I took this course by Bill Underwood himself and another Defendo person when they came to Virginia. Mr. Underwood had had a broken back, was small but built like a brick and could put any male in the class down in seconds. He also knew Houdini and Charlie Chaplin, who gave him a gold pocketwatch.
Maybe its for a bouncer who's trying to get your guard down so he can toss you. Calms the situation, pretends it's all good, shakes your hand like he's your boy now, then out you go. Idk. Outside of that 🤣🤣🤣
Good technique and many thanks for your upload, but may I respectfully ask is the disadvantage here that it's proactive? It's a good escort technique, assuming he takes the hand you offer. I am a fan of Fairbairn, O'Neill, Defendu and gutterfighting and it's great to keep these alive as you are doing with Underwood's legacy. However most handshake techniques in Hapkido, for example, are about breaking *his* grip on you, in other words reactive. The handcrush is a classic 'big guy in the bar' idiot move, and there is one similar to this in Ju Jitsu which you will find on Submissions 101 where you bend your knees slightly and use both hands to bring the crusher's hand up, putting him on his toes (as you simulate drinking from a bowl). You then step sideways and use your elbow to control him, or of course you can simply drop under his arm and take him down to your side if you wish. I suppose you could go into a figure four armlock if you needed to, as well. It's very similar but reactive and easy to perform in the basic version. Best wishes and keep up the good work.
The simplest way to not lose a bar fight in three easy steps. 1. Make sure the aggressor is indeed going to attack you. 2. Get the first punch off asap and make sure its square to the nose. 3. Go home with his broad and PLOW!
No need to do at speed. It's been shown through studies that the mind can only absorb what is taught when shown very slowly yet martial artists seem obsessed with moving fast behooves me actually. Or show it in super slow motion. Thanks

Because every bar fight starts with a hearty handshake. Next up, how to take someone down while going in for a hug.
Well... yeah. It's called the clinch.

All I learned is don't shake hands with anyone in a bar
Very nice.
But see this is using in
every martial arts.
Well, I can see how this handshake technique would be good for apprehending someone or escorting somebody out of a nightclub.
If he's willing to shake hands first. Besides, drunks don't feel pain as much as sober
