Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

We farm down by Van Wert and the rains Fri night split. We finished up a 78 acre field about 9:30 Fri and didn't get any rain until around midnight.

Be sure and check waterflo from the hose you are connecting to it. You never want to starve for water.
We did that and the float tank offer a little bit of a buffer to let the well catch up if necessary

Nathan..a raccoon should go right thru..we had a deer run into the corn head last year it went all the way thru and just had the hide wrapped in the spreader

would a corn/corn/wheat/ soy rotation reduce the white mold problem?
What are the odds that the chicken litter combined with soils types and moisture may be causing some of the white mold issues? That stuff seems pretty nasty and thinking may be contributing to disease issues?

Thanks for always posting great videos. Just curious...why do you use your IPAD for yield monitoring versus the JD monitor?
I do use the John Deere monitors. The iPad is running Connect Moblie and is basically another display.
I watched a video where a farmer hangs a chain on the back of his combine and it caused less static electricity and his windows didn’t get all dusty 🤷♂️
We used to car wax our windows and it helped keep them cleaner from settling dust and were easy to brush off. Seemed to work good, yet the conditions these machines work in is just inherently dusty.
Does the white mold has any impact on the quality of the beans? Maybe a stupid question but not a farmer here. Thx

There's a couple poly mounting holes there just used ram mounts

I’m looking for a hot water pressure washer for our farm right now. Any other brands you considered?
Looked at Hotsy and Landa, they might have a touch more features like an adjustable temperature control but we're a fair bit more expensive.
