Ok so I’m Mexican and I go to Mexico often and when you guys saw the red light before like the speed bumps you are supposed to stop until you see it becomes green and they would of probably not have stoped you
Knowing that they had no registration, and instead of doing it another day, they still go ahead and jeopardize their friend's car. They were lucky but who in their right mind decides to go through this?! It's just common sense!

English is considered the international business language used almost everywhere, there was probably at least one person at border patrol that knew English.

filming at border crossings is frowned upon especially if your so obvious with roof mounted cameras in plain sight. Drug mules and other criminal elements use footage to plan border crossings and use the surveillance footage in an attempt to corrupt boarder officers. Well you can obviously see and understand their concern

$1.45 USD was the toll charge and the Mexican border patrol officer got close to 1000 pesos. It was a great day for him. Probably took himself and family out to eat and drink 🍻👏🏼

Just seeing this. Ive been passing through Colombia crossing since i can remember. Im 36 now. Exactly 2 years ago, when this video was made, the Mexican side got super corrupted at that crossing. Just recently they got checked cause of the way the officials were behaving. They'll find any reason to give you a hard time with the hopes that you offer them money/a bribe to let you on your way. I got returned 6 times in a row at that crossing, drove over to laredo entry point and no problems there. Now Colombia Crossing is back to normal, for the time being. They would claim a bunch of B.S. at that time, i could make a whole video about it, but that would make me a target.
There are apps that can help live translation, like Google translate. You would think these guys would be using these things to make conversations seamlessly

Next time you go to Mexico, make sure you have the owner of the car with you. if you travel farther into Mexico, you’ll need a permit since your car is registered in another country. Permits usually Cost around $400, but you get the money back when you return the permit. When the red light turned on, you SHOULD of stopped, they would of asked you a few questions and let you go on your way, it’ll be easier if you had someone who spoke Spanish. And saying that the owner was in another country really makes it suspicious and they think that you’re hiding something. Just be careful out there man, if they see the car the cartels, heck even corrupt police officers could take your car and leave you stranded.

As a resident in imperial valley CA I cross daily the border of Calexico CA to mexicali MX what I have seen in mexicali are cars plates expired like California Arizona for some reason the cops of the city are cool with it but it's really weird that the police of mexicali doesn't do anything about it as long that you speak with them they are cool with it

That red light stands for a “random” check for cars entering the country. There’s a department called SAT, who’s the revenue service of the Mexican government. They want to avoid nationals and foreign people to transport goods that could surpass a certain amount of money (without declaring at Customs).
You can recover deleted footage from the GoPro SD cards using SD card recovery software ($50). Once you delete the footage, do not use the card or you will overwrite the deleted files and make them unrecoverable.
