Matt said in an interview one time that they partied the night before and he woke up with no voice at all. He was surprised that he could even do what he did during this show. That's why he wasn't screaming cause his voice was gone before it even started lol. So glad he has fixed his voice and has become more healthy as a vocalist. @@mementometallum571 i liked ascendancy most acutally, but every album of them is great. I dont think which "era" of them is their best so far, each had its highlights

Vengeance and unrepentant hit hard for me and are among my Favorites in the guys catalog. But the heafy hetfield era as I called it was pretty decent I’d say yet criticized and his screaming just hit so different and this was such a major switch. I’ve heard friends say on the sin and the sentence trivium finally found their sound. I don’t think that imo. I think they had the right stuff and sounded like trivium in ember to inferno and ascendancy and then tried to hard to find there sound and did the whole thrash mixed with metalcore on the crusade and then shogun and then went drastic again with in waves onward. The sin and the sentence , what the dead man say and in the court Of the dragon has the earlier elements somewhat of old trivium along with the modern sound. I jsut saw these guys in Greensboro last month and, as always, they put on an insane show. They played pull harder as their encore at that concert too, and it was... awesome. Cant wait to see em live again

@@tripxez8478 No it's not. Their best sound live was the In Waves era. Shogun, In Waves and Ascendancy are their 3 best sounding records. All are quite good though, but by far, live is the In Waves tour.

@TraviSixShot thats pretty good man :) ive seen AC/DC, Metallica, Lamb of God twice, High on fire, shadows fall, devildriver, anthrax, ISIS, Trivium, faith no more, gallows, anvil and baroness twice :)
hes screaming/singing fully now. He doesn't do it for every part. But still more so than he did on Ascendancy and more singing than the crusade, as he stated in many interviews. Corey's there for the backing/ parts that Matt doesn't do, notice on any live video. Corey will scream with Matt just incase he stops. So yeah :)
@843andrew Well, its screaming. It affects your vocal chords eventually, and during this period is when it struck him. It happens to a lot of vocalist, but he got over it. Thats why he screams live again now, and also why the screams in acendancy are different to the ones in Shogun, and Shattering the skies above.
@Mickey Winters sure, phone cameras existed back then, but you may as well have tried to film it on a potato instead lol there would have been about 5 pixels moving around and horrendous audio
@@revivedfears Except he really wasn't trying to sound like Metallica. He sounds literally nothing like Hetfield. The music went to thrash, so that part "sounded like" Metallica. But nothing about his vocals was an imitation of Hetfield.
Chad M Matt heafy was really inspired by Metallica. That’s probably why he started using the graspy kind of James hetfield type of singing. I fucking love it his voice sounds so good in this one
I read an interview just before The Crusade came out where Matt himself said he ALWAYS wanted to sing like this - but in earlier albums he didn't feel his singing was good enough - so he screamed instead - I think the intention was to change permanently to singing - but then he changed his mind - I guess because he realised that the music Trivium write sounds better with the screaming.
The infamous Hetfield era!
I loved it.
