Great review! I'm a ginger fella and long distance runner with a massive dome and an orange Raptor seems like it may be just the ticket!

Yeah, I'm try to figure out the best model for me, do you notice the Landhawk being cooler in the summer? Do you wear one more than the other?

@@chrisflamion2283 Great question! I seem to wear my Raptor hat the most in the summer. The shape of my head fits better in that hat and the stash pocket is on the front and allows for better heat loss and evaporation. I wear my boonie style hats in the winter as the pocket is on top and keeps me slightly warmer. That being said, the landhawk has a similar venting system in a boonie style and no stash pocket at all, so would wear the landhawk more in the summer

I have a Columbia Bora Bora hat, about the sane thing. It's brim isn't as stiff. What you do when it rains is to tighten down on the chin strap. It curves the sides, stiffen up the brim in front. It can take a lot of rain.
A problem with the Bora Bora, it's very lightweight, I can forget I'm wearing it, a breeze can send it flying, which can be a major problem with stiffer brims, I have to use the chin strap a lot.
The Bora Bora is well ventilated.
One reason you might want a stiffer brim, reinforcement, is for bugs. You can use a bug net on them easier than a softer brim, which can't support the weight as easy.

Hey Buz! I have the exact same hairline and same concerns….have had skin cancer removed from my temple twice. So sun protection is hugely important to me. I have seen Shelta ads on Facebook and always wondered about them, it’s great to hear a personal recommendation. I literally wear neck gaiters pulled down over the top half of my head, then a cap, then another gaiter pulled up to cover the bottom half of my face (I hate the greasy feeling of sunscreen). I will take a look at their website, might be something I can give my wife an idea for Father’s Day or birthday. Thanks for the review!!

Do you have a video where you show the fit of each hat from the front and side? The specs are easily researched, but real world people, of various head sizes, modeling the looks is much more elusive.

Sorry Mike, I don’t have one. The Shelta website has a dealer locator so you can try them personally.
