I was born in 09 but I never actually had access to the internet until I was like 10-11 years old. When I was a toddler the only electronics I had was the leap frog explorer and 30 minutes of pbs kids.
I was born in 07 and I didn’t know how to use the internet until fourth grade and I also a had a leapfrog explorer and I wasn’t allowed to get a phone until I started high school two years ago.
I had a leap frog and still have it but i doesn’t work unless it’s plugged in cause well its like 10 years old
Im a 08 and i have had internet acess since like 2011-2012 and its sad seeing prettymuch the downfall of the internet
Same here
Wait bro actually just described my childhood 09 here too
I’m only 17 and I see freshman with 0 credits claiming they have “motion” bc they sell vapes
LMAOOO THIS IS SO FUNNY
So cringe omg 😬
Nah the only “motion “ they gonna have is when they drop the soap in jail

the worst part is the school aspect. I’ve always chosen paper copies instead of digital if I had the choice.
i LOVEE using paper copies, i hate digital, so i agree
I like using paper copies on tests and stuff but on essays and stuff with paragraphs of writing I HATE using paper typing is so much faster dude
@@TheHonoredOne915 agreed. I was mainly talking about math things of that nature.
The problem is that nowadays it's impossible to do lots of classes without technology. School without a device (At least for me) is just spending half the class doing nothing waiting for a paper copy of something.
I feel the same, paper feels like I've done something and I agreeeeeeee x 90231392%
i was born in 2009, it seems like most of my classmates call their friends daily, go to their friends houses weekly, but also scroll on tik tok for a bit. they dont seem too internet addicted. most people got a phone in 5th or 6th grade
WOW this is a wake-up call for parents, educators, and policymakers alike to consider the long-term implications of our digital habits and to actively work towards creating a more balanced and mindful approach to technology use, particularly for the upcoming generation.
And the call gets left on hold
Imagine if joe got a high fade with waves
that shit would be wild
he gotta do this
not much to work with
would be fire
imagine if joe did the thug shake
As an 09 kid his perspective is completely correct. I grew up with a Kindle fire tablet, ps3, Wii and old Minecraft UA-camrs. When I was bored I would play action figures and toy cars with my cousins. Now I still have a grasp on reality and as the very last year in gen z, gen alpha is cooked 😭🙏
Yep same
You can’t really say gen alpha is cooked when your a year off being one
You're basically gen alpha don't know why you're insulting your fellow toddlers
dawg who are you to insult them when you're basically one of them lmao. a year doesn't make or break a generation
There's 3 generational tribalists acting like people born after 2005-2008 are automatic gen alpha. Damn, y'all literally have someone younger and normal on your side, lol.
My goal if I become a parent later on is to have a kid who will enjoy the outdoors. It's frustrating to me how much im on screens because it feels like there's constantly nothing to do.
Same, when I stop being on some kind of screen I always feel like there’s nothing to do but go back to a screen
finding new hobbies away from screens can be the thing that will help you spend less screen time. it takes time finding new hobbies but i think you should try it out, ive been doing that for the past few weeks and i only watch youtube once in a while now
I agree with Joe, TikTok fucks your life up. I was depressed and never had any motivation and then I deleted it and other social media and became dedicated to the gym and now I’m pretty jacked and happy with my life.
I barely make the gen z cut im 14 born in 2009 and I remember life before technology. It was boring but more fun and made life more enjoyable. When people say “it doesn’t feel like Christmas” or something like that it is because of technology and not being off of it with friends and family

