Everything in this case hinged heavily on the standard of proof being evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Based on the movie alone, it would be difficult to get an unanimous verdict of guilty from the 12 jurors.
SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. I see it differently. I think that a courageous woman would have come out with the truth before the victim suicided.
She played the part of a woman whose conscience ate away at her after she did nothing and a young woman committed suicide because of it. Not what I would call courageous. Just severely guilt ridden. But unfortunately, very few people are courageous these days, and even fewer do the right thing. Absolutely anybody could call the police anonymously if they're concerned with being inconvenienced. Very few will even do that.
that bribe was disgusting It is hard but when situations like this arise, even family members, what and who we really are comes out. That family was not who this young wife thought they were.

Yes, the defense counsel definitely badgered the woman with his loud voice and repetitive questions. But every presiding judge in a court trial has a very wide discretion in sustaining or denying any objection made to such badgering. This judge seemed biased. Badgering the witness is an objection that counsel can make during a cross-examination of a witness where opposing counsel becomes hostile or asks argumentative questions. If an attorney begins repeatedly asking a witness about the same thing, asks many rudely phrased questions, becomes very loud, or other uses other unnecessary, distracting tactics, the opposing counsel will object, hoping the judge will find the tactics to be disruptive or in-conducive to eliciting facts from the witness.
I’m actually ,looking at this on Tubi for the first time. The part that got me is at her surprise party they tried to bribe her with 3000 dollars. Smdh!!!
The defense lawyer was so sleazy, the way he kept touching women, smiling inappropriately, battering the witness, etc. It's just ridiculous to assume that consent is possible when someone is drunk, sleeping, sedated, etc. As a matter of fact, someone being out of their right mind equals greater vulnerability and likelihood of nonconsensual abuse, manipulation, and/or assault.
This is why women should carry guns… I don’t understand why nobody helped her while she was screaming being raped by a group of men.. what a bunch of cowards.. …….it can not be acceptable for women to go through this.. next time arm yourself so you don’t get attacked.. even the bystanders could have been carrying something for defense.. they could have protected that lady.. I guarantee the rapists would have taken off running.. I’ve been in that woman’s shoes more than I like to talk about, so if I heard that happening to another woman, I guarantee I would run in and try to stop it……but it’s infuriating that people just stood still and did nothing while listening to her scream….
What happened to her was beyond a nightmare. That being said, when should she have showed her gun? After she walked into the bar, after a man sat next to her, when should someone get trigger happy? It is frustrating, but everyone carrying guns should not be the answer. The bar tender should have thrown them all out and called the cops immediately. What good happens in bars?

I just can't fit myself into a sympathetic mode for these two people, this married couple.
Yes. She married into a scummy family.😢
Melissa Leo is an amazing actress
We all need to report or help when someone needs it. It is our responsibility as humans to do so. Remember if it happpened to you wouldn’t you want someone to help !
They cut alot of the rape scene out. I rented this movie years ago and the real version was horrible and made me physically sick to my stomach.
Thank goodness they did. It was sickening just watching the edited version. I think I would have PTS from watching the real one. So sad 😭 No one helped her
I was thinking at least it wasn't as graphic as The Accused with Jodi Foster. I didn't know it was edited. It doesn't have to be graphic for the audience to know that a rape took place. At 1st I was confused because they cut so much out. I wasn't sure what had happened until later when you hear the word rape and see it in newspaper.
Wouldn't want to be with a man who would let this go, he's despicable just like his brother...
Valerie Bertinell's talents truly shine in this close-up of court room and the everyday drama of violence against women happening in the U.S,A, A topic that needed to be addressed; well-done supprt by cast & crew!
Wonder why that is ...the greatest nation on earth the Americans keep shouting about ? Tks for the movie...
Shirley Cameron It's not any better in Europe and certainly not in certain African and Muslim nations.
@@Southamericangirl42Yes, but those Nations don't delusionally claim to be "The Greatest Country in the World" I frankly find that inaccurate statement insulting!
Family or no family shouldn’t do such a bad thing to that woman
Now that was a great movie ❤ It is always a treat when Valerie Bertonelli is in a movie, she is a fantastic actress. I knew Kevin would eventually do the right thing. 💥 ty for the movie 👏👏💯
This is a great film. I love how it unfolds and the end is so heartwarming.
