Yes, you would need to secure the awning to the structural framework of the RV. From the installation instructions... "Find a solid structure in RV wall for support of top mounting brackets and back channels (all mounting points)."
I would like to know how to retract the awning with no power. I have read the manual but it is a bit confusing. I would use the strap method if I need to.
If you have a 9100 series (the one from this video), the right hand motor side and left hand spring side can both be replaced, however, the metal caps are not available on their own and you would need to purchase the complete motor and torsion spring. If you have a 9200 series (would be plastic covers, not metal), those are replaceable on their own.
Don’t you love when a manufacturer provides a crappy owners manual and then makes a video that tells how to do the obvious things a child could figure out but refers you to the owners manual for the things that you, and intelligent adult, are a bit unclear about after reading the owners manual?
Why don't you sell the replacement gas springs for this awning. Its impossible to find them.
I need to know how to adjust the Dometic door awning that does not have limit switches. Please maje a video on that.

do you need to locate and drill into studs to mount this thing?

did you ever figure it out?
@@donaldfafard Yes I did. It's a 2 person job, 1 to hold the strap and 1 to loosen a couple screws on the motor.
How did you roll it back in?
@@acforhim1 it is a tension coil. Once you start rolling it in by hand the person holding the strap keeps tension on it so it doesn't go too fast.
@@brentdreamer2025 Thank you! So, do I have to take those two screws out every time and then put them back in to travel?
What are the indicators that the gas shocks need replacing.
Do you sell both the left and right top castings? both of them snapped off on the freeway, but the motor still in good shape.

Can u let the awning out on the battery
Hi Joseph, the awning is a 12VDC product, so yes the battery power will allow the awning to extend out.

Yes this video was worthless. They should have done a video on the stuff my five year old can't do herself.
Dogmatic awnings suck
