1. They have to close the alpine pod because there is no way out of there or any way to traverse to any other base areas and the ride up alpine is 12 minutes. They close it that early because ski patrol has to do their sweeps and they don’t want to have to pick up patrollers every single day at the bottom and drive them back to a main village just to keep the least busy lift at copper open for 25 more minutes. 2. The reason that the super pipe and the jumps in central park are all made out of snow is not because they are wasteful it’s actually the exact opposite. Those jumps serve as snow banks for the summer parks that copper runs into late august. They have people skiing all through the summer and selling summer camp passes for the summer parks especially the glacier which Is where Central Park sits now. If copper didnt have large line or the super pipe there would be no summer skiing and I’d argue summer skiing only expands the sport and the Woodward brand and provided high dollar summer camp revenue. Super good business model tbh.
I didn’t even know Presidents’ Day weekend was one of the busiest of the year until I watched one of your videos. And of course that’s when I booked to be at Copper 😅. Thankfully though because of you I booked my condo another night so I could drive out before the heard.
Went to copper for my first trip out west as a snowboarder over MLK day. Surpisingly no lines, maybe due to the cold, and I couldn't find any chutes on the spaulding bowl. the one other thing you missed is how flat some sections of copper are. I had to unstrap a good 10 times a day either fully or only one foot just to get some momentum going.
Good stuff, although I have to say the busses always seem quick and efficient to me. Also, the lines on Sat’s aren’t usually as bad as Vail. Lastly, I’ve often found some fresh lines days after a snow on the backside (weekdays).
it used to not all be true, but the last 15 to 20 years it has gone down hill really fast. it used to be a laid back place but has since been commercialized and ruined.
From my photog friend who works at LPA, its an employee hierarchal disaster. Supervisors who dont know anything to name one. Theres a lot of a internal dysfunction.
Wait, it is rare for lifts to be sponsored in North America? It seems every resort down under here has one or two sponsored lifts (Cruiser, Freelander, Forester, Interceptor, Audi Quattro, Holden, Mercedes Benz, Billia Bullet, Emirates)
Yep! I frequently see it empty. Just like the terrain park on Scooter. The pipe usually takes up 1/3 of Main Vein. It looks wider this year taking up 1/2 of the run. PLUS all the snow making capacity they use up building this monster.
@ Breck is windy, icy and it has so many cat trails that you never quite feel like you got to where you wanted to be. Getting around the mountain is hard. A lot of bro brah attitude, crowded, not the same skier vibe as Copper. Breck is all Vailed up.
It opens before Christmas but it's still annoying. I know Copper gets $$ and PR as "The Athletes Mountain" but it's makes the rest of the mountain crowded in the early season.

Having skied at Copper for the last 30 years, this is 100% accurate.

Im leaving for Copper tomorrow, thanks for the great timing!
😂😭
this guy really hates anyone who has touched a box damn bro
Boxes hate my hips 😂
Pretty funny. I skied Copper today and the icy death zones were exactly where you said 😂
You are so right about the ice

Yeah, it's rarer here
Solid work. Hit on lots of Copper’s finest issues. My favorite Summit area too.
So true, hate Copper
The pipe is built there solely to accentuate the audience's view, for the handful of days when they actually host a competition.

Wow. And awakening re Copper.
Woodward is sick tho
Copper blows Breck OUT OF THE WATER
What makes you say that?

Ah, fair enough 😂
U went right over my head you sarcastic SOB, lol
I love Copper Man (:
Woowdard isnt a subcontractor, the entire brand is owned by Powdr... As is copper Mountain.
Ah, even worse 😂
you forget to mention that the terrain over by Super Bee is closed to the public until January so ski teams can train there!
True!
It opens before Christmas but it's still annoying. I know Copper gets $$ and PR as "The Athletes Mountain" but it's makes the rest of the mountain crowded in the early season.
Yea, that's one of the reasons it's so icy...
better than skiing in ohio lmfao
True lol