A few years back, when I was driving with my dad, we called my grandma (dads side) to ask what life was like in the 1920s-30s (my grandma was born in 28') and here is a transcript of what I can remember she told us.
After I was born, I lived in a box car next to the railroad for a few years down in New Braunfels, Texas. The box car had a kitchen, sleeping area, and bathroom all in one. Once I got older and the economy changed, we moved into a house and started school. I did great in school and was the valedictorian. I got married at 20 and had 2 kids. After years of realter work, my husband died and I had to move on. I married my 2nd husband (my grandfather; also dead) and adopted a few kids, whilst also having your dad around 15 years later. After everyone (9 kids i believe) grew up, I retired and stayed in New Braunfels up until now.
My father was born in 1965 and is the youngest of 9 kids. He and more than half of his adoptive and blood siblings are in the medical field. My grandmother didnt go into much detail since dementia has pretty much taken her over. She is in a nursing home right now about a 15 minute walking period from me right now. She is one of the most kind people I have ever met. The worst she has said in front of me is "damn" Which I find pretty insane since society has changed so much. We are going to move her to this really big nursing home that makes sure she will be okay with medicare and all that soon. Sadly the only memory of the beginning of her life is quickly fading and since there is no other memory of it except me, and anyone who reads this. Im sure my dad has forgotten about this experience but its okay.
*TRUE ANSWER TO ORIGINAL QUESTION*
My grandma said she would kick rocks, play with sticks, and clip this patch of grass with these tiny scissors her mom had. They were something like those small eyebrow scissors if anyone knows what i am talking about.
Anyway I have to go to this writing contest in an hour so yeah have a good day.
Joe is in the group of people I could enjoy being in a argumentive conversation with. sadly though there's plenty of people that cant even have a conversation they just state their opinions and or facts and think whatever you say is obsolete or not worth their time to hear.
Im only 15 but I remember before having a phone, picking random objects to look at and inspect while taking a shit so I didnt get bored
I’m an early Gen Alpha and “Skibidi Ohio Fanum Tax” makes no sense to me, it’s just a random mix of Mumbo jumbo words
Fr, i am an early gen alpha too and I grew up with watching Cartoon Network and Redbox movies with my family. It’s not far to be associated with the toddlers 😭
@@toasted3632 I'm early gen A aswell (13 this year) and I think it's pretty unfair to the toddlers that not even people of their own generation don't wanna be associated with them. They are the biggest victims in this case, they don't need any more hate.
@@ganpsao i get that, but I DO NOT want to be associated with "Skibidi toilet" or any of that shit. Im the first year of gen alpha and i just tell people im gen z ngl

I’m a 90’s kid and I’m so glad I don’t have social media even to this day!

