    The R9T was a stroke of genius. The factory retros are cool, and customizers are doing some bad ass builds with it. Love the vids as always.

    If I ever cut that corner to the dealership I'm 100% certain a car or truck would be coming the other way, just my luck! Great review, awesome looking bike! BMW is certainly on a roll.

    Great vids! Keep them coming. I enjoy your honesty and the simple fact that you're getting to ride all of these bikes that I'd love to own. I don't have a dealer near me that'd let me ride the BMW's you ride, so you're my outlet to see them in action. I did own a 09' BMW R1200GSA, great bike. My son and I sat on all of these at a recent Progressive Motorcycle show in Cleveland. The R9T Cafe Racer was our favorite! What a sweet bike.

    Just sitting on the bike i thought it forced me to reach too much for the grips. Felt like I'd have to be in a full crouch the whole ride....and I ride an S1000RR.....but the nicest looking bike i've seen in a looooong time!

    • @calmoto9073
      @calmoto9073  7 років тому +1

      I would never say that about lawyers;). I do need them from time to time; that said, BMW's attorneys are shysters and I'm thinking about having my boots wrapped with cease and desist letters. In your expert opinion, will that draw more C & D letters from the mighty motor works leviathan in an effort to protect their grand brand from a social media monster like myself:)?

    • @axellevp7544
      @axellevp7544 7 років тому +6

      Oh, I would love to see that! Best use of huff and puff C&D letters I have heard. That leviathan, while imposing, is not as dangerous as you may think; or it wouldn't be intimidated by your honest reviews. Now should you receive a Summons and Complaint, you call me, and we'll play with them.

    Saw this at the dealer today! Holy $h!t. Pics and vids don't do cafe racers justice. This thing is bad to the bone! The mirrors and tail tiddy would be the only thing to change. I wouldn't mind a mini muffler to show off the epic single side swing arm (other side rather).

Riding 25 years and took me 20yrs to work up to BMW status. People if your reading my post, BMW's have saved my ass in NYC countless times with the technology matched to my skills. Would not ride anything else. Lol well maybe that old thing called the Ducati 959 Panigale........just saying.

    I can't believe people say the BMW R9T is a better bike than the Triumph Thruxton 1200R. I've ridden both. Neither are stellar in performance but they both have enough to give you bone. The R9T feels pregnant, whereas the Thruxton R feels very thin. Maybe too thin. I guess it just depends on what you're into, but for my money, the Thrux 12R is absolutely gorgeous, has good power, and is enough to make you cream your jeans just a tiny bit. Oh well, I'll stick with my Speed Triple R anyhoo

      I really don't. I'm not after gifts or attaboys, even though it would be nice. My bosses are way too good to me for me to engage in a petty battle with petty people. I sell a ton of BMWs and I do it for dealership, not for BMW. I can afford to buy anything I want, and usually isn't BMW gear;

  • @Traumatix685
    @Traumatix685 6 років тому

    Really admire your videos; great to be a proud Bay Area individual! Anyways, I would like to ask if someone like me (30 and 5'6) that's starting out on motorcycles if this bike R Nine T Racer, or if the Ducati Scrambler cafe racer (or even the Harley Roadster if I could only choose one bike as an all arounder bike, but worried if the 600 lbs weight would be too much for me and for my height) would be a much better starter bike that can last me for at least a year, and then trade for a BMW R Nine T Racer? thnks!

    • @calmoto9073
      @calmoto9073  6 років тому

      I have several questions for you. Are you male or female; sorry, but it may be relevant at this point of your Moto development? What are you currently riding? How long have you been riding? Do you ride dirt bikes? Have you dropped or crashed your bike yet? As far as the better all around machine, I go with the original R9T. At 5'6, you might be very laid out on the Racer. I would like to talk to you; can you call me at 925.583.3333? And, thank you for the compliments😁. Call me.

    • @Traumatix685
      @Traumatix685 6 років тому

      THanks for the offer; I'll just lay out all of my answers as It's been a long time since I had lived in the bay area (used to live in Pleasanton, where was the video taken place, Livermore?) but now am based in Orange County, CA. I"m a 30 year old male, haven't ridden, never a dirt bike, I've owned a 200hp car with a 6 spd manual since I was 16 years old (so I'm pretty responsible, vs some of the spoiled kids out in the Bay Area). Otherwise, I'm just simply looking which out of those three bikes would be the best starter bike if you had to choose one (or choose one cafe racer type, and the other HD Roadster be more of an everyday "Monday bike" once when I would have the confidence and skill to handle a 600 lbs bike). Thanks!

    • @calmoto9073
      @calmoto9073  6 років тому

      None of them; why only those three? You should just pick the one you like best and go for it. I like the Racer best; it's simply bad ass and easy to ride. What you should buy is a sv650, or a cb500, maybe a Bonneville 900.

    I would buy a BMW R NINE T in a second except for their owners reliability report i.e. BMW reliability is near the bottom with 40% complaints in 3 years of ownership.
    Compared to the competition, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda are the best for reliability.
    Full discloser: I have owned three (3) BMWs.

    • @MeeJunksEavy
      @MeeJunksEavy 7 років тому

      sweetcostarica honest question: if reliability was such an important aspect for your purchase, why'd you buy 3 BMWs before? Seems contradictory. The R9T is a modern, no frills machine. Can't see much failing on it. Warranty is a wonderful thing also.
      So I suggest you follow your 1 second instincts and buy a nice and reliable Japanese bike and be merry. Leave the unreliable, amazingly fun and soulful Euro machines to us dolts.
