  • In today's solo episode, I'm sharing a recap of my experience running the California International Marathon. I take you through how I prepared to achieve a PR of 2:39, in the days and moments leading up to the starting line. You will hear everything from how I fueled before and during the race to the course conditions and what was going through my head that ultimately led to an important epiphany. Enjoy!

    Hope you read this but you prob won’t. I’m a 70 year old Army veteran. (Viet Nam era)
    My great little victory was passing you the last mile in Bataan Death March Memorial. I called out your name not knowing for sure if it was you bc I going by the ruck sack you had. Military copy. You said yea, I said: love your videos man! You said thanks! You were walking with the waist strap undone. I was running in my issue Alice Pack with my unit patches of both my brother and I . (We both served my brother passed away)
    Anyway, You are an inspiration. I finally embarked on the MAF to train. I’m following your instruction and very inspired. I’m not going to pass you again but what a great little victory. Never give up! Go one more brother!
    Proud of your dedication to the process.
    BTW as you know Bataan doesn’t give out medals unless you place in your age. I got a medal in the mail for first in age. My most prized!
    Congratulations again! Wow!

    I also find that trough the experience of your own journey, you share alot of valuable insights on certain aspects of life.

    Just let you know that there so so many runners ( including me) who have been testing to get their PR for so long time. 5 years is nothing compared to those people. We all know what you are talking about. Unsuccessful years and aging, that what you have not encountered yet.
    Congratulations on your PR🎉

    Hey Nick love everything that you’re doing. It’s amazing how far you’ve come since the 4:00 hour marathon. It would be really nice if you recapped at a high level of how you were able to improve your fitness / overall training blocks since that 4 hour marathon that allows you to get to sub 2:40. I’m very interested in your base building strategy over the years and what KPIs you hit to hit to get to the next level in training blocks

    Impossible with his weight to make 02h39 without PED...All the runners that I know who make this time weight above 60-65kg and run a lot (120-130 km per week)...So, when you're not natural, you should say what you take and not be a liar...

      Even if he is, the amount of hard work and discipline he demonstrates is insane. PEDs wont give you his dedication, mental toughness, and rigorous training.

    • @koryjensen8610
      @koryjensen8610 6 місяців тому +15

      @@LuisGonzalezRGGhis dedication is solid. But y'all act like his work ethic is uncommon. It's actually very very common in endurance sports. People who take endurance sports seriously are borderline excercise addicts. Most of my tri team works just as hard if not harder all while working normal jobs. Testosterone is a massive advantage in recovery. Recovery is the name of the game in endurance sports...

      @@LuisGonzalezRGG- If that’s the case, why not just don’t do drugs? His entire brand is built on his supplements providing results for performance. If he wasn’t peddling snake oil for millions of dollars, followers, and accolades, it might be ok. But he’s lying to people saying maltodextrin and salt with a little hard work is going to produce a 2:39 marathon. If only you had his dedication, you could do it. It’s all BS
