyway, there's a little bit of a history lesson for you...
The feeder is converted from an old round bale hay bagger.

There is no better sound to us old John Deere folks than that of a 2 cylinder John Deere engine barking away. I still have 2 1958 520's. I sold my 50 as I just simply did not use it. I would only use it to haul manure twice a year, so down the road it went. I friend that lives about 7 miles away bought it so I still get to see it.
I miss my old 720 diesel electric start. Great old work horse. I wish I hadn't sold it.