wha you on youtube, you on social media, youtube is social media, wdym your not. I think your are a litle pooperston
youtube is social media
then how u watching and commenting on this video???
this is social media not trying to be mean
😭
Ok seriously after watching this video all the way through, (being born at the end of 09) this is genuinely opening my eyes to what our future is sadly going to become. Like, seriously, mental disorders will rise, more global division because nobody knows how to talk feuds out, and lots, lots more very major issues. I'm genuinely terrified of what's going to happen within the next decade.
It's not even the next decade. I'm gen z and my sister is gen alpha and we can't see eye to eye on anything
What do u expect?leave the child alone
Bro the sheer despair of the people in chat when joe said that people born in 2010 are gen alpha. 😂😂😂
I was born 09 and i think my parents did amazing raising me, up to 2022 i was only able to be on the internet/ video games for 30 minutes a day, read everyday and go outside
I never got TikTok. I will always think that is the worst thing a child could possibly get.
nah word cuz seeing that most tiktok users are 10-11 yr olds is scary
@@usecode_guestI’ve seen 6 year olds watch TikTok’s before.
Joe is so correct when it comes to interacting and having conversations with people that have much different views than yourself. Isolating yourself from the differences creates a close minded state and losing majorly important life skills. Like being able to have a mature and respectful conversation. I’m grateful that I surround myself with people who have different views as well as people who share views with me.
I distinctly remember driving to kindergarten in the car with my pink cup filled with dry cheerios and my mom putting in the Little Mermaid soundtrack CD in the car 😭 I can’t believe cars don’t have CD players in them anymore for gen Alpha
It would be cool to see Joe or someone like Joe on Survivor.
I have bad attention span, really only because of my severe anxiety, but when I see the stuff these kids do now is just kinda crazy
Bro it’s so easy to stop scrolling, just go to settings and turn off colour filters. Your screen becomes black and white but it helps since the fluorescent light of the screen keeps you on the phone.
I was born 2011 and I have never had a phone or any other device until a year ago unless you count an old flip phone they gave me to talk with them when I was at friends houses. I grew up watching most of the shows from the early to late 2000s. I can’t believe how some of the kids around me have developed. Half of the kids in my class already have Fs in the first week just cause they didn’t turn in a syllabus cause they “have better things to do” They can barely hold a conversation without trailing off to something else. Wish I was born a little sooner.
SO sorry. Gen x here. I wish you love and huggies fron soft kitties❤
I got to play outside ALL day and have kittens and skateboards and heavy metal and rap and punk and artwork and friends i found downtown. Also did mushrooms and made staight As . also became a goth. I am sorry your world is shitty kid. 😊
Also stop whining about not having a phone..........go outside and be something
But love and kitten kisses . . now. Go outside and be somebody 😎 cool.
Born in the wrong generation you say eh? You're delusional if you think this doesn't happen with every generation
Gen Alpha is genuinely cooked, imagination in childhood is EVERYTHING and these kids that are consuming media over and over. They won't be able to think critically from what it seems. And as member of the Gen Z generation, we had technology, bitch we had iPads, but it wasn't shoved in our face. The fucking races of water on windows during car rides or counting things is an example. Boredom is important in a childs life, because of the fact that when you have nothing, a young imaginative kid is still faced with so much to do just because a kid can think of so much.
You sound like every generation talking to the generation below them.
Oh when i was younger in the car i would count train carts as we passed them and i still do cause its fun.
@@lobsters12111it’s true though.
@@WilsonDaBoss06 Again, every generation says another form of the same thing. Kids these days, right?
Its literally a cycle. Our parents went through the things that we don't think are bad until we experience it ourself, and we wont want our future kids to do it. And they will be in the situation we are in TODAY. And it keeps going@@lobsters12111
I was born in 09 and my parents didnt give me a phone until I was idk 12? Back then i was mad at them for not giving me one but, looking back i am glad that i did not have as much contact with technology when i was young.

