      Krav Maga schools and instructors, unfortunately, are hit or miss. Some are pretty good, and some are a joke. And that sucks, because for a total novice who has never had any real training in anything whatsoever, and has no idea what to look for in a good school and good instructor, it's a complete scam. It actually angers me quite a bit that there is so much bullshit fuckery in the martial arts community.

      It's kinda interesting. For example here, in central Europe, I have yet to see a single McDojo style Krav Maga gym. Most KM here is taught in the same no-BS style. Similarly to the video, the pre-baked techniques are just a small part, and pretty much all training lessons have the bread & butter kickboxing and grappling sparring sessions (usually near the end). Except maybe first 2-3 months where newbies learn how to hit and kick properly.

      Once that grip is on from the rear and she doesn’t simultaneously drop her weight and pin your arms to her chest with her forearms, then there’s nothing to stop you from raising your arms and rear choking her to death. I don’t trust krav magra. Give me a blend of classic western boxing, classic high school/college wrestling, old school Goju Ryu, and American Combative Inc.

      I've been kneed in the groin several times while grappling and gave shrugged it off because I was so focused on attaining a dominant position. A guy I used to train with (former pro boxer) got kicked real hard in the nuts outside of a bar one night. He was able to ignore the pain and beat the sh*t out of the dude. He said his nuts did hurt for like two weeks after that. One time during a street fight I tried to punch a dude in the nuts and it didn't make contact because he was wearing baggy jeans. Nut shots aren't as reliable as you think, especially when adrenaline, determination, and drugs are involved. I actually think that "dirty tactics" are usually a poor substitute for actual fighting skill.

    It is super cool that she can combine everything together.
    practise allways will beat theory...
    Fighting will be more effective than just talking about fighting and just drillig something with somebody who dont really want to hit you.
    Sparrings are super important, there you are learning how effective you are, how people react on your attacks and what is more important, how you reacting whfn you get hit. Etc.
    1min of live sparring can give you more information than 1month of drilling some super moves.

      people forget that krav maga was invented by a skilled boxer and wrestler. All the techniques come from other martial arts and some were modified, the creator of krav maga took the best techniques of wrestling, boxing, karate, judo and savate and combined them together, the weapons defence are heavily modified japanese jiu-jitsu and aikido techniques. he added situational awareness which he learned from his many street fights and his own unique purpose and methodology of ending fights quickly and efficiently.
      so I dont see why people get shocked when they see wrestling and judo moves in krav maga, those moves have been there from the start.

      @wattlebough Рік тому +3

      If you’re training to learn self-defence the Krav Maga philosophy to self-defence is the essential foundation that guides the application of your Muay Thai and BJJ skills. If you’re coming in as a clean slate with no previous martial arts training looking to learn to defend yourself, I’d start with KM, as it teaches the street survival mentality that guides your choice of tactics, responses and objectives in the fight, and it teaches you the basics of all aspects of fighting quickly. After a year or two training KM then add in dedicated Boxing, BJJ, MT, Wrestling and Judo. But you never forget the KM foundational philosophy when you’re out in the world.

    I’m so bummed I didn’t know you were going to be here, I’m all of 20 minutes from Dacula!! Here’s something for ya-I graduated from Dacula high school, but I didn’t start high school there. My parents transferred me there sophomore year bc I had been attacked while walking from my car to the high school I attended at the time, at 7 am, right as I stepped onto campus. Dude grabbed me from behind (in a wrecking ball sort of way). He hit me and cut me with a knife, but none of it too bad, just terrifying bc he was trying to take me. That was a hill I was willing to die on, though, I wasn’t going anywhere if I could help if, and I held out long enough, protecting my head while kicking the shit out of his knee every chance I got (which was anti-climatic if I’m being honest-I didn’t do much damage, but I did slow him down) and finally a teacher rounded the corner between the buildings, and he decided to bug out. The whole thing probably only lasted a minute or two, but that 2 minutes is top of my list for things I never want to do again, LOL. Anyway, you said Dacula and it brought back all that, it felt serendipitous so I shared. You’re welcome.

    Super important. I see too many self-defence scenarios where they groin strike and walk away smiling. I've been kicked in the groin by full strength front kicks in M/A tournaments and still fought through for 10 - 15 seconds before the pain got debilitating. 10 seconds in a street encounter is everything. A groin strike is a good distraction/opener for subsequent strikes/grappling or just running tf away at full speed.

  • @jenx5870
    @jenx5870 Рік тому +1

    The most important takeaway is to be aware of your surroundings, and to not get grabbed from behind, because often groin strikes don't work. When a man has adrenaline running through them, thick clothing like jeans on, and the kick isn't a strong and direct one, or they are using certain drugs, the groin strike will be rendered completely ineffective. Sometimes it only further enrages them, and they fight through it. Your best chance at getting out of being grabbed from behind is to not be grabbed from behind at all, or as she showed, to catch them before they actually get a grip on you. Once they have a firm grip, you are pretty much at their mercy. Especially if they can lift you up or get you on the ground. I know this, because I was almost strangled to death at 17 yrs old, and no matter what I did to fight for my life, the only thing that saved me was the fact that the other man with him grew a conscience, and stopped him at the last minute. Concealed carry, and not letting them close enough to steal your weapon will also stop them.

    I enjoyed this video. Don’t know why people think we don’t sparr in KM… Pretty much every session.

    Kenpo also has a lot of groin strikes mixed in. Wearing a cup is a necessity.

    Most things people say are "fundamental" to their art, which is typically fundamental for all arts. What art doesn't focus on structure and rhythm.
    Fighting will always end up all pretty much the same way. It'll just be stylistically a little different. You can only punch so many ways.

    For a guy who says groin kicks don't stop attackers, it is odd the 1st worry he has is, where is his cup?

      Maybe he does not want to be castrated for a training session? Still not good for stopping people in selfdefense

      Did you somehow get confused and think I meant that they don't hurt? Are you unwittingly simple minded or intentionally obtuse?

    Great to see another KM with live drilling and sparring. Is Pure a FTF affiliate?
    It's not that groin strikes are not effective, it's that you can't "just" use them as in, "I they do that I'll JUST kick'em in the nads....poke their eye...hit them with my keys..." etc. Fundamental fighting skills are necessary to get the most out them.

    When people tell me they only did krav maga before im sceptical, because as i think you once said on one of your livestreams, krav maga itself isnt bad, its the schools. I think krav maga can be alright and good if you teach it right, like this school does.

    Bruce Lee too actually. That's one thing I've noticed in The Tao of JKD. Dude was really into using and protecting from groin strikes. Like REALLY REALLY into it...

    I tell my KM students that after a successful strike, don't stop to admire your work, but finish it. However, when the threat tops, you stop.