This was a very good but sad movie and happy in the ending !
This was such a sick rape! I can’t believe the rapist’ brother blames the victim!
All rape is sick.
My view of my husband would be ruined forever if he had stood by and watched a viscous rape and made me stand by too. I couldn’t ever look at him again. Let alone bully me into keeping quiet.
I thought that was Melissa Leo and it is her… great actor!
Thank you for the free movie! It was very good. Honesty is the best policy
There's always a suitcase under the bed waiting to GO 😂😂.
True😂
And they pack like one drawer and leave for good 😂
@@valtoton2982 for real😂.
Right!🤣
I guess it’s funny and unrealistic, if you’ve never lived it before or gone through anything like it. 💔😓😡
Thank you Kevin for doing the right thing. To bad you took so long. Unconditional Love conquers ALL things. ❤ Always do what's right no matter the cost. No earthly rewards, but the reward that's eternal. Movie or no movie.
My best friend (during my teenhood years ) set my r*pe up, for a bottle of fancy booze! She then, proceeded to watch me getting r*ped in this guy's car, as if I asked for all of it and she was just there to support me! I was threatened not to talk to cops or else..mind you, this was the 90s ,post soviet union ,when there were many outlaws, creating their own laws(mafia and such) and his daddy was a part of it, who knew every cop, judge ,lawyer in town...I was followed, afterwards, for awhile and threatened continuesly...I was terrified for my grandparents, as they were all I had! So I kept quiet and just suppressed it all ..
The guy, realized what he's done, several weeks later and attempted to seek validation for his bad behavior through trying to explain to me why he did what he did, calling it "my apology"(I rejected him and thats why he r*ped me) lmfaoooo several months later, he was killed in a car accident 😏 this is what karma is all about, friends! I didn't have to do much, to seek my revenge and my hands are clean, (so is my soul! )What goes around ,comes back around times 100!
I’m so sorry that happened to you 🥲. I hope you are on your way to healing❤️🩹
❤
I definitely pray for every victim none of us deserve to be used and then no justice.....even if the rapist dies you never get over it
The names of people who attend AA meetings are not recorded. What they say at a meeting is not recorded. That's why it it is called AA. So producing a transcript what the girl of what the girl said at a meeting is absurd.
Yeah that was really strange. It would put a real damper on honest sharing if it could really end up in a courtroom
When documents/transcripts are subpoenaed by the court, it becomes transparent!
@@66hoodwitch Yes, but there are no transcripts in those meetings. I think maybe they added that for dramatic purposes only.
The brother did nothing but watched. Didn't even bother to stop his brother.
I feel so sad for the victims
In Florida, there was a serial rapist. Police offered to train women how to shoot. It took 6 months for the police to train all the women who wanted to learn how. 6 months later...no more rapist. Violent crimes against women went down to 0 percent. Armed and Female
Good movie, great acting!
I give it a 10! Perfect story, actors and upload😀 Enjoy
Is it a version of The Accused with Jodie Foster? The woman real life was attacked in a bar. The men found guilty and she died in a crash a few years after. They only got a few years. Disgusting. Grapists should hang high. They're shameless and evil. That woman must have been disgusted of her husband. How could she be near him after? He's potentially one too just like his brother
Definitely worth watching especially if you enjoy courtroom drama.
Unless you expect an ending......
.
.
I do. !
Good movie Thanks for posting God bless 👏🙏🏼💯
Gang rape was accepted and covered up by families friends and communities
A 14 year old girl was grabbed off the street and shoved into a car full of 6 guys
They then went to the cemetery and took turns raping her
When they were finished they drove to her house and threw her on the front steps
This girl is now a 78 year old woman
Did she tell no
Why not ? Her dad had a belt out to whip her for coming home late
Did this ruin her life yes
Does she still cry when she relives it yes
How do I know about this story ?
