In future please ask balanced questions so that you can be able find out the root cause of the problem that will ultimately help everyone to arrive at the solution. As much as i enjoyed it, to me it felt like you already had pre conceived ideas about Nigerians suffering at the behest of all SA citizens that are very xenophobic. That's a wrong approach. There is always two sides to a story and one gospel truth. What i loved about "Zulu" is that as allegedly bad SA is he still wont go nowhere, and that's what all local Nigerians are doing as well bcos if they really suffered they would have all gone back home or other better countries than SA. So that goes to show that SA is a better place for everyone to live in irrespective of your background. It all depends on what your intentions are for coming here and how you behave while you are here. But because the country is mismanaged, its people are scattered all over the world. Imagine if they were to stay home and build the country. That country would be a superpower. What does he mean when he says South Africa is too western? I mean Nigeria is building Eco Atlantic which looks western in design. So can anyone define what he means. Because our government invests alot in infrastructure to try and catch up with the world since we got our freedom 26 years ago whereby 90% blacks were poor, 60% were uneducated because of being excluded by apartheid. So our government is trying to correct those things. As a Nigerian i felt discontent with this! We have to ask ourselves when we immigrate, why do we immigrate? I noticed he never mentioned why he left Nigeria? interesting. There is this illusion that foreign is better in most african countries You going to southafrica where the economy or at the very least 70% is controlled by whites right? a 345 billion dollar economy. Yet you are coming from another though "underdeveloped" is valued at close to 500 billion dollars The questions we should be asking ourselves is what are my prospects not just as a black individual but as a 'foreign" black in a country where there are few black owned banks, refineries, malls, manufacturing car plants, steel plants etc? basically few opportunities for blacks especially, whats the upward mobility in terms of corporate jobs, loans for business, education etc etc it isn't enough to just like the nice roads, nice buildings and infrastructure, because one might find themselves only as spectator as those weren't built for blacks in the first place. The southafrican society is very complex, and the more i look into it, the more i understand why the xenophobic and negative attitude towards foreign blacks. The issue really is that the resources for the average black southafrican is also limited, they control only about 30% which isn't suitable for a country as developed and their population Lets start asking question, and looking at our leverage potential. *Scarcity of resources is one of the reasons people regardless of race or color fight each other, with more migration to SA, legal or illegal, that opportunity dwindles for the average nonwhite*
I think he has mainly been in Johannesburg (our New York 😊) so that's why he thinks we're a bit Westernised. I challenge that he visits the smaller cities and rural Black areas if he wants to experience the Africanness of South Africa. Rural areas are where our traditions are still kept. Our African value systems etc. Throughout the year we hold traditional events and ceremonies where the whole village visit. It's compulsory for every member of the family to leave the big cities and travel home to attend and partake. Most of these traditional practices are done in December while wearing traditional attire and ancestors would be called to bless the event. That period is best as everyone has gone home for holidays. Its true, however, that most of our culture and traditions are modernised. It is because of contact with the West and that happens everywhere. Cultures exist among others and therefore influence each other. South Africans are probably the most exposed to Africa/West culture continuum where you have real Africa on the far left and West on the far right and everything in-between.
