I was present at this concert with an 8mm camera. I wish at the time I had purchased more camera roll, but I guarantee you that you won't see any better quality video than this and in colour of the legend.

From 4:14 to 4:21 the way Rafi Saab is saying Mera Mehboob Ayaa Hai, there is something seriously heavenly taking place here. I would say just listen to this line again and again and the way Rafi Saab is saying it, especially the word Ayaa, it’s out of this world, it’s just unbelievable omg.

No other singer had the versatility and an exceptional ability to sing with the depth of emotions as did Rafi Saheb. He sang with equal ease geets and gazals, bhajans and qawwals, and romantic songs or a sad song with cry of a broken heart. The words came straight from his heart and reached ours. He also had an uncanny ability to sing perfectly for the hero for whom he was giving the play back. You close your eyes and still know whether the song is picturized on Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand or Johnny Walker. Each of these actors had distinctly different styles and Rafi Saheb rendered the number to suit the star. With the modulation of his voice he would deliver a "tailor-made" song for each of them, and not a "one size fits all."

I was in Mumbai from 1975 to 80 , I wanted to see Rafi sahab , for that I attended film premiers , I saw many film personalities , but not fortunate to find a glimpse of Rafi Sahab , indeed he was the best singer in the whole universe.

This concert was in the Autumn of 1979. Rafi Saab's previous tour to the UK was in the Autumn of 1977, where I saw him at the Royal Albert Hall, also in London. On this occasion I missed the last train back and had to wait at Liverpool Street Station for the first morning train back to Essex University. I consider myself fortunate that I managed to see him live on these two occasions in my lifetime.
