I have heard of jar flies. We call them either cicadas or locusts. I thought they were different 😊. I love learning new ways of how people name their surrounding buggy friends, like all the different terms for lightning bugs, glow worms, lantern flies, etc.
We also call them Light 'em up bugs, but that's just us as far as I know 😁, I know they're beetles, but we just call all of them bugs 😂 😂😂😂

Finally got to meet you in person!! Thanks for coming in the store today! I LOVE every episode I've seen! I enjoy your metal detecting, see what you're going to find this time. I'm especially fond of yours and your dad's childhood memories. Even though I didn't get to grow up in Tennessee, there are many similarities and even our dads' experiences! Thanks for your dedication, Donnie. I'm sure it can be a drag collecting the memory card from the trail cams. Your channel is a great stress reliever! Keep em coming! God bless😊

My neighbor's tree must have a gazillion of them. We called them locusts growing up but now I call them cicadas. About 4 years ago this HUGE wasp showed up, swarming back and forth. Found out it's a Cicada Killer Wasp. It catches a cicada mid flight and stings it which paralyzes it. Then it takes it down in a hole (one of many) so the larva can eat it when they hatch. That's how I remember what I read though but I can't get rid of them. The feral cats keep trying to catch them and I'm afraid they will get stung. The cats catch cicadas and eat them.
