Another one of those movies where no one enunciates and I long for subtitles to make out what they're saying... except for Malkovich! Nice to see he's back.
I hope they show how complex Chanel's position and relationship with Nazis was likely to have been. Nazis put people into terrible positions, "Sophie's Choice" shows that. In a truly gruesome way, it was often those who died swiftly under the Nazis who who suffered the least. It's easy to despise people if we don't know the pressure they've been put under. Of course some people are just weak sychophants who care only for their own survival but since we are talking about Nazis and there are conflicting reports about her how much of an informant she was, I'm not willing to condemn her.
I remember seeing an exhibit at the V&A several years ago that showcased post-war fashion in London and Paris and the first thing you saw upon entry was Dior's Bar jacket and it was fantastic.
Hope the film confronts the Coco issue head on. N the other hand, Christian Dior's sister, Catherine (I think) was an active member of the French Resistance. The fragrance 'Miss Dior' was named for her ❤
She was a double…you know what happened to collaborators…she was connected to Churchill and the English gentry… She was also a Nazi intelligence officers mistress..it’s all out there if you look..
if Coco were a man she likely would not have needed to turn to the enemy... she did what she did to survive. She broke barriers for women... she was not afforded the niceties, Dior, a man, was afforded. The whole history of it all is sad.
Audrey Tatou was superb as Coco. Even rode astride! Too many Americans with fake accents in this version. I loved Juliette in Les Enfants du Siecle, as George Sands.
Which Americans? The leads are played by a French woman and an Australian? Besides John Malkovich, the rest of the cast are French, English and European. Know the facts before throwing assumptions!
I love that film too! It's one of my favorites, and so hard to find, unfortunately. She and Magimel create magic in that one. ♥ They're in a new film together called 'The Taste of Things' which I am dying to see but also is hard to find here in the states.
She did what she had to do to protect her nephew, even if this is questionable. Someone in the same situation today would post something on Social media and the police would round them up. It’s happening everyday in some countries.
Just discovered him in the already old series " Bloodline ", his creation of Danny made me succomb to his absolute charm and talent :) Didn't know he was Dior in this new biopic about Chanel... Maybe I'll watch it some time !
Why did they choose an actor that looks absolutely nothing like Dior? The famous French designer was a short and rather plump man with a serious, if slightly impish, face. This actor looks like a double for Jacques Fath (another French designer of the period).
I'm sorry it's not good for you. To be honest, I don't have the faintest idea what Dior, Chanel, or pretty much any designer looks like, so.... I don't think I'm the outlier, either.
Tired of being bombarded with American reinterpretations of the horrors of worldwar2 in Europe. Why must they always seek to divide us? Chanel’s clothes were practical, sleek, wearable . Dior’s were a man’s fantasy of what a woman should wear. Being a woman, I know which one I prefer.
Whoever put the LOUD banging garbage can lid sound effects on this just ruined the trailer. It's obnoxious, unnecessary and inappropriate to the era of the film. Ugh!
Have you seen the movie ? Because you can only say it glorifies someone if you have seen it, otherwise it is just speculation (not mentioning that nothing in the trailer shows any glorification - quite the opposite, actually).
If you don't love clothes, fashion, style...you will never appreciate or understand. Ultimately through style we actualize ourselves..comfort, ease, beauty and whether we actively chose it or not, we are showing our neighbors and the world at large who we are.
@@Buttercup697 I think the the fearless brave French underground and the Americans saved France. Sorry but fashion was a small part. How about the wineries and agricultural. So many saved France… including the hard working every day people. Now they deserve accolades!!!!
@janicemerchant-blakely4866 we live in a century when people do not believe in God or do not trust Him anymore but... instead of that they believe in fashion that saves them. Indeed, we live in an extremely childish century and real regress of human being. 🤯
@@mirrama9866 Why would they believe in god when they just survived a war that killed 40 million people? Did you even think about what you wrote after you had written it?
Those first 5 seconds of this trailer have been forced on me watching UA-cam videos for the past week and all I can say is that it looks proper cringe.
Anything with Binoche is a must watch.this looks absolutely wonderful.looking forward.

Can't wait to watch it but the choice of music for this trailer is atrocious...
I remember seeing an exhibit at the V&A several years ago that showcased post-war fashion in London and Paris and the first thing you saw upon entry was Dior's Bar jacket and it was fantastic.
the music in this sounds... wrong?
Malkovich, of course!
What a cast! Fashion! Can’t wait!
I love Ben.
I can´t wait for this! It looks brilliant.
Great actors. The trailer and its generic, anachronistic music sullies the impact.
They keep on saying "after the war" 😂😂😂😂 Coco Chanel was literally an operative for the Nazis. But oooh pretty clothes.
Hope the film confronts the Coco issue head on. N the other hand, Christian Dior's sister, Catherine (I think) was an active member of the French Resistance. The fragrance 'Miss Dior' was named for her ❤

After the war???
Huh I wonder if the show might touch on that?? 🤔🙄

George SanD, without S ;)

Not sure about this trailer and choice of music... The film looks interesting though!
I love Ben Mendehlson!’ Animal Kingdom, Churchill, whatever he does he’s fantastic in.
Just discovered him in the already old series " Bloodline ", his creation of Danny made me succomb to his absolute charm and talent :)
Didn't know he was Dior in this new biopic about Chanel... Maybe I'll watch it some time !
But I think Churchill is Gary Oldman...
Finally the real life and times. Can't wait.
Two most powerful fashion designing icons they revolutionised fashion fashion and life Coco Chanel and Christian dior
II cannot wait to see this one!!
Hugo Boss designed uniforms for the German army in WW2
Looks awesome love this era and being entertained I never take seriously just love movie and Ben and Juliette awesome ❤

cause short and chubby won't get ya the viewers 😉
😆@@Buttercup697
Yes, or Givenchy! Takes away from the authenticity.

Maybe because Ben is the right actor for the job.
This looks FABULOUS!!!
Incorporating new age female raps into 1940’s era film is criminal.
This gives me chills-can't wait for it!
Ben ❤
Crappy music.
It’s hard when stuff loses meaning… the emperor’s new clothes

Oooooh I cannot wait to watch this and LOVE the song!
Love Australia xx PS: I love movies and mini series like this
with true facts!
Whoever put the LOUD banging garbage can lid sound effects on this just ruined the trailer. It's obnoxious, unnecessary and inappropriate to the era of the film. Ugh!
So not a movie about how she was a Nazi?
casting Ben Mendelsohn as Dior is very interesting...
Why glorify a Nazi collaborationist? Hard pass
God I'm so glad someone else said that
Have you seen the movie ? Because you can only say it glorifies someone if you have seen it, otherwise it is just speculation (not mentioning that nothing in the trailer shows any glorification - quite the opposite, actually).
doing a bio doesn't mean your glorifying someone's behavior within the story
🎉

internal self expression
Что это за мызыка играет, подскажите?
I love what I am seeing - I just don't like the soundtrack.
Utterly ruined by the god awful contemporary songs...
What’s with the accents? If the whole thing takes place in France, accents make no sense. This is absurd.
This just kills me… Like fashion saved us all. BS
it was one of the things that did save France... the economy, the culture.

Some people always need something to complain about.

Meh
Another film about Coco Chanel? Really?
Who CHOSE this "MuSic" for the trailer 😂😂😂😂😂
Pura bucha!

No thanks fk I can’t stand egotistical madness everyone gets put in a box
Terrible…
