Looks a sweet little build!
I agree :)
They really need to change the cement tubes in these starter kits.
The tubes of the Revell Starter Kits are so much better.
Don’t forget the Land Rover WMIK they released as well as the snatch ..
Glad to see it, pity it’s not 1/24 though.
i guess that scale has been covered by othe manufacturers
@@MOS6510Models never as a series 1
'So excited for this.
My preorder is in.
Thanks for this video.
This is the first I have heard of it.
I even like that beige- greeny--grey colour scheme.
Although I might do it in the WW2 LRDG's Pink Panther scheme.
ATM, I am building and painting my 2 NEW Bolt Action armies: 8th Army and DAK and building desert terrain and scatter. So I am really into Desert schemes and dioramas/ scenes/ displays ATM.
let me know how you get on building it
Looks pretty good - this is a long wheelbase version with a half cab. I've been pausing your video to check how I could modify it! 😅
If you have a book on L-R special vehicles, the problem is not how to modify it, but how many kits do you need to buy to cover the options? 😆
looking forward to your build
@@threepot900 I don't have a book but I do work at the British Motor museum so I am literally surrounded by Land Rover Special Vehicles at times!
@@BOABModels lucky boy, wish I had an interesting job like that!
Looks like a well detailed kit like the 43rd scale E-Type released earlier in the year. Would love to see these earlier civilian Land Rovers in a bigger scale, like 24th or 32nd.
That would be cool!
Nicely detailed kit, hope to see more versions released. Cheers MOS.
i hope there is :)
Like the look of this. A bit small but looks perfectly formed. I wonder how many people will rust the body shell? Plenty of scope for rot in the chassis though. Nice unboxing.
thank you
And don’t forget the front bulkhead, where it bolts to the outriggers, and along the bottom of the screen. You can get a nice combination of rust and moss there! 😄
Interesting parts layout. Multi-part bodies are not common in 1/43 kits. This will make it easier to paint the roof in a separate color, or for multicolor liveries (by the way, I'm hoping this kit will be released in AA/RAC/Police/British Rail liveries in the near future).
Not happy about the wheels, however. I'd rather have four tires and four separate rims instead of eight wheel halves. Again, makes painting easier.
Oh, and minor gripe with the decals: like their colleagues at Corgi, Airfix used the narrower 21st century numberplate font. For those of us who remember the Ancient Times (a.k.a. the Nineties), british plate fonts were wider before 2001.
that is a good observation with the number plates
Thanks
thank you for your donation my friend
Nice looking kit, good basis for other versions with minimal changes
It sure is
Very tempted by this one as my mojo has wandered off and gotten lost😢.
Thanks for the review Mos.
Any time!
Looks a good kit mos, thanks for the review
No problem 👍
got mine :) Probably be a while before it gets out the box lol
Push it to the top lol
One thing i noticed was no tow hook. As it was mostly seen on farms or forestry companies. It would be nice if they had this as a starter and add accessories kits like a selection of trailers and tools to build up an interesting Diorama. Thanks you for the detailed look. It will be another kit to buy
Great point! i guess its all about cost
This may appear twice, I was half way through typing and it disappeared into the electronic ether……
I like the way you are thinking. In real life there was a PTO on the back of the transfer box to run equipment like mowers and circular saws. That’s what the hole in the rear cross member was for. There was also the option for one on the front to run a mechanical winch. This would really need a 1/24 (or please, please, please, a 1/12 scale) kit to make it detailed enough.
I suppose you could use a dremel circular saw blade and scratch build a saw attachment in 1/43 from some plastic card and angle. I think my build has just got more complicated !
its a nice build i wish they made the sprues better lost a part which was not in bag and number of parts broken off for a new mould thats a bit poo if u ask me hopefully get spare off airfix
lucky the bit was not there was one side of a wheel so its a 3 wheeled land rover at the mo :)
Pretty cool kit
Very detailed review and once again very useful. Will definitely look into buying this one.
Glad it was helpful!
Looking like a good model 👌
I think so too!
Looks lovely.... an odd scale again in this day and age; I mistakenly thought it was 1/48! 👀
Never mind... And interesting to see Airfix mimicking the vintage kits with that form of sprue -tree design!! 😆
Fantastic detail on the parts though! 👍
1/43 has been a staple for a lot of models in this genre.. also made a price point so not overly expensive to get into the hobby
1/43 scale is "0" gauge in model railway. Terminology
@@paulnicoll7431 : Did anyone comment otherwise?
Cool model.
Sure is!
Great video.. ordered mine
Hope you enjoy it!
Very cool kit Mos
thank sam
Excellent vid!
thank you. :)
Commented , because skynet has become self aware
ha
1/43 though........
Is it definitely a new Airfix tooling Mos? Sprues look very Academy style seeing they’ve done some of the armour kits in recent times? 🤔
academy is korea.. this says india and uk
hi there hornby/airfix have modeled this L/rover on a preserved one hence the stupid colour scheme on the box also on production they were never fitted with free wheeling hubs as shown on the box. my uncle had one from new in 1959 in green,
The “stupid colour scheme” is that of the original 1954 model. If you want to do the 55/56 model, paint the chassis black, and you have the options ;of blue, red and beige for the body. - blue was also an option in 1954.
For the FWH, they were an option at the time, and a sensible mod that could be retrofitted any time, but those on the box are contemporary MAP units.
It’s copied from the original Land Rover which is in the dunsfold collection .the colour is an original colour from Land Rover and the grey pick ups had blue chassis..
Have just received my kit and look forward to building it soon. Another r3view has pointed out that there is no exhaust pipe in the kit so I think that I'll have to add one. Best wishes.