born in 08 and i grew up with less tech other than saturday cartoons, a kindle, and later like 10 or 11 i got netflix. years later towards middle school a playstation and a phone. i understand a lot thats wrong and everything said here is so right on, i have a brother born in 2012 whos gen alpha and the effects are so clear. he was born around the time i got a kindle, so when he got a little older we were getting netflix and services and very soon video games and so on, and since then his behavior is just insanely different and i do believe that these things cause possible early and easy mental illness and struggles with basic society
Cant believe joe thought people were lying with 15 while i have 13
Honestly yeah TikTok was most definitely what has ruined most of society today.
i learn more things everytime i watch a joe bartolozzi vid.
i was born in 09 but raised like i was born in 90
in like 2012 whenever I was bored I would get really scared cause I would start wondering what if someday I stay bored forever.
GEN alpha basically are just very self-absorbed people (not all of them) but majority of them are because majority of their parents give in, and just do whatever the child asks
In the end it’s just the parents fault because they have no spines and just give them an iPad and leave them alone
True, but most children are like that, gen alpha or not
@@luminary.capcut it is
Im a gen alpha but i dont do this, kinda disappointing to see gen alpha do stuff that arent necessary
I also notice gen Z being sucked into this
I was born in 09 and didn’t use any electronics til I was 10 ( besides tv ) and when I was able to use other electronics it was a shared iPad or I got to play on my dads Xbox with him
thanks for making me feel old, I was born in 87 you child!! I can remember people having pagers, the first gen where it only showed the number for you to call.
I’m currently in 8th grade and when I was in 6th grade my parents Only let me have a flip phone. Back then I hated it Becuase everyone else had all of these fancy iPhones. Now looking back on it, I’m glad they did
I remember when I was a kid I never really had any sort of technology and for some reason when I was a kid I always used to wake up really early, so since I had nothing to do I would sneak into the other room and watch King Of The Hill or George Lopez until Cartoon Network came on.
as a 2013 kid, i hate being gen alpha because back when i was 5 i was out playing with my friends until i got a phone. i still played with my friends but most of my time was watching youtube and tiktok, but when i grew up i was looking at a different prespective when i was watching tiktok and that perspective made me see how bad it was. watching tiktok in 2017 was mid but when it got to 2023-2024 brainrot was made, brain rot has many things like skibidi toilet and sigma edging ect. i just wanna say dont let kids watch skibidi toilet and different brainrot make them watch bluey or just cartoons in general
I am 14 going on 15 in summer and I had an Amazon fire by 5, but only got to use it for 30 minutes. The devices and social media are a problem, but the parents are too.
Also, when someone has a different opinion on the internet, I couldn’t care less. And on top of that, if they want to argue with me about it, I will remove myself if I don’t know enough to argue.
Props to the editor doing gods work with this video
When bro was speaking "facts" he was reading something on his phone lol
nah he's just that smart
I was born in 2010, and I love your videos, watch them full through and am 13 I love SpongeBob SquarePants in my house. We never got any fancy channels like Nick Junior or Nick Tunes. We only got BBC the British broadcasting service because our house is a very old house Victorian house made in the 1800s, you can’t go outside you That’s how old my house is you can’t really go outside because of the dangers of people being dangerous and maybe kidnapping you so I was stuck inside most of the time when you’ve got a main and also life was good but we had a farm which was my Grandma’s old Farm. Great Grandad originally I would go there every weekend loved it. The first time I got a device was a Kindle iPad, a lovely thing it was still hands up, today as a good device, I like playing with Lego like making tanks and planes. Also went to a school long way away. Only about 50 odd people, but times were simpler then, but now I must cope with people begging me to download TikTok, but I refuse since I do not want the devils app on my phone only 13
Thank you for opening my eyes Joe, I've been watching your youtube videos and I've been scrolling on tiktok less
I remember the time I didn’t know iPad’s existed, I used to be in a bike gang with my friends, biking around, buying ice cream, coming home during sunset
2012 is the last year of gen z
I was born in ‘04, I grew up with hotwheels and gi joe and stuff like that. I didn’t get any actual tech until 2012 when I got an Xbox 360. But my younger brother… he got an iPad when he was THREE YEARS OLD. He’s a complete demon spawn after being desensitized by cocomelon and skibbidy toilet. He acts like a drug addict when his iPad dies, and boy… if you take it away, he starts breaking shit and screaming. My best choice was to move out in late 2023. I genuinely do not want to see my brother until he finally matures.

I loved this vid, it was so true and as a high schooler who goes to Socratic seminar classes for two hours a day I completely agree that it is essential to learn how to constructively argue with others so that everyone can come to a consensus. Instead of everyone holding their own opinions stubbornly, we really discuss and have open minds, and admit when we were wrong and can see the truth that way. Opinions are not knowledge, knowledge is true, opinions are not always true.
I was born 2006, i played with grass clibbins, but i thought i was a farmer bailing hay at 10. Good times good times
Even though there wasn’t really a moment where I didn’t have technology, I still didn’t really use it when I was young and just played with toys or played out with the neighborhood kids outside.
I’m 15 and my mother would never let me spend more than 1-2 hours on electronics aka my kindle fire a day when I was younger the problem with now is the outside world is viewed as a secondary option to live life with the first option being the virtual world and that’s what I believe the problem is.

Got my first phone at 8th grade (13 y/o) and it's a keypad phone. The only thing I got interested in it was its capacity to hold music, photos and videos. Never used it to text at all. I would say that my general hobbies started with my first phone: drawing anime from whatever the internet could provide at that time and learning how to play the songs I like on guitar (no UA-cam tutorials, just by ear).
I didn't even have my first Facebook account until 16 when I finally got a smart phone.