I am her
This is heartbreaking ... I'm so sorry... I was raped when I was 18... I didn't tell for 8 years when I ended up in a rehab... I was so broken by it... 😢xxx
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
A twenty five year old guy broke bones on another guy for doing way less
I knew the victim was you before you revealed her. Idk what to say to you. Stay strong💙
Not only she's cruel, she's also gullible...smh and thr family are all evil...disgusting world we live in! This happens to so many women, without justice in return!
My Family are still living in denial of my own rape at the innocent age of 14 and a half, by a paedophile, who got right into my family unit, my late mother even considered him handsome. she did not know, my late father was unaware. Now I am nearly sixty and I can not reflect on how life was before that awful event it affects my sleep. to this day, And my health is broken now. My family still see me as a Blacksheep or a scapegoat.
I can’t imagine the jury could make heads or tails out of this clusterxxxx of a trial.
Everything in this case hinged heavily on the standard of proof being evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Based on the movie alone, it would be difficult to get an unanimous verdict of guilty from the 12 jurors.
VB played a courageous woman. Not many out there who would risk so much to do what is right.
SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
I see it differently. I think that a courageous woman would have come out with the truth before the victim suicided.
What the hell?? They should have called the police asap and it dsnt make her a hero
The part where the prosecutor gets in Anna's face trying to confuse her and she gets in his face and says "No!" was gratifying.
I would speak of being courages as the incident was happening.
So touching story & made me cry one more please🙏🙏🙏
I've been looking for this movie for years! Haven't seen in since childhood, real classic. Don't make them like this anymore!
Excellent movie. Melissa Leo is outstanding.
that bribe was disgusting It is hard but when situations like this arise, even family members, what and who we really are comes out. That family was not who this young wife thought they were.
Most of your own family are not who you think they are. Scary but it's true anymore.
I've known for most of my life my so-called family members weren't about what the the birds left on a limb.
I've seen it first hand with mine- lies, bribes, coverups- and they are still playing innocent victims/villainizing me...
If I was raped and found out there was a witness that would not come forward in court I would SUEhe HELL out of them. What right do they think they have Not to come forth and not testify. They would be the most digesting people on the planet, just as bad as trump.
It was a good movie, and conscious prevail.
I miss the 80s 💔
Any one who witnessed an act not in legal limits in a way silently is called a criminal. Whereas a group of people do they are called as animals.
No not animals. Animals are better then those monsters.
Animals don’t rape other animals !!!!
Animals are nice people are not
That was so sad rape is a pure act of violence and control ,no way could I stand by and let that happen
This makes me so mad. He is choosing a family that is in the wrong for a brave wife doing the right thing.
how could she stay silent even for a day!
LOVED THIS MOVIE
Which part exactly do you LOVE?
thank you for this great movie !
Formidable film
Interprétation du tonnerre !
J'ai adoré
❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
The fact that they sit back as if they were watching a prn video or something...What kind of human can sit up and watch this and do absolutely NOTHING!!! This movie has emotionally SHOOk !!!!
They were probably in shock. And they were outnumbered too. Still, they should’ve called the police the moment they left.
Recall that the movie was far back in 1985 and was in a time not like now. It's a Beautiful Compelling Story of Strength.
Reminds me of the sad case of Kitty Genaves 😭😭😭😭😭😭
That was ridiculously insane!!
Kitty Genovese
I’m only 10 minutes into the movie but it’s starting just like The Accused with Jodie Foster!
What judge allows an attorney to badger a witness like that?
Bad enough that she was physically raped; that unscrupulous attorney just HAD to mentally rape her to the point where it became too much for her
Good movie!! Very true to life!!
Exactly
Sad Indeed.🥺😪
What happened to her was beyond a nightmare. That being said, when should she have showed her gun? After she walked into the bar, after a man sat next to her, when should someone get trigger happy? It is frustrating, but everyone carrying guns should not be the answer. The bar tender should have thrown them all out and called the cops immediately. What good happens in bars?
Valerie Bertinili asked the wrong question...not "what are we going to do"... but instead..."I am going to the police"
A great one! Simple plot but strong progressing with human natures
That’s because it is a true story.
Wonderful Movie 🍿💕
Kevin finally got a set of balls!😮
Poor Patty.😂
Good movie but it should of shown the sentencing-verdict tho...
