There is barely any material for a 12 episode season. Maybe if they spent more time with the worldbuilding the author did after Ragna joined the Sun Cult but then right after there is a long sequence of battles. We are currently at chapter 77, and the Anime stops at chapter 54. I'd say a good spot to announce a second season would be at the 100th chapter or so.

Episode 1 just went crazy, the way he pulls up right in front of him, you can really feel how fearful he is of Ragna
