    I have seen tons of videos on this using a external power bank. I am surprised that you have not experienced heating issues w your camera leaving the batery in and bascially charging all the time. I have experimented with my GP7. It overheats leaving the battery in the camera and will shut down. When I take it out, no problems.
    Thanks for the video.

    Nice setup man.
    I use a similar chest rig set up to film my dog tracking deer. There is a company called 3BR power sports that makes a housing with a water prof door/USB cable combination that works really well. Some of our deer recovery is done at night so i looked and looked for a light that is good for video and that will reach out further than the normal video lights that i could mount on my chest rig. The Nitecore HU60 is small 1300 lumen head lamp that is powered strictly from a USB power bank. I use a 20000mHh power bank with two USB charge ports that run both the Hero 8 and the light. I have the power bank in pouch that clips to my belt. The rig works really well.

      I would have loved if it managed to be waterproof (IP66 or IP67), and not just protected against rain and splashes (IP65). Since I do kayak fishing in the open sea, it would have been an excellent solution for me.

      Hey can you send me the link to the pouch for your belt your talking about. Your powerbank sounds like mine but I keep having connection issues. Iv kept It in my back pocket and their seems to be issues with my connection. I kept it in my back pocket and sat down on it a few times and I guess it damaged the port although me sitting on it was not all the sever or put much pressure on anything. I bought a new one and sat down on the bass boat and forgot to remove it from my pocket and those connection issues are happening again.

    • @CajunStyleCrappie
      @CajunStyleCrappie 25 днів тому

      @@BassmasterTL The pouch had used was just an old hunting belt with some pouches on it. I had the same problem with the usb connections staying put. I ended up finding some short usb exstension cables that had a 90 degree plug on one end that I plugged into the power bank. I used a velcro strap that I wrapped around the power bank and extension cables that held everything in place. That worked well.
      Now I am using the Nitecore power bank that has the clip on it that clamps to the usb connector from the Nitecore headlight. That works great. I still use the 90 degree usb cable for the usb cable from the camera.

    Here’s some food for thought, try using play-Doh clay and push it in and around the hole of the new door that you installed for the power cables. You can also stuff it around the usb jack of the battery, and here’s on more tips. You can daisy chain the batteries. You can run a usb cable from one battery to the other. . Instead of using zip-ties, try Velcro, or even better, to keep to heat away for your GoPros , zip-tie the battery/ batteries to your chest harness, one of each side so that the Weight is even on the harness. I know if would kick my OCD in big time. Lol. And as for the cables, you can cut some very small slices into the harness ( them use some heat to melt any stray threads and to make the size hardened ) that way the holes will not get any larger. This way you can run a longer cable from one battery to to next and then to the gopro. More batteries, more running time and less heat from the batteries , as the batteries charge the gopro , and now you will have less of a load on them as well

    • @NickeeGee
      @NickeeGee  2 роки тому +1

      Those are all awesome ideas! I definitely think the Velcro is an upgrade I'll do soon to make it easy to just stick on and off!

      the hole ain't the only way water will get in, gopro doors use a rubber padding on the inner side to seal it shut from water, that ulanzi door doesn't have the correct padding so water will enter from every seam you see.

    I see one issue. When I start record on my go pro with additional power bank if there is battery on go pro, camera is charging from power bank but working on factory battery. It's different when I switch on go pro, add cable from power bank and remove battery. Then camera work on my power bank only. In first scenario it happen that my battery died even when she was charged by power bank and I lost precious record.

However if i remove the battery and run it directly via powerbank or external supply, i'm not having nearly the same issues as it mostly the battery generating heat. I do kayak fishing in the open sea and I liked your idea to do it on the boom stick of my camera. Unfortunately I am at risk of tipping over or a wave hitting the camera and that is what made me hesitate to use your option. I'm thinking about how I could better seal the power cord entry so it's easy to put on and take off each time it's used. I think that would finish solving my problem.
    Just to share my experience. I heard about the 3BR case a long time ago and was excited by the idea of finally having waterproof power from a power bank. Unfortunately when I contacted the brand they told me that it only protects against rain and light splashes (IP65 rating), but not if hit by a wave, and it costs more than $60usd. That makes me lean more towards your option, I just have to find a simple way to seal it with some material that I can remove after each use.
    If you've come up with a way to fix it, I'd love to hear it.
    Tight lines!

      @NickeeGee  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the awesome reply! I'm not sure exactly which camera you're using but I know GoPro came out recently with a cord that offers some added water protection..the other thing I've seen people do is use some plyable silicone to form a watertight seal. Either way there's not a 100% way for it to be waterproof which stinks. You'd think they would have come up with something by now...

This way I can catch every angle. I can swivel it to the right if I'm fishing the starboard side or turn it left if fishing the port side.
